They were on our wedding venue's recommendation list, along with five other caterers. We narrowed the options down to two (Distinctive and Maddalenas) for tastings and Maddalenas killed it! The citrus salmon, airline chicken, and truffle glazed sirloin were all amazing... and affordable!! Amy was a great host and communicator all throughout the planning process. Covid restrictions unexpectedly forced us to delay, then ultimately cancel our wedding for quick overseas nuptials... and they offered to refund our deposit, no questions asked. Times like this show a company's character for better or worse and I can't believe how great and understanding they were! Definitely booking them for my next event!

First off, Amy, the catering manager, did everything she could to serve us in a short notice, even though they had other wedding that day. We met with her and got an in-person menu explanation, then taste testing with the chef, Matt. He was so knowledgeable about what meals travelled well and when my husband didn't like the topping on the chicken (since he doesn't like mushrooms, even though I LOVE mushrooms), the chef was willing to switch the sauce with the one we both loved. Highly recommend their sirloin and airline chicken! The week of the event, Amy and her assistant came out to my private resident venue (yes - my covid venue) and scoped out the best spot for the buffet line and serving stations. She dropped off the linens for us prior too and was willing to pick them up after the event was done. On the day of the wedding, Amy offered to get my husband and I our plates so we didn't have to stress about waiting in line! HOW AWESOME! Seriously they went above and beyond. Also, to top it off... they have the option of doing late night pizza delivery... which we did and it was amazing! 10/10 recommend them, and sooo glad I did my "Covid wedding" because it was better than my original plan thanks to them!

They are refusing to refund any money besides the cost of the shells--which is way less than the amount that a guest (who had to leave venue) had to pay at a local grocery store--therefore I'm having to pay more to the guest than I'm getting refunded. They also packaged the bags so full that the bags busted open and the food was unusable. But they won't take responsibility for that either--as they "aren't responsible for food after they leave." I have never been so disappointed with a company.

Even before we decided to reschedule, we received an email from them stating they would be flexible with us if we needed to change the details of our event. That was such a huge weight off our shoulders. The food we've tasted has been so yummy, and part of the reason we're disappointed we had to reschedule is because we were really looking forward to the dinner at our wedding! Pound for pound THE best barbecue in Grand Rapids. I've been coming to Two Scotts on and off for…read morethe better part of the past 11 years and this place's quality and consistency has held better than the S&P 500. The flavor is out of this world. Smoky, deep, savory, and the accompanying chorus of sauces keeps the meal bright and varied. I got the burnt ends and the pulled chicken and it was so. Damn. Good. If you even remotely like barbecue, this needs to be at the top of your list. My only mild complaint is that back in the day they had a platter where you could sample 3 meats for like $17 or $20, which was the holy grail of barbecue experience. Nowadays you need to buy 1/2 pound minimum of each meat which can make it tough to sample their all-star lineup of succulent meats. If this were to make a return, I'd be at Two Scott's weekly. Still, pretty good value for the insane quality of food and service that you're getting here. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Banging bbq in Grand Rapids! A super find thanks to the reviews on Yelp…read more After a week on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, I was hankering for something good. I needed to stop with my family before we headed to the airport. I spotted this one on the map when searching for highly rated restaurants, and thanks to their handy-dandy online ordering system. I knew that we could plot a course get there eat our food and be on our way. No time to make our flights later this afternoon. I don't think any of us knew how delicious this meal was gonna be, but we were all glad that this was the stuff we chose to make. The smoked chicken wings were immaculate and the brisket was perfection. We also of course had rib tips and a whole slew of sides, including the smoked mushrooms and coleslaw and Housemade, tater tots, mac & cheese, baked beans and probably a few others I'm forgetting. We couldn't pick a favorite literally everything. Was that good And the sauces? Yeah, those are banging and beyond creative too. That green sauce was straight fire, and that Alabama weight style also nice for cooling things off. But if all of them were fantastic, and it was fun to make a match and find your favorite combo as we demolished the entirety of the order. Which is funny because when we placed it, we were kind of thinking this sounds like a lot of food and we didn't want any leftovers, but there were no leftovers to account for not because we ordered and forced ourselves because it was that good and we needed every bite available. Make the trip!

Bill from the Smoking Pit catered my wedding at Hydrangea Blu Barn and it was absolutely…read morephenomenal! We had chipotle bacon on a stick for an appetizer along with sausage and peppers and smoked chicken wings. For dinner we had pulled pork (amaze-balls!), smoked turkey and beef brisket. For sides we had corn on the cob, mac n' cheese, cheese potatoes (with bacon, amazing!) and homemade corn bread with honey butter. I thought I was going to bust out of my dress, I ate so much food. Everyone I talked to was raving about the food and going on and on about how it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding. Bill had his smoker on site so that the food came out fresh and he had amazing staff who kept the pans filled and the food hot. One thing I loved about Bill's set up was that he used a lot of marble and pedestals to create a beautiful buffet. This avoided the plane-Jane hotel pan look that you get with some other catered buffets. As far as price goes, Bill's pricing is very competitive compared to some other caterers in Grand Rapids. I want to have another wedding just so that I can have more barbecue. Thanks Bill for making my wedding extra awesome!
