The interior. This was taken Pre-Covid about 2 years ago.

My bike was serviced here a couple of times and the work they do at this location is very good. The first visit they fixed a flat tire and this recent episode they did the following. * Brought my bike in for a full tune up * Replaced my handle grips * Installed a kickstand * Did a saddle replacement. My used Trek went without service for years so the tune up and refresh was desperately needed. I went on my first ride since the repairs and my bike rides like a dream! My tire hose was replaced, they trued (aligned) my wheels and adjusted my front and rear derailleurs. I no longer hear squeaks when I hit my brakes and I don't hear my chain make a clack noise when I'm pedaling. During COVID times, an appointment is highly recommended. Services are to be prepaid via credit card. Expect lines out the door. I waited at least 20 minutes on a weekend to pick up my bike but these days this is the norm.

    New chainguard!

I was trying to install a chainguard, but my (wrong size) crank puller got stuck in the threads, and Chris was kind enough to squeeze me into their booked schedule. They approached my problem with efficiency, compassion, and integrity. In addition to the automated notification for bike pick-up, I also received a personalized email from Chris detailing the work and kindly validating my own shoddy work. All of the workers are so friendly and knowledgable. As much as I hope my bike doesn't require maintenance often, having to revisit W&S would be a pleasure.

I stopped in here just before Memorial Day. I really, REALLY appreciate the COVID-19 protocols they have in place (or did, at that time--things have changed statewide in the interim so I'm not sure what may be in effect as of today). They had a line forming outside the store, and there was a staff member who came out every few minutes to check on what folks were there for and letting them in one at a time to ensure there weren't too many people in the store at one time. Masks were required at that time, and they'd hit you with a squirt of hand sanitizer as you came in the store. The sales staff I spoke with just left me kinda lukewarm, though. I went in and mentioned I was interested in an eBike, and they showed me one. I had mentioned I was particularly interested in Tern, and gave a couple reasons for why that was, but the person I spoke with showed me the Tern model they had (just one, it seemed), and then showed me over to the Trek bikes instead and said he'd suggest that one. I'm not really sure why he didn't seem interested in giving me much info on the Tern model that they *did* have, and instead pushed me toward the Trek. I was in the store for probably about 15 minutes and he spent maybe 1-2 minutes on the Tern and then talked about the Trek and showed me some of the information online about it. They also don't offer test rides as a general rule. I'm not sure if that's a COVID precaution or not. If so, it makes some sense, but I wasn't sure if that was it because he didn't say that whilst the pandemic was happening they couldn't offer them. He did say that if I contacted them to arrange a test ride before or after hours that it might be possible. But I'm wasn't prepared to buy a bike I'd never tried before (especially since it's been some time since I rode a bike) without testing it out first, especially at the price point of e-bikes, and having to make an appointment before or after hours was somewhat of an inconvenience since I work during the week and would have had to wait another week or two to do a weekend--and that was even if they let me since he didn't fill me with confidence that they'd definitely set up a test ride if I wanted one. On the plus side, the store was much larger than the other bike stores I've been to and they had a good deal of inventory and accessories. On the other, I just didn't feel like I got the level of personal attention or assistance; it was more like they would answer basic questions about the bike, but as someone who doesn't know much about bikes and bike riding as a hobby I didn't really know what to ask. In fact, I specifically asked if there was something he thought was important to know about them that I hadn't asked because I hoped that would get him to give me more than just superficial information about their inventory. TL;DR: It was ok. If your'e interested in e-bikes, there are better stores (Four Star Family Cyclery would be my suggestion). And if you don't already have a handle on what you're looking for in a bike, you might not be given much more information to help you understand the options/features to make your choice.

    My new TREK

BIKE FALLING APART! They did not tighten the peddle crank upon assembly of my bike.. The whole crank came off while riding 16+ MPH on the Lake trail. I'm lucky I didn't get hurt. I spoke with TREK and they informed me that the assembly person "FAILED TO CHECK THE TORQUE" upon assembly. I'm really disappointed!

