My favorite Mexican restaurant in the Gladstone area is El Maguey! It's our go to spot for delicious food and a great atmosphere. I've tried so many different dishes on their menu, and I've loved every single one. You can't go wrong with their chips and salsa they're amazing! If you're a fan of spicy food, be sure to ask for their spicy salsa. It has a great smoky kick to it! I recently ordered a skillet with chicken, steak, shrimp, onions, peppers, and a generous amount of cheese. I also added chorizo and jalapeños to it, which took the flavor to a whole new level. It was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend it! The service is always excellent, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I can't recommend El Maguey enough!

Got seated right away. Place was pretty warm inside with it being hot outside. It did take a little while to get service at table. Food was pretty good. Had many options to choose from even French fries for my kids. Overall would probably visit another time.

Yum! Great food! Quick service. We are here for the first time and will be back. I'd say it's more authentic Mexican than Tex mex. We enjoyed the chips and salsa and our entrees!

Our group went for dinner and the food was great. We had chips and salsa and ordered 2 chicken tostadas and a guacamole salad and it was way to much food for me to eat. Food was fresh and hot with big portions and I tried my hand on a bloody Maria and it had just enough spice. We will definitely come back.

El Maguey is one of the first places I tried when I moved into the Northland from being on the Kansas side of the city. As soon as I tried their hot salsa, I knew only good things would come out of that meal. Their micheladas are one of the best in town, the are MASSIVE and they have my favorite beer to mix in (modelo negra). The hot salsa is smokey and flavorful, and their cheese dip has different sizes, but I promise you don't need a large unless you're feeding a large family! The medium size is literally a cereal bowl, and it's at like $7-8 which is a steal. Every dish I've ordered from here is delicious, but a couple of my favorites would definitely be the Chilidrinas with Carne asada and al pastor, and then their Enchiladas Suizas. Sometimes the service can be slow, but they are constantly packed during dinner hours so cut them some slack! No matter how the service is the food always makes it worth the wait - it's one of our regular spots in North KC for Mexican.

Hidden gem in the Northland. Not sure how I missed this place all these years. Salsa has a good flavor and a little kick. We ordered pico de gallo which was tasty. I had a strawberry daiquiri. They offered to sugar the rim but I declined. It was a nice bowl shaped stem and delicious cocktail. Dinner was the steak tips Chimmi. It was a pretty plate presentation. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

food is amazing! everything comes out fresh and out, the chips and salsa are my favorite mexican restaurant chips and salsa. The service is great and the staff are quick to serve you and are very kind. the building may look like a hole in the wall from the outside but the inside is clean and welcoming.

Fantastic dinner!…read more Amazing food! I had Mole Enchilada with rice, and ordered seasonal vegetables as side. Our table also had table side guacamole and salsa and chips. That mole was amazing! I'll be back - the mole and guac makes my mouth water thinking about it. The Mole Enchilada with chicken was so delicious - deep flavor with juicy shredded chicken. The seasonal vegetables included broccolini, carrots, and asparagus - slightly crunchy, just the way I liked them cooked! I also had a La Chimosa cocktail - c a m a r e n a tequila blanco, l i m e, a g a v e, g r a p e f r u i t soda, passion fruit - pretty good. I enjoyed the ambiance - lots of beautiful art on the walls, subtle lighting, green plants, tasteful decorations, table lines, and relaxed atmosphere. We were there on a Monday night - it wasn't busy. It was a great place to go for our business group of five. Servers were friendly, especially the woman at the front as you entered. We had a nice chat while I waited for the rest of our table to arrive. They validated parking in the garage next door - so keep that in mind if street parking is unavailable. Pricing was what I would expect for this nice location. It was $$ to $$$ depending on what you ordered. I would definitely go back and recommend!

I just took a swing at it, picked up a menu, and stood there. It took a while for somebody to acknowledge that I was there. The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. If you've never been, you should come and see what your opinion is, but really cool aesthetics and great views.

Food: The food was good and had flavor, the presentation and portions were not bad. The starters were small so be sure to order multiples for larger groups. The fresh oysters were really good, the paella was really good and large in portion size great table shareable or as a entree. The cheese board had a really good variety of cheeses and crackers with some fruit. That was a nice little gem on the menu. They do serve alcohol but could be a little more consistency on the pours. Two of the same drinks tasted completely different and they do have a wine section. Service: The staff was nice and quickly provided seating for our large group of 10 people. Our waiter was great! He took orders checked on us and provided some really good feedback on menu items when asked. Thank you, Atmosphere: I love the decor! It was rustic with hand pai ted murals and gave a artistic vibe to our experience. However, I was not a fan of the metal tables, it felt to industrial and the tables were off balance as well. The size of the table were also interacting as they seemed really skinny and most likely ment for smaller groups like 2 people. The ceiling at La Bodega was the best part of the decor. It was such a great twist on smearing colors together. Price: Coming from Los Anegeles I thought the prices were right on targetand fit with the portion sizes. Location: It's located in Kansas City Mousori. Parking: We ubered to the restaurant but parking did look to be tight on the street side not sure if they have another lot in the back.
