Chicken taco, rice, guacamole salad & a chili Chile Relleno.
    Brenda T.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Never crowded and service is great. But the star is the food it's delicious. The chicken taco was to die for and so was the rice and guacamole salad. The relleno had too much breading on it. But the inside was delicious. There's only one problem with this restaurant and its consistency. Sometimes the salsa is great and sometimes too spicy. The same with the refried beans, so if you don't like spicy and the beans are tinted red, don't even try them. Today even the rice was spicy. It's got to be one particular cook. Other than that they are great!

    Again extremely small portions.

Spent $97.00 at this place, then get all the way home and see this. The portion size was for a toddler, the queso was just shredded cheese melted on chips! had 5 people still hungry. I called to complain just to have the rudest man hang up on me. This is the 2nd time I have had a bad experience there and it will never go back. Please do not support businesses that don't know how to treat their paying customers. Worst experience we have ever had from restaurant. If anyone can tell me who the owner is, I would love to speak with them.

Two a la carte carne asada street tacos

Arrived at Los Compas at noon on a Saturday, swiftly seated with chips and salsa. Our party of 6 enjoyed their meals, with my personal highlight being the flavorful and generously filled carne asada street tacos. Their cheese dip is an absolute must-try. Great service, reasonably practiced, solid food!

    Caldo de camaron

Los Compas is very large, so it was great that we were seated immediately (with social distance from other tables). The salsa was fresh with a nice punch of jalapeño. I ordered the caldo de camaron (shrimp soup). It was okay, but could have been incredible if the shrimp had not been over cooked and the soup was salted. There was an overall lack of salt in all the dishes. Unfortunately, the beef and red sauce for my sons' burritos and as mentioned, my soup all needed a healthy sprinkling from the salt shaker on the table. The hubs had some sort of steak smothered in red sauce, which was perfectly cooked to medium.

This is the third time that my husband and I have tried Los Compas. Here is what you need to know. 1. The service and staff have always been super friendly and on top of making sure you have a great experience. 2. Margaritas and beer can be ordered in large amounts! Margaritas have been hit or miss. 2 times they were good. Once was too much sweet and sour. Beer has always been icy cold. 3. Food is on point and portions are large. The only thing that i have tried that I didn't like was the enchiladas. The sauce was too spaghetti-o'ish. Other than thay, food is fresh and seasoned perfectly. Other places i enjoy to give reference are El Volcan (best enchiladas), Hacienda Vieja (best margaritas) and Rudy's (just too far since we moved to Independence)

    Combination Fajitas

This is a nice Mexican joint. There is a lot of space so it's great for larger groups. Today I ordered a combination fajita which included shrimp, chicken, and beef. The shrimp is great. The beef was tough and dry. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The majority of the fajita plate is meat and onion. There are a couple small peppers you can find if you dig. I prefer more grilled flavors in my fajitas. This is very plain. But on the upside, they pile the plate so full of meat there is easily enough for 2 people to get full on one plate. I enjoy coming here because it's close and they are really friendly. Even though it's not 5 star food quality I will continue coming simply because I enjoy the people who frequently dine here.

Service slow and non attentive. Ambiance needing a redo. Tired and rundown. Absolutely the worst Mexican food I've eaten.

Good Mexican food. Portion sizes are adequate for the price. Lots of bath pick from on the menu. Located on Liberty square.

Pretty good food. Just have to watch your ticket when it comes back after they take your card they'll charge more than what your meal was.

It is very large, and she liked it. I ordered the half size quesadilla with chicken. Both dishes were served with shredded chicken. I'm not sure if grilled chicken was an option or possibly available at a higher price. But, the only thing I would recommend is more flavor/seasoning in the shredded chicken. Our table did not have silverware, but we just grabbed it off another table. And, the waiter brought extra napkins without us having to ask. Music was playing in the restaurant, but we were also seated near an employee on break who was blasting music and not using headphones. It was hard for us to enjoy our dining experience listening to two different songs at the same time for 15 minutes. But, this can easily be corrected by having employees use headphones or not play loud music during their break.

The decor is a total throwback to Nickelodeon's show Guts from the 90s. Even if it isn't intentional, I retro-loved it. The salsa is smoky and a little spicy and pairs perfectly with their thin crispy chips. I've been to MANY Mexican restaurants in my lifetime, and this is probably the best salsa of this style I've ever had. For my entree, I tried something I've never even heard of. Carne en su Jugo is steak with beans in tomatillo based soup. Honestly I was shocked. It was delicious, spicy, full of flavor and so simple but extremely well done. With this chilly weather, it warmed me up in the best of ways. I could only finish half of it and I am so excited to finish it for lunch tomorrow. Unfortunately, the tortillas are not made in house. I would love to see more restaurants doing this. Our waitress was attentive and kind, bringing beverages and checking on us with appropriate frequency. We will be back, and frequently!

The exterior is unique because it looks like a Mayan structure, and the interior is super fun/themed and feels clean. We really enjoyed their thin, crispy tortilla chips, as well as their salsa (safe for those who don't like onions or cilantro because it's all pretty homogenous and mild), hot salsa, and queso. The queso was plain, without any pico de gallo mixed in, which I liked because (again) I don't like onions or cilantro. The chicken chimichanga was good-- not too big (smaller than what you may find at other places), and the chicken was really flavorful. The side of lettuce was served in a taco salad-style cup, which was cool. To add a side of rice and beans was optional, which I haven't found elsewhere, but I liked that because I could save a couple dollars if needed. Overall, I'd definitely go back! Service was great too, and parking was ample!
