We went to this restaurant several years ago when it was in Olathe. We remembered liking it but it didn't have a liquor license. Now it's in Western Shawnee and we decided to try it tonight. We got in on a Friday night. Had a great and friendly waitress. She told us the portions were huge so we split a pasta dish called Napoli's Special that had chicken, pepperoni, sausage, onions, artichokes. I asked to substitute the normal afredo marinara sauce with a spicy diavolo sauce and hold the black olives. They were very accommodating unlike many other restaurants that refuse to make substitutions. It was delicious and more than enough for the two of us. The sauce was great and flavorful with a little kick. It came with a complimentary side basket of warm garlic knot bread. Food and service were great. A little pricey but not if you split it. $32 fed both of us. We will be back! read more

I've always loved this ristorante from their early days in Olathe. Now, Shawnee is the lucky city. The service is every bit as good as Olathe, and that's a big thing with me. Second, the ambiance is great for a shopping center location, it's evident that this is a real Italian place and not some cheap fake version of one. Last, but not least, the food is still every bit as good as it ever was and the fact is that it's even better. Maybe it's because I've been missing my fix for a while. A friend and I went in a few days ago and I was shocked that the prices hadn't changed on the lunch menu. Their lunch specials are about the same price as McDonalds only the food is on a plane way above and the portions are so large a fat boy can't even finish it. I had a to go box that lasted me 2 more meals. And to top it off, our waitress Sami was quick and attentive. I saw an ad for this Italian restaurant and I saw on the ad "ask about our gluten free menu". So we decided to try it out this evening for dinner. The restaurant is dimly lit and they put tablecloths on and light some candles in the evening for the dinner patrons. But the big screen TV facing all the seating is detracting from the ambiance. Our server could have been a more welcoming and attentive. There was a nice female server that was putting the cloths on the tables that was friendly and welcoming. My husband ordered the shrimp and scallop Alfredo which he said was good and they were generous with the seafood. The menu has a lot of gluten-free options, but when I asked about the chicken Alfredo, which said gluten-free next to it, I asked about the sauce which typically would not be gluten-free and he said it was not gluten-free. I told him that they should not have that listed as gluten-free because that is misleading. The noodles can be substituted for gluten-free, but the sauce is definitely not gluten-free. I asked about some other chicken dishes and whether the sauces had gluten and he said they did not. So I tried the chicken marsala and they put gluten-free penne pasta in it. I thought it was OK and they were generous on the amount, but I wasn't that impressed by the flavor. They brought out regular bread for my husband and some gluten-free bread for me for the olive oil dipping. They did not bring out a separate dish for me on the olive oil though. We had a coupon for a free dessert if someone in the party purchased a $28 entrée which my husband did, and we ordered the gluten-free "cake" which is really a flourless torte it seemed like. It was chocolate, and it was good in general. The one slice of gluten-free cake would've been $13 which is a little high for the size. It was the only gluten-free option for a dessert, but I was glad they offered one. They have happy hour from 4 to 5 Monday through Friday. The restaurant is clean and the servings are good size, but I think they need to work on their ambience. read more

I sooo wanted to love this place but unfortunately the experience was very good marred by very bad. The good- the tortellini my wife got was amazing! The sauce, the texture and cooked just right. The bad- the heart of any good Italian restaurant is the quality of their meatballs, so of course I ordered the meatball appetizer. 20 minutes and two requests for status on the app is excessive but when it finally arrived it was FROZEN SOLID. Not an exaggeration. My knife could not even cut through either of them. Our 18 year old server (he told us his age twice) took it back but no mention of any recompense other than taking it off our bill. The place has an army of very young staff so we were prepared to be patient but there should be a manager that understands the restaurant business in charge. My wife and I decided we liked the tortellini so much that we are willing to order carry out or Door Dash, but trying to endure the service issues is not worth the risk I really do wish this place luck as we need spots like this in west Shawnee, so hopefully this type of constructive feedback helps them adapt and become successful read more

