came here looking for a shadow box that was online and couldn't find in store. asked an employee…read moreand they said that it should be and that they arrived a month ago. He went all the way in the back stockroom for about ten minutes and actually came out with what we were looking for!! Absolutely phenomenal customer service, and the store was spotless and easy to navigate, as opposed to michael's. They actually honor their online sales which is such a breath of fresh air after being in michael's where they tried to charge us twice the price in store vs online. Highly recommend shopping here for craft supplies, the environment is so much better. :)

I really dislike giving negative reviews, but I also cannot tolerate rude behavior .. And, this is…read morethe first time I have felt compelled to write a review BECAUSE of a manager's explicitly rude behavior. I was referred to Jo-Ann's by a [male] clerk at another local store when I asked if they carried a little sewing kit. When he told me about Jo-Ann's I was not only grateful, I was happy to be able to check it out because I love fabric stores. And, the fact that this one had a smattering of craft supplies was also a plus, since I also need spray adhesive. I browsed the store and found a couple more items to purchase, including some burlap. The young woman at the cutting counter was helping a family when I got there, so I took a number and patiently waited for her to cut fabric for her other customer. The manager of the store, Jason, busied himself inventorying thread nearby. While I was waiting, and elderly lady walked up to Jason and asked if he could help her check out up front. Jason got up pretty quickly, but as he walked past her he said something to the effect of "there's a bell up there you can ring to get our attention." On the face of it, that wasn't a bad thing to say, but his tone and attitude were condescending and impatient. He came back to his task pretty quickly, seemingly ignoring the fact that I was still waiting at the cutting counter. Eventually he walked over to see what was taking so long, but did not ask to cut what I needed (1 yard of burlap). I'm not sure why, but the young lady who was working there stopped helping the other couple and came to cut my order. Once she had, she offered to ring me up, but I told her I would go up front. Jason had come back over to the counter at that point and said that I should wait at the cutting counter 'because she'll be just a minute" and went back to his inventory. There was some discrepancy with the other customer over the price of the fabric and the cutting clerk had to try and resolve it. At that point Jason came back, commented about the fabric price (again in a snide way) and then turned to me and said "I can take you up front. Apparently they are having 'issues'." In between he had interacted with a couple of other shoppers and said some things I don't quite recall, but again seemed rude and condescending to me as I watched. The husband who was at the cutting counter and I exchanged looks and a brief remark about how rude he was being as well. So, I took my stuff, and the number I had originally pulled, up to the front and figured I'd be out in a minute and be done with this experience that was getting overly negative for no apparent reason. I asked Jason if he could throw away the number ticket and he reached for it, but as he did, he snidely said "you only need a number if there's a crowd of people." Well that was the last straw, and I started to tell Jason that I had been watching and listening to him interact with others only to find his attitude to be poor, and that ..." Well, Mr. Attitude started to ARGUE with me - and interrupted me to do so! No apology, not appreciation for the $40+ I was spending, he just kept escalating the issue. And, he rolled his eyes at me, and told me he received compliments all day. To which I replied "well you're not getting one from me." Honestly, I think Jason has some deep-seeded issues, but I could be wrong. Maybe it was just that day and that particular set of circumstances. But I'd be willing to bet that Jason does not have as good a reputation among customers as he thinks he does. And, like I said at the beginning, I have never had such a poor interaction with a store manager - much less one in the NRV as I did on Sunday. So, buyers beware, if you go to Jo-Ann's you may find what you're looking for, and more, but if you have to interact with Jason, you may be in for some verbal abuse. Needless to say, I'd rather drive to Roanoke, or find another store to shop in than deal with Jason again. Maybe Jo-Ann's should have an experience survey like Michael's does to collect some info on how they're doing.
