Went with a friend for happy hour and definitely exceeded my expectations. The sangria was top notch and the deviled eggs were very good! Service was good, and the waiter was very attentive and gave good recommendations. Ambiance was solid, with even better outdoor seating for the nice weather. Highly recommend for a happy hour with good folk.
Popped in for the first time during happy hour! Their happy hour menu had lots of tapas and drink options, that were all very reasonably priced! We got large portions even on the happy hour menu! We started with a pitcher of the white sangria, it was very light and refreshing. And the pitcher was HUGE! Then I had the elotes, which was a very large portion, it had the perfect amount of spice and citrus zing and the cheese on it was very melty and yummy! I also had the Alubias Blanco, the pita with it was perfect grilled and had many slices, the hummus its self was very flavorful was a heaping portion! They have olive oil on the table so I dipped some of my pita in it and WOW it was good! Lastly I had the Pintox de Higo which was truly the star of the show. The goat cheese on it was perfectly creamy, the balsamic gave a beautiful sweetness and the bread its self wasn't too soft or too crunchy! The service was a little slow but over all we loved it and will definitely be back! It's also super cute inside, pretty small but not too loud! Beautiful artwork to look at as well! Parking was the biggest downfall but I was able to park about a block away and walk! They also have a beautiful patio out front as well!
La bodega experience was great today. Thanks to La bodega for the special curated lunch menu for the KC restaurant week. We get to try different dishes in the Tapas sampler (second course) today. Wall paintings, bar area, vibes gave us a proper Spanish experience. We started with House-made soup of the day (Black Bean soup) which was little tangy and actually good. Our second course was a tapas sampler which includes, 1. Pincho de pollo con chorizo - Looked like barbecued chicken & chorizo served in skewer sticks served with a garlic cumin aioli 2. Tortilla espanola - Looked like a potato & onion filled egg torta served with a roasted red pepper aioli 3. Datiles con jamon y chorizo - chorizo wrapped in a pancetta dipped in a fig coulis 4. Bolas de arroz - rice ball 5. Higos y queso de cabra - Goatcheese, roasted pepper, fig coulis in a roasted baguette 6. Brotxeta - pancetta wrapped shrimp My favorite one was #5, #3 & #1. Loved every bit of these 3. Staff suggested to try Almond cake & cheesecake. We loved the almond cake & cheesecake was okay.
Some friends of ours who have lived in KC for a long time recommended La Bodega as one of their favorite places. I had a friend visiting from Washington DC and my wife and I wanted to take her someplace cool and close to the Westin where she was staying. La Bodega fit the bill. The food was good and the service was good. We had a variety of dishes. I enjoy the tapas experience. We ordered the first one, which was a special and it came out quickly and it was delicious. Then I ordered a few more things. And was a little bit surprised when they brought them all within two minutes of each other. So we had four different plates to try all at the same time and they were just getting colder as we worked our way through the dishes. The kitchen/server timing could've been better. That was disappointing. Great sangria, a nice atmosphere and a lovely restaurant.
I can FINALLY cross La Bodega off my "need to try" list, and was it worth the wait! The restaurant itself has this kinda creepy under the bridge parking, that's roaring with cars up above, but once you get out from under there and into the restaurant, you're welcomed by kind greeters and even nicer waitresses. We were sat by a window for 2 and there was plenty of seating available with decent space in between. Beautiful Spanish paintings and photos around the place. Le bf ordered the albondigas, I think, which were meatballs in a cream sauce. I ordered 2 tapas, which were the montaditos del carne de cerdo and escalivada. I wish I was able to try a couple more, but that means the more reason to come back. OH! I also had their potato and leek soup, which was some of the heartiest and delicious starting soups I've ever had. The escalivada is a cold tapas and very refreshing with some pita bread. I liked the cold yogurt with grilled veggies. The pulled pork was a bit salty for my palate, might pass on that next time but worth the try. The cream sauce of the albondigas was DELISH and they came with mini crostinis! Le bf enjoyed the meatballs!
I had so much fun getting to try so many different dishes at my new favorite tapas place. Walking in I was delighted by the murals on the wall. They were gorgeous and set such a fun ambiance. I came for happy hour and left so satisfied. I got try the sangria pitcher and split it between two friends. It was sweet and delicious. I tried so many tapas but my favorite was definitely the elote and the skewered chicken. To end it off on a sweet note I got the Tarta De Chocolate. My only wish is that there were more strawberries. I had a great experience and will be back again soon!
Absolutely check this place out for happy hour! They have a Monday through Friday happy hour 2-5pm and man was is a DEAL. $8 tapas plates that are normally around $18. They also have their famous sangria half off for happy hour. We got to try so many different dishes that we wouldn't have been able to if it was at full price. My absolute favorite thing was probably the beef and pork meatballs in a white cream sauce. The bread with the goat cheese, roasted pepper, and fig balsamic was also delicious. There was tons of parking two under the bridge so it was an easy spot to park and walk to the door. I will definitely be bringing some friends back for the happy hour special here soon.
