Oh man do I love me some Valerie's Taco Stand! I just recently discovered this place while driving around late at night looking for something to eat. It's open 24/7, which is amazing. I work late, so I know I can always count on this place. The burritos are enormous and delicious! They hit the spot every time. Next time I will try one of their plates, but I'm sure they are great as well. It's a small place on University Dr. and can be easy to drive by, but make sure and stop by and give it a try. read more

I usually love this place but now sure who was working there today I ordered 6 containers of carnitas meet only The drive through attendant told me it's 8 ounce containers I ordered three ... when I received my order it felt very light ... did not feel like 24 ounces in one bag So I ordered 3 more 8 ounce containers of carnitas... Just got home and thought I should weight these because it just doesn't feel like 3 full lbs of meet Please see my scale photo below... What a rip off... I don't recommend this place ever again... I roll up to Valerie's Taco shop in McKinney all the time after late night around Frisco, it's open 24/7 which is awesome. Last visit I got the Carne Asada fries loaded with steak, melted cheese, Guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and cotija. Service was fast and chill even after 1A.M, big portions, plus they got the self service bar to hook it up just right. Cantaloupe drink's was a perfect combo mix. I ordered 5 burritos: 1 carne asada: the asada steak meat was good and seasoned well. 4 out 5. 1 Chicken burrito: not my favorite as it was just not well served with all the things inside. I think this burrito should be more of a chicken, lettuce, cheese and choice of salsa or pico de gallo. (Just my opinion) 2 out of 5. 1 carnitas burrito: the carnitas were very tasty and would recommend for others to try. 4 out of 5. 1 chile relleno and carne asada burrito: now this was so tasty and would also highly recommend. 4.5 out of 5. 1 burrito that I can't remember what it was called but it had fried inside. Needless to say to say it wasn't my thing. 2 out 5. All these burritos do come wrapped in a tortilla that had such delicious flavor and good texture. Their salsas though they were tasty most of the salsas that I got were like bad, the plastic container they come in was super bubbly like they were ready to pop. (I didn't even try opening it) I have tried a chorizo breakfast burrito that a coworker offered that was so delicious, that's the only reason I went here on my own after. 4.5 out 5. The agua fresca was waaaay to sweet, I tasted nothing but sugar and no melon flavor at all. Service was good, but I did go through the drive thru. She gave me time to order and wasn't pushy about it. I've tried calling in to correct an order, and even drove to the location just to be told the phone number doesn't work and they don't modify orders at all. Had to drive here (here currently) and they have NO reason why the phone doesn't work just a "well for the 3 months I've worked here, the phone doesn't work and there's no manager to talk to, sorry. Terrible first and last time trying this place first they forgot my burrito and rice bowl so i had to come all the way back wait another 30 minutes for my food and then they're chef didn't season any of the meat so when i got home i had to disassemble the burrito and the 15 tacos i ordered and actually season everything myself and on top of all of that they put beans all over my rice bowl and if i wanted to demolish my toilet even more i would've asked them to add beans at the start so i didn't even eat that overall not satisfied at all and if you go there make sure they give you all your food and bring seasoning with you read more

Service is great! We have been eating here since it was in Princeton. The other locations are ok but the Princeton one was the best.. we were so happy they were in McKinney on 380 since that's on the way home. We usually get the best food and it's like being back home in San Diego. Last night was terrible. I got rolled beef tacos that were so bad. They were stale, meat inside was old, and it was almost like it was microwaved and then fried. I also got a bean and cheese burrito. It was cold, cheese didn't melt at all and the tortillas texture was not like it normally is, very hard to eat! I really hope they get it together bc it's a family favorite! read more

First time trying this spot. I really wanted to give it a chance. The food was just ok. I had tacos and cheese enchiladas and flautas. The enchilada was ok. The cheese was thick and rubbery. The rice and beans were ok. I got a beef taco. The shell seemed kind of stale. The filling was better. The beef was shredded and not ground. I thought the flautas would be single and dip able. Instead, they already had cheese, guacamole already slathered on top. I would have enjoyed them more in a single dip style preparation. read more

Food was good, but customer service through the drive through made me have a negative experience. It's been multiple times where we have gone and the same young lady is easily irritable with bad customer service which shouldn't be too hard since we're not there for more than 5 minutes. read more

The sauce was too salty and over powered any flavor. The meat was dry and probably was cooked a long time ago. I consulted reviews before going into Valerie's and went in even though there were no cars there at lunch time. I have to disagree with the reviews I read. Food was fresh enough but red sauce tasted like what comes out of a can of enchilada sauce. Beans were bland and rice was ok. I paid $14. For a cheese enchilada and a tostada rice and beans. Definitely not worth it. Sorry Valerie's. I suggest a reworking if your recipes. read more

As a native of San Diego, I was excited to hear about a restaurant like Valerie's as my initial visit in Plano reminded me of the taco shops back home. Since that first visit, none of my orders have been right which baffles me because it's such a simple order. And it has occurred at all 3 Valerie's, which is disappointing because we drive anywhere from 20-30 min to visit the one in McKinney, Plano and Flower Mound. Last night we ordered from McKinney. The cashier repeated the order 3 X. Conga Burrito, no rice add cheese. What did I get? rice without the beans that it comes with. The previous time is Plano and Flower Mound, Conga Burrito add chesse, still no cheese in either order. It's confusing how those simple orders have been wrong my last 3 visits. Also, proper beef/chicken taquitos (rolled tacos), California style red or green enchilada sauces, and that tomatillo and creamy avocado sauce that goes on everything!!! I have been in Texas for 5 years. I'm so happy this So Cal Mexican food is here! I have missed the So Cal Burritos with all my heart. The Owner is trying his hardest to get this location up and working. If any one knows anything about running a business, it takes a little time to get the machine well oiled and up and running.
