I roll up to Valerie's Taco shop in McKinney all the time after late night around Frisco, it's open 24/7 which is awesome. Last visit I got the Carne Asada fries loaded with steak, melted cheese, Guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, and cotija. Service was fast and chill even after 1A.M, big portions, plus they got the self service bar to hook it up just right. Cantaloupe drink's was a perfect combo mix. Always hit the spot late night .

Somehow this is the best bean and cheese we've ever had. So simple but I think the green sauce makes it over the top delicious. It's a must. Along with the watermelon agua Fresca

Terrible experience! Received someone else's order & had to go back. No apology. Told me I ordered it & did not. Order was: Crispy beef taco: beef dry, lettuce old, shell overcooked & stale. Trash! 3 rolled chicken taco plate: took one bite & tasted rotten chicken. Spit it out. Beans dry. Rice good. Trash! Shredded chicken tostada: chicken good, lettuce old, tostada soaked in a pool of water. Trash! No customer service on website. Called the store, no answer or voicemail option. The owner needs to provide some customer service training & food safety training. Want food poisoning? Go here!

This place is always hitting! One of the few places in Texas that does Mexican food right! Authentic real Mexican food! Not Tex Mex! The owner is always there and super down to earth.

First time trying this spot. I really wanted to give it a chance. The food was just ok. I had tacos and cheese enchiladas and flautas. The enchilada was ok. The cheese was thick and rubbery. The rice and beans were ok. I got a beef taco. The shell seemed kind of stale. The filling was better. The beef was shredded and not ground. I thought the flautas would be single and dip able. Instead, they already had cheese, guacamole already slathered on top. I would have enjoyed them more in a single dip style preparation.

I visited Mexican Cactus Taco Bar expecting your typical strip mall taco joint with decent tacos…read moreand some TVs to watch a World Cup match, but WOW did I underestimate what I was in for. I knew from the second we walked in, based on the list of made-in-house horchatas and agua frescas, that we were going to be in for a good meal. The menu was refreshingly unique compared to your basic street taco style setup or the usual Tex-Mex mashup of inauthentic tacos topped with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Our group of 3 adults, plus my 7 year old niece, shared a bowl of guacamole, which was phenomenal and came mixed with sunflower seeds and topped with crumbled cotija, alongside house-made corn tortilla chips. We also split an elote cup, which was great. My wife got a classic horchata, which was deliciously sweet (but not overly so) with a nice slight punch of cinnamon. I went with water but will definitely try an agua fresca next time. I ordered two tacos, both on house-made flour tortillas (I like corn tortillas but prefer flour when made fresh). The Pollo Azteca, with marinated grilled chicken tenderloin, mango pico, and a drizzle of crema, was phenomenal, and had more flavor than most chicken tacos I've had before. The star of my meal, however, was the Al Pastor, with adobo marinated pork tenderloin, diced pineapple, onions, and cilantro, with a slice of lime to squeeze on top. This was hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. I was floored. I also tried my wife's Carne Asada tacos, which came topped with cilantro and onions, and a slice of lime, on their house made corn tortillas. The steak was incredibly flavorful, and the corn tortillas were tender without being chewy. We shared a side of rice and beans, which was good, but not the star of the show. The rice was your typical Mexican yellow rice, and the beans were more of a soupy whole-beans style, which reminded me of my Colombian mother-in-law's recipe. The staff makes four homemade salsas, ranging from mild to pretty spicy, and I loved all of them with the exception of the mild. My niece got the kids' cheese quesadilla, which was a simple melted Oaxaca cheese between a flour tortilla, served with rice, beans, and a little side of crema. The last thing I will rave about is the service. The staff was incredibly nice from the minute we walked in, pleasant to talk to when delivering our order and asking how everything was tasting, to the moment we bussed our tables and headed for the door. I cannot wait to come back again, and I hope they stay very busy until I'm able to do so, because I want this place to be around for a very long time!

When I got home and opened my bag, the paper bag holding the tacos tore because it was completely soaked in oil. Every taco was sitting in a pool of oil and was inedible. The meat in each taco looked questionable and unappetizing. The rice was extremely dry and bland, and the beans were just as disappointing. I've ordered this exact meal from other Torchy's Tacos locations without any issues, which makes this even more frustrating. This experience did not meet basic standards of food quality or service. I will not be returning.

The taco has teriyaki…read moresteak, chipotle slaw, grilled onions, cotija cheese, peanuts, sriracha, and avocado sauce on a flour tortilla. It's sounded very interesting so I thought why not. I was not impressed with it. Maybe the peanuts were too much. However, it was fun to try. I also think they didn't put much sauce on it. I will start saying extra sauce. I didn't taste the sriracha at all. The meat could have been a bit more tender. The overall flavor and components were just ok. The taco complexity of ingredients sounded better than it tasted. 3 STARS SERVICE: was good no complaints. The staff seemed pleasant. 4 STARS AMBIANCE: I love the decor and design of this location. So RED and vibrant. It's cool and fun with a great vibe and energy. The lighting fixtures are so cool. 4 STARS I am only giving them a 4 because the Ambiance and Service. The food is definitely not the star of this visit. Looking forward to the next new taco of the month.
