My sisters and I came to Boston on a trip and were looking for a vegan friendly restaurant and stumbled upon this one. Normally, it is extremely hard for us to eat a an all vegan place because of severe allergies to nuts, but this place is NUT-FREE (except for a couple of items). The food here was mmm...mmm...good. Everything is cooked and seasoned to perfection and you get a good sized amount for the amount you pay. We tried the Reuben Sandwich with potato salad, the Buffalo Chick'n Sandwich with slaw, and the Tuna Melt with onion rings, then ended up sharing a brownie sundae with vanilla ice. BEST EVER!! What a great meal I had here! 5 stars for you Veggie Galaxy! It is so refreshing to be able to get a vegan meal and to feel like it is better or as good anything you could order as a non-vegan meal. Everything my party and I ordered was perfect. For my main course, I had vegan mac and cheese. It was delicious. I miss me some mac and cheese after going vegan for a few months, then discovering I was dairy intolerant when I wanted to add some other foods back into my diet. But I digress. One of my daughters had a faux tuna melt made with chickpeas. It was also super delicious. I ordered an avocado stuffed with the same fake tuna and loved it. We all ordered frappes with our meal or for dessert and they were all rich, smooth and tasty. We ordered the mocha, chocolate, and coffee. I recommend them in that order. The coffee was a little less rich. We started with some great signature cocktails. I had a whiskey drink that tasted like a Negroni. We received excellent service on our visit. Our waiter really knew the menu well and he was very helpful and efficient. The vibe was cool and hipstery, Veggie Galaxy offered a diner feel inside. Weird story, but during our visit, there was a fire alarm on the block and we had to go outside for a few minutes. It was kind of strange but fun in a way ... a highlight was I got a great shot of a couple doing some impromptu al fresco dining in the snow! A 3.5. It's definitely a good vegan/vegetarian restaurant. The vibe/environment there is also fantastic. Servers are very friendly and attentive. However, the food honestly tasted average. I came with a party of 4, and we all ordered something different. I got the BLT, the rest of the group got the blue plate (a tater tots dish), loaded mac and cheese, and the galaxy burger. We all got to try some of each other dishes, and I think that they were all good vegan dishes, but not the best taste-wise. I think they were trying really hard to mimic dishes that are classically not vegan, but failed. I think they should have embraced the unique vegan dishes and market it that way. For example, I got the BLT and the seitan "bacon" tasted/looked nothing like bacon. They should have just called it a vegan sandwich or something. We all agreed that the burger was also meh - not the best veggie/vegan burger. The description of it said that i was also supposed to taste like meat but it really didn't. I liked the restaurant, but I thought the food was above average. Compared to other places making seitan based vegan dishes, veggie galaxy is pretty good, but I think it does not taste as good as the non-vegan dishes that they are trying to compare their foods to. I believe this is my second review, I went to Veggie Galaxy late night for some appetizers and beer. I was seated immediately, ordered a pitcher of beer but received my food before the beer. I did not like feeling rushed to drink beer. The table was kind of dirty too, with the trash from the previous patron. The food was very good. I have the cheese fries and the black bean burger. Maybe I'm just picky, or maybe this isn't the place for me, but I didn't really love the food here. If you are a meat eater, and are skeptical of the fake meats, this might not be the spot, though I could see it being a vegan person's heaven. The atmosphere is what you expect in a diner and the service is pretty good as well. The only issue with our food is the Mac and cheese was kinda cold for some reason which leads me to believe it isn't fresh. The broccoli cheddar soup was good though. And the Reuben sandwich was alright. When I try the 'meat' by itself, it isn't really good and has a funny texture, but in a sandwhich or smothered in sauce it is bearable. As for the receipt at the end, beware that there is a 5% kitchen appreciation fee, and when you get the receipt the suggested gratuity is the percent on top of the subtotal, tax, and kitchen appreciation fee - so it is fairly high. If you love vegan food, I'd say this place might be a bit, but for meat lovers it's somewhat a miss for me. read more

I've been here three times and believe that this is an amazing choice to bring vegetarians to. Everything I've had here has always been so tasty. There are so many menu options, seriously, you could stare at the menu for a while and still not be decided on what to order. The servers are also pretty open to making menu changes if required - never seen folks who were so accommodating. In terms of great choices - the portobello mushroom burger is amazing with the potato salad as a side. The buffalo chicken burger provides a spicy kick and is great for those who enjoy onion rings in their burger. I would recommend the plain French toast (with a sauce or fruit on the side) as opposed to the stuffed French toast. The stuffed French toast mainly seems to have sauces as the 'stuffed' portion rather than cut fruit as it is in many other restaurants. The wait time does get pretty high here but plan ahead to put your name down and you'll likely be pleasantly surprised by the actual amount of time you'll have to wait. The one downside to this place is that I believe the 2 person table seating on the back end of the restaurant is quite