Clássic margarita
Alex A.

Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant is a solid choice for anyone looking for a casual dining experience with decent food and drinks at reasonable prices. Their happy hour deals are definitely worth checking out, and the friendly service adds to the overall positive vibe. I would recommend it for a laid-back evening out!

Delicious food and yummy cocktails. I ordered the Mexican candy margarita and it's delicious if you like sweet drinks. The michelada just hit the spot perfectly. A fun atmosphere with the cooks singing in the back and we had excellent service. Same owners, cooks, and staff as Mi Ranchito just under a new name. Will definitely be back!

We love Mi Ranchito!!! They have the best house margarita in town. Thin crispy restaurant style chips, yummy vegetable, packed salsa, Mexican, music, playing overhead, festive decor, delicious food and a friendly staff. You can't beat me Ranchitos prices and delicious portions. We love Mi Ranchito. It is a family staple.

The monstrous margarita tower.

I reserved a table for my Wife's wedding on 9/9 and I truly cannot believe we haven't visited prior to! They set the table for us on a nice, spacious booth. The food suggestions were phenomenal and we both left completely satisfied with everything from the service, taste, speed, and personability of our server (I will happily edit her name in once we look back at our receipt). We started with the goat cheese fondue appetizer, which was rich, flavorful, and a great way to kick off the meal. I also ordered the Passion Mare cocktail, which was refreshing and paired well with lunch. Service was a little slow when we first arrived, but once things got moving, everything was smooth. The food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the location couldn't have been more convenient since it was just a short walk from our hotel. A solid option if you're staying nearby or looking for a nice lunch spot before an event.

They had a happy hour menu and a daily specials we were looking at. Had to go back to work so no drinks. They had tacos (hard or soft) listed for Tuesday at $2.50 ea, ok but then listed sold in packs of 3, 6 etc. My question is if you had to buy in packs of a certain number why list the individual price?? So I got 3, and then was told I had to order a fountain drink that I wouldn't drink at an additional $2.50. My wife ordered 2 street taco (minimum 2) at $2.50 each. That all is what it is, not mad but probably wouldn't go back just because they force you to purchase something you don't want just to get something you do want, to me that's ridiculous. If you need a minimum price for the tacos on the daily specials, just charge what you need. Then the bill came and the charge for 3 - $2.50 tacos was $8.00 Hmm! I always thought 2.50 x 3 was $7.50, nope not at this place , here it's $8.00. I know pennies but details matter and so does the principle of things. So nope, not going there again, it's a bad mojo place that's alway trying to get something from you. Plus when I asked the waitress she made up some excuse about food tax, I said yeah that tax right there under tax at the bottom of the ticket, she just walked away. Weird place the way it's run, plus too many Mexican places that are just as good or better that's has a bit more integrity and cheaper.

Since then they've expanded with several locations and I end up going to closer locations. But recently the monthly special was out at my normal Longboards but this location had it, so I ended up back in the old stomping grounds. I ordered online with no issues. They have a lot of parking. The building is pretty good sized, they basically have two rooms, one is just seating. Hawaiian vibes. Service is always friendly. I had a brief wait but my food was super fresh so I didn't mind. On my most recent visit I tried the monthly special, which was the Shaka surf and turf wrap. It was large and I had enough for two meals. I liked the tempura shrimp and the noodles. The steak had good flavor. I really like the originality of the monthly specials and tend to gravitate towards those over the regular menu but everything I've tried has been good. Check out their social media to find out more about their specials. I love that they offer hummus as a side and I always get it. They also have chips and some soft drinks. They do special collab kombuchas that I occasionally get and have liked too. Definitely check them out if you're in the area.

The interior is clean and well-decorated. The restaurant also has paintings for sale. Our waitress was very friendly and always smiling!!! For our entrees, I ordered the honey mustard chick'n sammy. It consists of a chick'n patty, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and mayo on ciabatta and served with honey mustard on the side. I ordered mine without the red onion. Believe me when I say that the patty tastes just like chicken, only less dense! The sandwich was delicious! For my side, I ordered the mac and cheese. Once again, you'd never know the difference between vegan mac and cheese vs. regular mac. The macaroni noodles were perfectly cooked and the "cheez" sauce was very creamy and had both black pepper and garlic powder. Garlicky and spicy, one of the best combinations!!! My husband ordered the buffalo mac wrap with a side of tater tots. He loved both of them! I tried the buffalo chick'n and it was very moist and not too overwhelmingly vinegary like you sometimes get when you order something with buffalo sauce on it. I also tried the tater tots and they were perfectly crisp and not greasy at all! Tree Hugger, you have gained two more customers!!! We will definitely be back!!! Keep up the great work!!!

The one thing everyone said to me when I announced I was traveling to Kansas City: "You gotta try…read morethe BBQ!" Clearly, many people forgot or don't know that I'm vegan. What they don't realize is that I'm still getting my BBQ, just maybe not the places they are thinking of! KC doesn't seem to have many vegan restaurants, but I was determined to support them all during my week-long trip. So I made the drive from downtown to Tree Hugger. Cute little restaurant in a mostly empty shopping center with plenty of parking. I am overwhelmed by the options, but decided to try the BBQ Sandwich made with pulled jackfruit. The rich pulled jackfruit is combined with creamy coleslaw, jalapeños, and fried onion strings. The jackfruit is delicious! Great texture, rich and slightly sweet. The bread is super soft, and the fried onions add a great texture. Unfortunately, to me, the jalapeños were too overpowering, and I didn't think the extra flavor and spice were needed. I would order without them next time. It is also a very heavy dish. I don't think I was prepared for how filling and heavy this dish is. I barely ate half and couldn't eat another bite! But hey, that makes it a great deal if I can get 2 portions out of it. Very friendly staff, and you can tell there's a lot of love put into this restaurant. Extra kudos to the fact that they have compost receptacles!!
