However, the new owners tried to deceive me about my husband's new suit. Despite all the tags being intact, they claimed it had been dry cleaned, but it was in the same pristine condition as when it was dropped off. Previously, my business suits were returned wrinkled and dirty. It's unfortunate that the previous owners had to sell because Hunters Mill was the best dry cleaner I've had in a long time, especially since we've lived all over the US.

Hunters Mill Cleaners is the third establishment to which I have bequeathed some of my hard-earned…read moremoney in exchange for laundry and press services. It is located in a wee plaza behind a Giant supermarket off of Indian Head Hwy, so it is close to various other useful shops that may help Yelpers hit several birds with one stone on any visit to the area. Friendly Barber Shop is just up the road, and there are a few mechanics' shops, a Domino's Pizza, and other things. As for Hunters Mill Cleaners, I dropped off my dress trousers to be laundered and pressed yesterday afternoon, and I picked them up around 5pm today. On arrival yesterday, there were about 5 people behind the counter, all of them silent save for the random comments they near-whispered to each other. I waited about 5 minutes for the transaction ahead of me to be concluded, and was then silently motioned over to the desk for attention. Everyone behind the counter did make eye contact with me and the others who slowly came into the shop, but no one behind the counter spoke up with a basic acknowledgement. Today, again, the staff were pretty quiet and chatted somewhat amongst themselves, and didn't really seem to be too interested in saying hello at the very least, either to me or to the random persons that walked in after me. I am certain they were focused on carrying on with their work, so I don't blame them if they felt a little non-plussed about greeting customers looking to drop off their items. I am now however pretty curious about trying out 5ive & 2wo Cleaners in Alexandria, for the reviews I have read about them and their very engaging custom of greeting their customers. Its not that I expect to have a red carpet rolled out for me or get treated like a rock star simply for going to leave off clothes for dry cleaning. I guess as I am still relatively new to the area, I am looking for those shops that seem interested in showing a wee bit of pride in their business and want to make a good first impression on a customer. Hunters Mill Cleaners gave me a clear price for my laundry request ($4.59); they cleaned and pressed as I asked; and had it ready for pick-up like they said would happen, and like I expected to pay for, all with minimal interaction. Bargain.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with professionalism, friendliness, and excellent customer service. My garments were returned looking fresh, clean, and perfectly cared for. The attention to detail and quality of the work exceeded my expectations. It's clear that the team takes pride in what they do and truly values their customers. Thank you to everyone at Yates Dry Cleaning for making my first visit such a great experience. I appreciate your hard work, dedication, and commitment to providing top-quality service. I will definitely be returning and recommending your business to others. -- Jamar DeJan

I was a loyal customer of this dry cleaner for several years and trusted them with numerous…read moregarments, including dry cleaning and tailoring. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing and has permanently changed my view of this establishment. In June 2026, I received a dress back damaged. I had worn the dress only once before bringing it in for cleaning. The dress cost $470. After I reported the damage, I was asked to provide the retailer's website so they could verify the cost and arrange reimbursement. I was later told the business was waiting to restock the dress, with no estimated delivery date. I explained that I preferred reimbursement rather than having the business purchase a replacement on my behalf. What made this experience particularly troubling was a subsequent phone conversation with a member of management. While I was calmly and respectfully discussing the damaged garment and seeking a resolution, the manager stated that she would not be treated "like a slave." As a Black woman whose family has a personal history of sharecropping and whose father grew up during the Jim Crow era, I found that remark deeply offensive and completely inappropriate in the context of a customer service conversation. Regardless of intent, that language was unnecessary and caused genuine distress. When I asked for the owner's contact information so I could address my concerns directly, the call was ended. I called back and spoke with another employee, who apologized for the interaction and indicated that someone would follow up. I appreciated her attempt to help. However, I subsequently sent a formal letter to the owner detailing the damaged garment, the interaction with management, and my concerns. I never received a response to my letter. I eventually received a $400 check and a $100 store credit. Although I received some compensation, the check did not cover the full cost of the dress, and the store credit is of no value to me because I will never return to this establishment. After years of loyalty and patronage, I expected accountability for the damage to my clothing, respectful treatment, and the courtesy of a response from ownership. Instead, I was left disappointed by both the customer service experience and the lack of communication from the owner. For me, this is about more than a damaged dress. It is about how a business treats a longtime customer when something goes wrong, the language used during a customer service interaction, and whether management is willing to take responsibility and address legitimate concerns. Unfortunately, this experience has permanently broken my trust in this business. I will not be returning. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and recognizes the importance of treating every customer with professionalism, respect, and accountability.