cramped, and the place would benefit from spreading that space out to either more restaurant area or minimizing a table to make guests more comfortable. PSA... if you order a milkshake, you get a LOT of milkshake, so plan to share or stay away if you can't handle the SHAKE. Love their decor, love the friendly and relaxed vibe, love everything. I have been looking forward to eating at Veggie Galaxy since I planned my trip to Boston. I was so excited to share this place with my group and even more excited for all the vegan options. So much stuff on the menu to choose from. We stopped in for a late lunch and the staff is nice and helpful. We just used the QR code on table to view menu and place our order. The order was then delivered to our table within a reasonable amount of time. The food was soooo good and everything tasted great to me. My non vegan family members really liked everything as well. They were just bummed that many items on menu were already showing as out of stock. Overall it was really good and we had a nice late lunch/early dinner. This place gets busy. As we were leaving, we could see the outdoor seating area was full and the wait time was like 30 minutes. When visiting a new place I always try to find the best vegetarian spot and see what they have to offer. After reading reviews and scoping out the yelp pics we decided to come here for lunch and experience it ourselves. Arrived around noon and had to wait 20-25 mins so spent some time at a local record shop. After being seated and look at the menu, there was so many options to choose. End up ordering more then needed but oh well cuz that's what you're suppose to do when trying a new place out. After putting the order in it was only 5-7 minutes til our food arrived. Peanut butter / coconut milkshake - One of the best vegan shakes I've had by far Potato salad - Too dry, more of a mashed potato Biscuits and Gravy W/Sausage - Biscuits was amazing, Sausage was on the soft side and could've used more browning. Gravy could be a bit thicker also. Buffalo chicken Burger / House chips / spring mix salad - very generous portion but the patty was a bit over cooked and tough. Just a vegan patty dipoles with buffalo hot sauce. The sides was amazing with fresh house chips and side salad. Stuffed French Toast W/Mixed Berries - So good and fluffy bread and the berries made it outstanding with the crunch of the texture. My vegan cousin's favorite place to eat in Boston. She's obsessed with the vegan breakfast and really does it up everytime she comes with tempeh sausage, and the works. I opted for the vegan BLT, which was really yummy. It came with mixed greens which were dressed with a lemony dressing that was citrusy and tasty. The cole slaw was also really good as well. We finished up our breakfast with the chocolate cream pie (also vegan), which was really fantastic. You have to like coconut, however, as this particular dessert had a lot of coconut flavor in addition to the chocolate (I assume they use coconut cream in place of dairy). I recently went to Veggie Galaxy for the second time, and had high hopes. My first visit was two years ago, and I had thought the food was ok, but not great. Recently, I started switching from a vegetarian to vegan diet, and thought I would appreciate the food more. However, when I got home I was incredibly sick- even though I didn't eat any dairy (which is what normally makes me sick). The concept of Veggie Galaxy is so interesting and fun! My friend (who has never had vegan food) and I came on a Tuesday at around 6pm and were seated immediately. We both eat meat, but wanted to try this place since the theme was so cute! Who doesn't like classic American diners (but with an inclusive menu for plant based eaters?!) The decor is very cute and service was very friendly! "Chicken" Fingers: The seitan was fried perfectly and this appetizer was such a generous size! I honestly was already full after eating 3 of these bad boys. The sauce that came with was amazing too! (I wish I knew what it was!) Fried pickles: Who doesn't like fried pickles? This was also a super generous portion and it was delicious. Just as expected! Special Burger: I unfortunately forgot the name of this burger, but it had seitan and mac n cheese! This was my first time tasting vegan mac n cheese and I was so curious about it before coming in. One bite and I knew vegan mac n cheese might be the way to go for me. The burger patty was I believe also seitan and had that soft texture. Overall it was really good, but I was full after eating half! "Meatball" sub: My friend ordered this meatball sub, but it was unfortunately a little underwhelming. The meatballs are also made of seitan, but when you think of meatball, you think of a chewier texture. The seitan was still very soft so it didn't really blow us out of the water. Maybe this would've been okay if we hadn't ordered all seitan, but by this point in the meal we were kind of tired of the same types of texture. Berry cheesecake: so so so good. Tastes just like normal cheesecake?? How did they do that??? Overall I'd definitely like to come back to try a full plate of their vegan mac n cheese. I like cheese, but usually mac n cheese can get really overwhelming for me since I didn't grow up eating cheese all the time. Vegan mac n cheese left me feeling less bloated so I'm extra curious to try it again! Plus, vegan desserts are really great! The seitan dishes were good, but I do wish they had cooked it a different way to make it have more variety in texture which I think would make the dishes even more awesome, but overall I'm really pleased with the presentation and the experience! :) I can imagine real vegetarians/vegans would go crazy over this place and now I have another restaurant to bring my non-meat eating friends! read more