Checked out La Bodega's brunch menu this weekend. I really enjoyed the options! Started with Spanish Coffee, because you have to. It's a show and delicious. We picked a variety of items. Their French toast, a breakfast paella, a breakfast sandwich and steak and eggs to name a few. Most everything had great flavor. Ended with some sangria, because you have to. It's a great spot to get those Spanish flavors and try something new. The patio will be great this summer. Staff were so nice!
Went to La Bodega with my book club and we were seated in a little private area which was very nice for us to chat. Service was okay but there were a lot of us and we ordered A LOT of tapas. The food was very good. We had Elotes, seasonal items, papas fritas con ajo, patatas bravas, and more. We all loved the food and left nothing on any plate. Delicious and I would go again and think it's better for bigger groups so you can try more and split the cost more.
We really like it here. I feel like the food isn't super consistent between visits, however it is consistently good. Prices have also gone up over the years. Love sitting outside with all of the vehicles driving by. Lots to look at with a pretty good vibe. Service is always great. We have never had any complaints about that throughout all of our visits. Excellent date spot being tapas. You have to discuss likes and dislikes and share everything. I'm not married but we actually had our first date here.
We came here for a date night, yep 11 yrs of marriage and we still go on dates. La Bodega is a smallish place with some outdoor seating. The ousting area is really nice and has couches chairs and gates along with a fire out or two. Inside the decor is very spanish inspired as a Spanish tapas restaurant should be. We started with a bottle of wine and a meat and cheese board. You need to order the spanish blue cheese! Don't like blue cheese? Order it anyway. Then behan the tapas... we had 5 between us. And yes we shared. I ordered the deviled eggs with tuna and the meatballs. He ordered the pulled pork, the olive mix, and sausage medley. It is somewhat loud inside so conversing can be a challenge at times. Outside you would just have random traffic sounds. We welkom be going back to try the Paella and more tapas. Danella was our server and she was great and helped us make good choices.
Checked out La Bodega for restaurant week...I was expecting the lunch menu (Saturday at 12:30) but they were only serving brunch. We were super excited to try the paella which was on the restaurant week lunch menu. I asked the manager if we could order off menu and he asked the kitchen for us. The kitchen made us a two lunch sized paellas...I am so glad I asked because it was fantastic!!! We also ordered the brunch tapas sampler. It had a variety of breakfast items like an egg bake and more hearty things like bacon wrapped shrimp. It was busy and the atmosphere was great.
First time here and it was a good experience. I'm from Los Angeles so I love Latin cuisines and this spot did a great job on all levels. Food: The food was good and had flavor, the presentation and portions were not bad. The starters were small so be sure to order multiples for larger groups. The fresh oysters were really good, the paella was really good and large in portion size great table shareable or as a entree. The cheese board had a really good variety of cheeses and crackers with some fruit. That was a nice little gem on the menu. They do serve alcohol but could be a little more consistency on the pours. Two of the same drinks tasted completely different and they do have a wine section. Service: The staff was nice and quickly provided seating for our large group of 10 people. Our waiter was great! He took orders checked on us and provided some really good feedback on menu items when asked. Thank you, Atmosphere: I love the decor! It was rustic with hand pai ted murals and gave a artistic vibe to our experience. However, I was not a fan of the metal tables, it felt to industrial and the tables were off balance as well. The size of the table were also interacting as they seemed really skinny and most likely ment for smaller groups like 2 people. The ceiling at La Bodega was the best part of the decor. It was such a great twist on smearing colors together. Price: Coming from Los Anegeles I thought the prices were right on targetand fit with the portion sizes. Location: It's located in Kansas City Mousori. Parking: We ubered to the restaurant but parking did look to be tight on the street side not sure if they have another lot in the back. read more
I went to la bodega a handful of times several years ago and it was always good-- but I felt it could have been better. WELL I went back recently and every dish was elevated, delicious and the service was great. Way better than it had been in the past. I recommend the sangria with champagne on top, deviled eggs and sausage platter. Happy hour is incredible with sangria pitchers being 50% off!! read more
We've been to La Bodega before but had never tried the Spanish Coffee, so this time we went specifically for that. Spoiler: it did not disappoint. The prep is a whole experience. Coffee liqueur, rum, Roasterie coffee, flamed cinnamon, sugar rim, whipped cream. Sitting at the bar means you get a front-row seat every single time one is made. We were mesmerized watching it come together over and over again. The Patatas Bravas also made an appearance. We were so excited we forgot to take a picture, which honestly tells you everything you need to know. It gets busy, so reservations are encouraged. But the staff kept up, everyone was attentive, and we felt well taken care of the whole time. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating lets you take in the city in the best way. Is it worth a trip from the Northland just for this? For tapas and a real "out for happy hour in the city" kind of night, sí. That Spanish Coffee has us coming back. So, yes! Claro que sí. read more

