I do NOT like hot dogs- UNLESS, Im at the shake shak- I cannot resist getting a footlong (regular or chili). Im not sure what brand they use, or the amazing chili sauce they use, but its the only kind that doesn't upset my stomach, and it tastes so good. Its a summer staple for us- the ice cream is always great and given I am pickier than I should be- the folks that work there- always get my complicated order made right on. I travel 20 minutes now to go there, as I live over by Bascom, and its worth it, because I know it will be exactly as you want it.

In Tiffin for a soccer game, we stopped at Uncle Mike's Dairy bar to get celebratory ice cream for…read moremy son's goal. Parking at the walk-up dairy bar was easy, with clearly marked spaces located behind the restaurant. Going up to the order window, we were immediately impressed with the selection of items offered, which felt larger than your typical ice cream shop. My son tried to order a grasshopper milkshake, but was informed that they had run out of mint. Instead he picked a regular sized hot fudge milkshake and a sloppy joe sandwich. Being allergic to peanuts, I asked the girl at the counter what was in a couple of the flavours of flurries on the menu, and while she was super nice, she was also super clueless, as she had to ask two different people each time. After eventually confirming that the black forest flurry did not have any of The Legume of Satan in it, I ordered a junior size, plus a coney dog. In total our bill came to $10.80, which seemed very reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. The wait to receive our food was pretty typical at just a few minutes. When it arrived, we were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes, as the junior flurry was generously sized, and the sloppy joe was a full-sized sandwich rather than the skimpier version you might get elsewhere. Taste-wise, our orders were great, as my son declared the hot fudge milkshake to be excellent and my black forest flurry was very good. Likewise the coney sauce on my dog had a great, meaty flavour, and I really appreciated how it did not turn the hotdog bun into a soggy mess! While I liked the easy parking, great selection, and good tasting food, it could not completely make up for the otherwise clueless staff or ingredient shortages. As such, I rate Uncle Mike's Dairy Bar as being Good and would return.

The restaurant is located on the main traffic area and is easily accessible. This weekend we stopped by for lunch with a couple of our grandkids and had excellent service. Our meals came out quickly and everyone was pleased with their choices. Our grandson had the Super Big Boy (which he quickly devoured) and fries. Our granddaughter decided on breakfast, which you can order any time of the day. She got 2 pancakes, bacon and an egg. David and I got the Regular Big Boy. He ordered onion rings for a side and I got the fries and Cole slaw. Service was great, food was tasty and came out quickly and just as we had ordered. Will definitely be back again.

We don't visit often, but when in Tiffin we usually choose Big Boy for lunch. This experience made us not want to visit again. The fries were barely warm, the Big Boy, which isn't as big, was also barely warm and not sure what the meat was but being colder made it "chewy". The server never asked how the food was, not I know why. While we were digesting our cold lunches, we saw that the server didn't charge the table beside us, and that made the meal more miserable. I understand the "Pay it forward" thing, but from what she said it wasn't a person that paid for it, it was her choosing. There goes the happy childhood memory!
