I rarely leave negative reviews, but I also believe honesty matters…read more I rented a van from U-Haul Moving & Storage of Sun Lakes during an already stressful move and reserved a utility dolly as part of the rental. When I arrived, I was told the dolly was unavailable despite it being included in my reservation. I understand inventory issues happen, but moving heavy items without equipment you planned and paid for creates a major inconvenience. What made this especially frustrating was how dismissive the response felt. If the reserved equipment was unavailable, the least the staff could have done was help locate another nearby U-Haul location where we could have gotten one instead of simply sending us on our way without a solution. What added to the frustration was the disconnect between the advertised pricing and the actual cost once mileage and other charges were added. The initial compensation offered for the inconvenience was $9, which honestly felt dismissive and inadequate given the situation. After further communication, the General Manager did increase it to $25, and I do appreciate that he remained professional and responsive throughout the process. Overall, I left feeling like customer expectations are set one way online, while the reality at pickup can be very different. Not the worst experience I've ever had, but definitely not one I'd enthusiastically recommend either.
