I went here only out of convenience because I work nearby and the previous shop I went to was in Humboldt park. But suffice it to say the pretentious roadie vibes are very real here and I should've stuck with my old shop. I went in to get my tubeless tires changed. That was it. It turned into sooo much more. When I first went in, I had already previously purchased tires in the fall and didn't bother getting the service done until spring. The tech laughed at me for not bringing in the correct tires for the bike.... I explained, no they are correct, I am not stupid. He then laughed it off... oh you're right, they are just so freaking dusty I couldn't tell(they had been in my basement since winter) This then turned into inspecting my bike and telling me I was going to need new handle bars all of a sudden? A full inspection because "things weren't working", and then the ancillary fees associated" new bar tape, labor, etc.) I reluctantly agreed, which turned into a 2 month process with my bike. They called me saying I needed new forks but could only get the ones they had picked, they couldn't return it to me without doing that work. The back and forth went on for so long I eventually said let me pay you for the work you have done and give me my bike back. It turns out the only work they had done was disassembling my bike. Take the bearings out of the forks, taking the bar tape off. And giving it back in that condition without the tires being done when that was all I wanted in the first place. Then they charged me 40 bucks for their "work". Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. After asking around, there are better shops in Evanston. Save yourself the trouble you might encounter from these guys. Thanks but no thanks Pony.

I paid over $400 so they could replace like three different things and it somehow made the problem worse. Took it to my cousin (bike enthusiast, and by no means a professional) and he said the problem was super obvious, tightened some screws and fixed it in five minutes. I no longer trust the pony shop for anything bigger than a tune-up. They're also pretty good at inflating tires.

This is the type of place that is both organized and seemingly has everything you're looking for, it kinda feels like a bicycle shop from a movie (and it smells like brand new bicycle tires ). But most of all, after buying a new bike, getting a tune up on an old bike, and purchasing a few locks, I received a hand written thank you card with a sticker! That is the kind of gesture that buys permanent loyalty from this customer. My only quibble is that they should get stickers of their business logo since it's pretty dope looking.

My husband and son dropped off my Biria bike with a flat rear tire, and it was ready in no time. They replaced the tube, inflated the tire, adjusted the front brake, and even oiled the chain and adjusted the front basket at no extra charge. When I went to pick it up, Chris took the time to show me how to safely get on and off the bike and adjusted the seat height for me. Since I was there alone, he even helped carry and load the bike into my vehicle. That kind of personal service is hard to find. The whole crew was friendly and helpful, and they have lots of beautiful bikes in stock. If you need anything bike-related, I highly recommend supporting this local business. I had a full tri bike clean and re-build (over $500), and the crank bolt loosens with every ride and my brake quick release won't close. They didn't tighten my saddle bolt and it shifted me off my bike mid-ride. My husband has taken flats here 4 TIMES in 2 months, and they keep busting due to improper tube installation. Took it to Trek and it hasn't given him a problem in a year. We would recommend you look elsewhere for repairs. I can't speak to their bike sales.

You shouldn't perform extra work and charge a customer for it without approval, especially when it wasn't the reason the bike was brought in. When I came back to address this, Dusty (one of the mechanics) was very reasonable and genuinely helpful. He understood the situation, and worked with me to reduce the bill from $140 to $40, which I appreciated. Honestly, if the bike actually needed that repair, I can live with the charge. The real issue was the attitude and handling of the situation by the owner. I waited about 20 minutes for the owner to come speak with me, even though I had to be at work and had to ask Dusty to grab him again. When he finally came out, he was dismissive and rude, repeatedly fixating on the $40 price instead of addressing the real problem -- that the wrong repair was done in the first place. Even after calmly explaining that I wasn't blaming him and simply wanted some accountability, he kept responding with, "I wouldn't have done this for $40," completely missing the point. When I politely asked if there was anything he could do to make it right after a month of inconvenience, he flatly said no. This could have been handled professionally and respectfully, but instead it turned into an unnecessarily uncomfortable interaction. Big credit to Dusty for being understanding and helpful -- unfortunately, the owner seriously dropped the ball here. I won't be returning, and I'd recommend being very clear and cautious about approving any work before leaving your bike here.

KC completed my fitting with an incredible attention to detail. He adjusted my cleats, fitted my bike and even gave me a sense of what another seat might feel like with the new fitting. He is attentive., Thorough and explains everything that he needs to do to your bike to have it running properly. My son has a very expensive bike and does not trust just anyone to work on it. He trust Robert cycle shop implicitly.