Went here for restaurant week. I believe it was $50 for the three courses. Portions are small imo for tapas and very expensive. Service was good and ambiance was a little chaotic. Food is very good though. read more

Happy hour drop-in. There's a nearby parking lot. The restaurant has a patio, but we dined inside. The interior fit expectations. I tried the house sangria: one with champagne and the other was regular. I preferred the latter. My friend had beers. We ordered pimientos rellenos de pollo, papas fritas con ajo, albondigas caseras and pincho de pollo y chorizo. All were good, but the latter was the favorite. Service was friendly and timely. read more

Must try!! We ordered several tapas to share for the table and they were all delicious and fresh but my favorite was the croquetas de jamón & albóndigas caseras. The paella valenciana was steaming fresh and wonderfully seasoned. Was recommended a pomegranate cocktail which was also delicious. I have absolutely no complaints and the service was phenomenal (constant drink refills, accommodating our requests etc) , can't wait to come back. read more

Okay, this was a delightful dining experience. Our server was both pleasant and informative, making recommendations and explaining choices. The food is interesting and delicious. The decor inspiring, although the acoustics made the place as noisy as a sports bar. This is definitely a place to return to as was not able to try everything that looked good. La Bodega was a great all around experience. The ambiance is upbeat and happy with lots of windows. The service was pretty good. The hostess was very friendly. But the best part is definitely the food. This was the best restaurant food I've had in a long time. The menu was unique, but the food was upscale comfort at its finest. We had the Jamon and Manchego grilled cheese. The cheese sauce on the sandwich was silky smooth and decadent, The over easy egg on top was perfectly cooked. We also had the goat cheese in tomato sauce. The goat cheese was soft and tangy, and perfectly complemented the fresh-tasting tomato sauce. I wish there was a La Bodega in my hometown. *****would recommend! read more

A totally unexpected gem. The Rose Gin & Tonic was amazing. I ended up getting 3. Then every dish was perfect. I wasn't sure about the calamari since I normally like mine fried but this somehow was the best I've ever had. It's truly hard to decide what dish was my favorite. This will be my new regular spot. read more
Tapas! Tapas! Spanish style dining 1. Gambia's Al Ajillo: garlic shrimps in an olive oil sauce served with mini baguettes 2. Papayas Bravas: potatoes sauced in tomato sauce flavored with garlic, sugar, vinegar and other delicious spices, not very spicy which was fine! These were really flavorful. Came out initially very lukewarm so they had to be remade or warmed up. 3. Esperrogos Y Salmon Ahumsfo - cold dish where salmon wrapped around asparagus with eggs and grape tomatoes garnishing the dish... Beverage of choice: Spanish Negroni, powerful Spanish gin, vermouth and Italian spirtz... completely fresh, smoky flavor... very nice served with our meal! read more
I can't stop thinking about the food and vibes at La Bodega. I drive by here often and had been wanting to sit on their outdoor patio. It finally happened. The patio vibes were immaculate. Our server was so welcoming and helpful in navigating the menu. We went with most of his recommendations and were not disappointed. Be prepared to EAT. Drinks were delicious as well. Definitely check La Bodega out during a night out. Street parking. read more