Others may have had better service, but believe the negative reviews they have received because they are true as well. I went here only out of convenience because I work nearby and the previous shop I went to was in Humboldt park. Rather than going far out of my way, I thought I'd give this place a try out of convenience. But suffice it to say the pretentious roadie vibes are very real here and I should've stuck with my old shop. I went in to get my tubeless tires changed. That was it. It turned into sooo much more. When I first went in, I had already previously purchased tires in the fall and didn't bother getting the service done until spring. The tech laughed at me for not bringing in the correct tires for the bike.... I explained, no they are correct, I am not stupid. He then laughed it off... oh you're right, they are just so freaking dusty I couldn't tell(they had been in my basement since winter) This then turned into inspecting my bike and telling me I was going to need new handle bars all of a sudden? A full inspection because "things weren't working", and then the ancillary fees associated" new bar tape, labor, etc.) I reluctantly agreed, which turned into a 2 month process with my bike. They called me saying I needed new forks but could only get the ones they had picked, they couldn't return it to me without doing that work. The back and forth went on for so long I eventually said let me pay you for the work you have done and give me my bike back. It turns out the only work they had done was disassembling my bike. Take the bearings out of the forks, taking the bar tape off. And giving it back in that condition without the tires being done when that was all I wanted in the first place. Then they charged me 40 bucks for their "work". Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. After asking around, there are better shops in Evanston. Save yourself the trouble you might encounter from these guys. Thanks but no thanks Pony.

I'm a bit of a picky shopper, and I compared to other bike shops in Evanston, and Everyday Cycles has completely won me over. Some of the great things: * Knowledgeable staff helps you choose the right things for your needs, whether fitting you to a bike or looking for an accessory. * Not pushy or overly sales-y. * The shop is small, so there is not a lot of product on hand, but you can tell that the products they carry have been vetted... It seems like someone working there has done research on the products and hand-picked the best products out there, so there may be only a few items to choose from, but they are the ones you would want anyway. They can also order items, of course. * Customer service went above and beyond expectations to address a minor manufacturer issue. * Convenient location Story time: The bicycle I chose to purchase (after a great experience trying out different bikes with different frame sizes) had a manufacturing defect on the rim. They swapped the rim with the same kind from another bike, which to me would have resolved the issue, because this other rim was satisfactory and would have completely evened out after breaking it in. (The original, defective rim was sent back to the manufacturer.) However, they went above and beyond and decided that they wanted to put a different, better model of rims on this type of bike, so they essentially upgraded my rims, which exceeded my expectations! I love the bike, love the shopping experience, advice, and expertise. I look forward to giving them more of my business.

It's like a used bookstore of sporting equipment, which feels very comfortable. Yesterday I stopped in looking for a free-standing pull-up bar, on a whim that they might have it, and lo and behold they had a Power Tower that was exactly what I needed. Mike was very can-do and cleared out a space for me to try it out, adjusting the height so it would work for me (I'm 6'7", hence the need for a pull-up higher than a door frame bar), and gave me plenty of space and no pressure to try it out. I bought it on the spot. I knew it probably wouldn't fit in my car and was only there for groceries at the Valli's supermarket in the same shopping center, and asked if I could could pick it up tomorrow (today) and Mike worked out when he'd have it disassembled by in time for me, and then offered to drop it off at my place at the end of the day for free (given I live relatively close in South Evanston), which was amazing and I took him up on it. This morning I woke up and couldn't get the idea of doing pull-ups at home out of my head, and stopped by at 10:30 am just after they opened, and Mike was not at all surprised to see me, was very ready to disassemble the item and try to load it into my car, and sure enough my car was too small. He then, unbelievably, offered to drive it over to my place on the spot. I was incredulous that he'd give me that kind of time during the business day. Besides this exceptional customer service experience (I hope I don't get Mike in trouble with customers asking for home delivery! ), they also have great selection and I've gotten a used skateboard there for my daughter and water bottles. When my daughter gets old enough to play sports, I'm sure I'll be back. And as I'm kitting out my home gym setup, this will be my first stop.

NOTE: I decided some time ago that Anywhere Else are my first, second, third... choices because the owner here at PAIS has *YELLED* at me three times for not pickup up an order that was not really a special order. He's absolutely crazy! He also *YELLED OBSCENITIES" at me for mentioning (as gently as I could) that he didn't cut my son's skates on-center, and "Could we find a way to guarantee a better cut?" But I digress... So I had to buy a piece of branded Evanston hockey gear, and only PIAS-Evanston carried it. All options of buying elsewhere were off the table. So I had no choice but to go into this establishment. I brought my son--thinking surely the owner would not yell at me in front of my son. Luckily the owner wasn't there. So I just introduced my son to the staff--who were tossing around a football (important job, I guess?). Staff Guy #1 said hi and turned to Staff Guy #2 and said "You help him." and then returned to doing nothing. Staff Guy #2 said to my son "There's a pile of those there; help yourself." After about 2-3 minutes of digging through a junky pile my son could not find the item in the size he was looking for, so I asked Guy #2 "Could you please help him?" Guy #2 said: "He should be perfectly capable." and returned to throwing a football to Guy #3. Long story. No help. My son dug and dug and dug amidst the junk and finally found one piece in the right size... no thanks to The PIAS-Evanston Team! So if you are expecting Customer Service here, you will be disappointed. Their excuse: "We're just in high school."