Went into Toni's during the Sunday before Christmas and they were busy! However, Phoebe was able to get us sat quickly in a booth that we requested. Ontop of her running front of house, we saw her helping to bus tables as well and keeping everyone happy. Once we were sat our server Zach, was extremely attentive and provided some excellent recommendations as well as got us some delicious starting bread despite it being incredibly busy. Once the food came out, it was delicious! One of the better Italian dinners I've had and it was large portions which allowed me to have to for dinner twice haha! Had a Sunday night craving for Italian food. This family owned restaurant was excellent. Fresh baked rolls with olive oil dip and chopped olives. Ordered the Chicken Fettucine, it had a nice buttery cream sauce with just the right amount of finely chopped olive. I ordered a side plate of Italian sausages that came in an oil based sauce. So good. Then to top it off the owner came out and greeted us, and socialized for a bit. He was impressed I spoke his countries language, as I speak over 40 languages. read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did because we need some good Italian food in western Shawnee! I will say, when we went, there was no lit sign on the building and it looked dark from outside so we had to get out of the car to make sure they were open. Hopefully that's been fixed since we were last there. Pros: our server was nice and attentive, wine prices were good, inside appeared clean and put together. The complimentary bread and dipping sauce was a nice touch. Big portions on the entrees. Cons: the food was not good at all. Tasted like it came out of the microwave. My partner and I had the trio and the chicken was so hard both of us could barely cut through it with a knife. We tasted it and it was very chewy and managed to gag a couple pieces down because we were hungry. The lasagna had not enough meat in it. Mostly cheese and sauce and we kept pulling onions out of it. The Alfredo didn't taste authentic to us- reminded me of the jar stuff you buy at the store. We ended up seated next to the service station so we overheard all of the staffs discussions and banter all night which when I come to a restaurant, that's not really the atmosphere i want to hear when I'm out on a date night spending money at a nice restaurant. We ended up leaving a nice tip since they are new, server was attentive, and maybe just need to perfect on the "cons" issues to become successful going forward, but we won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

We love this place. A great addition to Shawnee. It is our go to now. The atmosphere is great, dark, and they play music, which makes it seem Italian, and the servers are helpful, attentive, and kind when they deliver the delicious food. We've tried several things. Really nice to have a good Italian place here in Western Shawnee. Started off with fried ravioli, amazing. Cesar salads were good, nothing to write home about. We split the sampler platter of lasagna, chicken parmesan and fettuccine Alfredo. All three were really good. I thought the lasagna was the best, will definitely get again. The chicken parm was really good and Alfredo was a bit rich for me. The staff were very polite but seemed a bit inexperienced. Will absolutely be coming back here! read more

The food is amazing. My husband ordered the lasagna and I had the chicken piccata. We both left with take home boxes because the portions are very generous. The warm garlic bread served with the dipping oil is so delicious. I wanted to try the tiramisu but was too full; will have to save that for next time. The service was very attentive and the ambiance was nice and cozy. It was really nice when I heard the staff speaking Italian. Just opened a few weeks ago so they're still ironing out some wrinkles but the food is terrific and the staff works hard to accommodate each customer. Definitely recommend the Italian sausage appetizer and if you request it, you can get any dish with Mario's homemade vodka sauce. Yummy! read more

What a great spot in west Shawnee! The outside patio is lovely - shady covered space, flowers and great vibe. Inside they have done a real transformation of a basic strip mall into a charming italian restaurant. We were skeptical, as this spot has had a few loser restaurants but these people seem to have gotten it right. We had lunch and definitely will return for dinner soon. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and huge portions plus bread on the table. I had the chicken Caesar and the chicken was very well prepared. My husband had taasty spaghetti and meatballs. He's a big eater, but plenty to take home for dinner. The real test will be chicken parm and based on the lightly breaded chicken that was on my Caesars salad I have high hopes. I am so sad!!!! Since Toni has moved to Shawnee, I feel that everything has gone down hill from the service to the food. We went there again last night (hoping for something different since the first time was also a disaster) but no.... The server was not very attentive and didn't seem like she cared if we were there or not. The food was ehhhh.i told the waitress I had a gluten allergy and she brought me the gluten free bread but forgot the separate oil for dipping, we asked 3 times. The spinach artichoke dip was thrown together barely chopped up and soooo runny you could eat it with a spoon had to ask our waitress to bring bread or something to dip into it because it didn't come with any. The main course was ehh ok but nothing to write home about. This was my favorite restaurant when it was in Olathe. The servers were great, the food was good. It's almost like they gave up. A good thing this time was that we did not see the cook doing shots with the wait staff like he did the last time we were there. read more