I have been going here for a while now. And I keep coming back because the food is so delicious and the service is always satisfying. I would highly recommend coming here with a group of friends because of the small plates and tapas that is served. This restaurant also has one of the best patios it is so comfy and spacious so in the summer sitting outside is definitely a must. read more

This was not the first time that we were visiting this place. We've been here at multiple locations with different group of people, but I strongly recommend that you come with more than four people to get a taste of a lot of items from the menu. Couple of things that caught my attention was that the plate size was bigger than the traditional Tapas style. There are two different types of potato that you could find there one with a creamy, tomato base and garlic aïoli base. Both of them were outstanding. Make sure you try their chicken skewers with chorizo. They're super good. Their sangria was magical and make sure you get your hands on the paellas. They are super good. They lost a star just because the paella was little dry and was salty.. OK We made a reservation before so we made sure we arrived there 10 minutes before and find the right table. The parking was below the bridge which was reserved for the restaurant, and the people inside were super friendly. We were always being checked on and they gave us multiple small plates to keep the pallet clean . This place offers a really good ambience, a Spanish style interiors one of the best times you can enjoy this place during the summers because you have an outdoor seating and they have a really cool vibe out there too . read more
What a cool eclectic place! I drive by it often and don't notice it due to the location and small building. But I was super impressed with the ambiance, menu, service and food! This is a small plates tapas restaurant. There were 5 of us and we all ordered 2 plates and shared. We started with a meat and cheese board that was delicious. And enjoyed the 2 potato options as well as the screens of chicken and sausage, and my favorite was the pulled pork and olive tapenade on toast. Can't wait to go back! read more

We only got to one restaurant for KC restaurant week this year but we picked a good one. We opted for brunch and started with a sangria. Starters were the soup of the day and patatas bravas. The soup of the day was tomato basil. It was good but The patatas bravas were really good in the tomato sauce with jalapeños and sour cream. I'd definitely get those again. For entrees we opted for the Tapas sampler and the salmone con arroz. The salmon con arroz consisted of Seared salmon, saffron rice, sauteed spinach, roasted tomato, avocado, and salsa verde. It was very light and fresh with perfectly cooked salmon. The tapas sampler had a lot of little bites: pinchi de pollo con chorizo-Skewered chicken and chorizo, garlic-cumin aioli; tortilla espanola-Potato and onion filled egg torta, red pepper aioli; manchego frito-Fried, breaded Manchego cheese, quince preserves; higos y queso de cabra-Goat cheese, roasted peppers, fig coulis, grilled baguette; and datiles con jamon y chorizo-Chorizo stuffed date wrapped in pancetta. I definitely want to go back to try the Cuban. And more sangria! read more

I used to live in the Crossroads Westside apartment. We always talked about walking over to try the food because of all the positive reviews. And they have the cutest patio. But sadly, we never made it over. When we saw this on Kansas City Restaurant Week 2024. We had no excuse but to take advantage of their $20 menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Liam really took care of is. He was attentive and personal. We ordered patatas bravas, and it was so good. Potatoes were cooked perfectly and crisp. I am not sure what the sauce is. But it complimented the potato really well. For 2 course, I got the tapas sampler. The sampler was a good option for first time diner because you got to try a few item of the tapas. The bruschetta was definitely my favorite of the 5 items. I was too full from the patatas bravas to finish the sampler. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back. read more

Lots of seating, and this place is usually pretty busy. They have both outdoor and indoor seating, with variety of tables. The interior is a bit more dim lit which provides a cozier ambiance. Our server was very helpful in providing recommendations and explaining the menu, along with popular dishes and drinks. Decided to go with the seared scallops - these were great. The scallops were well seared, and the base was creamy, smooth, well flavored and paired well with the scallop. Only wish there were more! The paella left more to be desired - it was somewhat dry, and the single lemon did little to improve it. Chicken in the paella tasted also dry and somewhat bland, and the shellfish were also a bit lacking in flavor and tasted somewhat old. Overall, presentation of the food was nice, but some dishes seem definitely better than others. The food was somewhat pricey for the quality of the food in my opinion. The restaurant gives off elevated vibes and prices their dishes similarly, but I was expecting more. I'd considered returning to try out some of their other dishes, but overall an average experience. read more
