I took it to him on Monday afternoon and he said it was probably the cable to the hard drive and that he would email me as soon as he knew. He spent a good bit of time trying to get my laptop to boot up and eventually removed the hard drive and battery to take them to his home workshop so he could retrieve my info and put it on my thumb drive. He rang me in the evening to say that sadly the hard drive was corrupt and couldn't be accessed. The battery had begun to bow upward, so it was a goner too. In his opinion the 7 year old machine wasn't worth fixing because at that age things would just keep going wrong. Kinda like a used car. In the end he didn't charge me a penny because he wasn't able to fix my machine! How often does that happen?!! The staff is great always so kind to me in my old age. I see them as a sort of family as all my children left me when they grew up and started their families.