Our food, was not great :( Both of our dishes had chicken breast, and it was so overcooked, we just couldn't eat it. The Alfredo pasta flavor was ok, but omg, so much oil/ butter! Heard there was a new Italian restaurant in town so I had to try it. It was on a Thursday night and the place was full. I was seated right away with no wait. Wait staff was very polite, friendly, and helpful. They have a good wine selection and a good menu. I ordered the "chef's choice", basically chicken and shrimp with tortellini in an alfredo sauce and a glass of wine. The entree was good but they left the tails on the shrimp, I had to fish the shrimp out of the alfredo sauce and pull the tail off before I could eat it and some of the chicken was very tough and chewy and whole thing was on the salty side. I think I'll go back and try the lasagna in a couple weeks. read more

I was very excited to try this new Italian place in Shawnee. The restaurant has a good vibe and atmosphere. At first. The more you sit there you realize that this seems like an attempt to feel fancier than it was. We were greeted by presumably the owner or manager as the hostess who seated us. Our server was a kind person. He appeared to be the only one taking orders for 6-7 tables which appeared to be over half of the dinning area. The rest of the staff walked aimlessly around the restaurant. The presumed hostess continued to walk around the dining area practicing his pitching of a baseball. A very weird behavior for a place attempting to be an upscale Italian restaurant. The rest of the staff hand washed glasses behind the bar area staring at the patrons of the establishment. We were served complimentary bread and oil to start our meal. This tasted good, however, it was different from the traditional you would be served at a Italian restaurant. It was more of a roll type with parmesan sprinkled on top. I ordered the lasagna 15$ and my girlfriend ordered the Shrimp Alfredo 23$. With a meatball appetizer 10$. The appetizer meatball dish tasted like a Fazollis bigger version of a meatball. Not terrible but definitely not what I was expecting. Our entrees came out after a bit and something was immeasurably off about the experience. The Shrimp Alfredo tasted like it was microwaved in a plastic bag. You could taste the plastic in the sauce partially. We attempted to stomach it down but it was unable to be done without constantly thinking about the follow on health affects. The Lasagna came out and was not presentable at all for a plate-able appearance. The first bite tasted like a below average Lasagna but edible. On multiple other bites, the celery large chunks, textures, and same plastic burnt in taste prominently prevailed from Chief Microwave. We were wanting to go to this restaurant for their well reviewed tiramisu. The entrees were so dreadfully bad that we did not even give it a try. The staff could obviously tell something was wrong with how we liked the food. The waiter came by to ask if we wanted boxes with the check and it was a swift no. He asked if everything was okay and while I typically would just say it was great, I felt obligated to my community to say something so we could have a good Italian restaurant. I said it was not good and left it at that. The waiter was understanding and apologized for the food and brought us the check. While waiting for it, the owner or manager came over and asked if the food was good. I told him not really and raised the concern about the plastic tastes in both dishes. He got defensive and stated that the lasagna was the best in the state of Kansas. I didn't feel like picking a fight with a delusional man so I told him, " I'm sure it is". He asked if we wanted anything else to replace the dishes we had received and we said we had lost our appetite. He started to pull out his phone saying that he Would show us that the lasagna was the best in the state of Kansas. I told him it was not necessary and that it wasn't for me. He left in an upset manner. We paid our bill and got the hell out of there. This business is I KID YOU NOT AN EPISODE OF KITCHEN NIGHTMARE.
