I had a full tri bike clean and re-build (over $500), and the crank bolt loosens with every ride and my brake quick release won't close. They didn't tighten my saddle bolt and it shifted me off my bike mid-ride. My husband has taken flats here 4 TIMES in 2 months, and they keep busting due to improper tube installation. Took it to Trek and it hasn't given him a problem in a year. We would recommend you look elsewhere for repairs. I can't speak to their bike sales.

Instead, when I came back, they told me they repaired a crank that they claimed was "bent and unrepairable" -- something I never asked them to diagnose or fix. You shouldn't perform extra work and charge a customer for it without approval, especially when it wasn't the reason the bike was brought in. When I came back to address this, Dusty (one of the mechanics) was very reasonable and genuinely helpful. He understood the situation, and worked with me to reduce the bill from $140 to $40, which I appreciated. Honestly, if the bike actually needed that repair, I can live with the charge. The real issue was the attitude and handling of the situation by the owner. I waited about 20 minutes for the owner to come speak with me, even though I had to be at work and had to ask Dusty to grab him again. When he finally came out, he was dismissive and rude, repeatedly fixating on the $40 price instead of addressing the real problem -- that the wrong repair was done in the first place. Even after calmly explaining that I wasn't blaming him and simply wanted some accountability, he kept responding with, "I wouldn't have done this for $40," completely missing the point. When I politely asked if there was anything he could do to make it right after a month of inconvenience, he flatly said no. This could have been handled professionally and respectfully, but instead it turned into an unnecessarily uncomfortable interaction. Big credit to Dusty for being understanding and helpful -- unfortunately, the owner seriously dropped the ball here. I won't be returning, and I'd recommend being very clear and cautious about approving any work before leaving your bike here.

I paid over $400 so they could replace like three different things and it somehow made the problem worse. Took it to my cousin (bike enthusiast, and by no means a professional) and he said the problem was super obvious, tightened some screws and fixed it in five minutes. I no longer trust the pony shop for anything bigger than a tune-up. They're also pretty good at inflating tires.

1 Star - Disappointing Experience, Poor Service Attitude…read more I went to Al's Bicycle Service for help with a single tire tube I had installed myself. I wasn't sure if I had done it correctly and just wanted a second opinion. Larry, the person at the shop, insisted that both the front and rear tire tubes should be replaced and asked me to leave the bike overnight for pickup the next day. The next day, Larry called and said the tires themselves were in bad shape and also needed to be replaced--adding significantly more cost. When I returned to the shop, he showed me the worn tires and quoted over $100 for the full job. Given the age of the bike, I chose not to proceed. To my surprise, Larry handed the bike back with the tire in his hand--no tube inside. I asked him to at least reassemble the tire the way I left it. He did, but casually told me that he had thrown away the tube I had originally installed. This felt unprofessional and dismissive. Instead of a helpful service, it came across like a "take it or leave it" money grab. Very disappointing experience. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this shop to others.

Toto's on Green Bay Road in Highland Park did a terrible job on my daughter's bicycle last year…read more They installed the training wheels in a way that was neither effective, safe, or affordable. My daughter was afraid to use it because the training wheels kept being pushed up, meaning she could have fallen. I think I was charged ~$80.00 USD. When I returned to Toto's to talk about it, they'd already shuttered. So they got my money, and the money of who knows how many other people who also received subpar service. Good riddance, IMO.

KC completed my fitting with an incredible attention to detail. He adjusted my cleats, fitted my bike and even gave me a sense of what another seat might feel like with the new fitting. I am an amateur cycling enthusiast, not a pro, and a not a mechanic, but I want to feel like I know what is going on with my bike. I brought my triathlon bike to the shop last week and cannot say enough positive things about the mechanics there. Rob was knowledgeable, kind, and explained everything he was going to do on my bike (including tune-up, new tire, new tubes, new chain, new cassette, etc). He also assured me that he is experienced with triathlon bikes from having worked at triathlon shops previously. When I picked up my bike today, it looks like brand new. Whether you're looking for a new bike, or getting a tune up on an old bike, or just seeking out an accessory, you will find exactly what you're looking for here. This is the type of place that is both organized and seemingly has everything you're looking for, it kinda feels like a bicycle shop from a movie (and it smells like brand new bicycle tires ). But most of all, after buying a new bike, getting a tune up on an old bike, and purchasing a few locks, I received a hand written thank you card with a sticker! That is the kind of gesture that buys permanent loyalty from this customer. My only quibble is that they should get stickers of their business logo since it's pretty dope looking.
