I usually order tacos al pastor but decided to be adventurous and get burrito al pastor! Haha. The burrito is covered in other goodies but it is there and the flavor is wonderful. Huge portion. Went there tonight and host was Grace Isabella. Grace ignored everything asked for, it was a slow afternoon so there was no excuse. She was rude the food wasn't great either. The food went down hill. Won't be back. Complained to the front of the house and they didn't care either. If I could give lower than a 1 star I would. Back in the early years of the new millennium, Senor Tequila's was my go to for Tex Mex. Then I found out about the taquerias in KCK and then Mi Ranchito opened up down the street and Senor Tequilas became a forgotten friend. My wife and I had a few New Years Eve dinners there many years ago and decided to re-live the tradition this year, although minus the awesome margarita's that I recall with great enthusiasm. Shrimp nachos and a couple (maybe 3) margaritas were always my go to selections, but this visit I had the Enchiladas Acapulco and iced tea. Three enchiladas stuffed with shrimp and crab with cheese and red sauce and a little guacamole on the side made a great little meal and rekindled a relationship with my forgotten friends at Senor Tequilas. Chips and salsa are average at best, but free. The building has undergone a major remodeling inside and out in the past few years and is clean and decorated in stereotypical fashion for a suburban Tex Mex joint. Never had an issue with service, in fact usually very good service. P.S. All is forgiven for the wingnut that I found in my nachos long ago. After all that's been 15+ years and the free margarita helped me turn the incident into a story that I get to use regularly when discussing restaurant horror stories with others. Best Mexican restaurant in the greater Kansas City area. I have tried many and none come close to Senor Tequila. The food is always fresh, consistent, and delicious. Some of our favorites include the Pico Senor Tequila, Quesadilla Jalisco, and Burrito Loco. The chips and salsa are always delicious and flavorful. Not always a fan of the rice and beans at other restaurants, but it is SO good at Senor Tequila. The service is always wonderful and welcoming. The burrito fajita was good, and exactly what you would expect if you've had a burrito fajita before. We waited for over 25 mins for water and chips, once we placed out order at least 2 times the teenagers working dropped plates and cups with water on the floor right next to other booths with customers sitting down. The heavy set lady that was wiping down the table as customers were leaving was throwing all the crumbs from the table onto the floor with her damp rag, never did she come back with a broom to pick it up they just seated another family. The places is ran by a bunch of teenagers the teenage girl that was the cashier had her baby sitting behind the register and wasn't even paying attention while cashing us out. This area of North Oak has so many Mexican restaurants. If you decide to pay Senor Tequila a visit, you won't need to visit the others. This is wonderful! My wife's unabashed love for Mexican food led us to try Senor Tequila and we were not disappointed. This is probably our new favorite place in town! On our first visit here, we decided to order our usual meals, simply to compare it to the other restaurants we have visited. We started with the cheese dip. Excellent flavor and a hint of spice, but not too much. My wife loved the salsa. I even tried it. I liked it and I don't eat salsa. This was a great start to the night. The entrees didn't come out too quickly, giving us plenty opportunity to enjoy the chips, salsa, and cheese dip. I appreciated that. For the entrees, my wife got the chicken chimichanga. I got the vegetarian meal with a bean burrito, a cheese enchilada, and a cheese quesadilla. Top to bottom, it was excellent! My wife scored the rice highly on her list. She said the chicken in the chimi was well seasoned and not too much as some places she's been, there is too much chicken and it's hard to eat it all. Her pleasant surprise was the guacamole. The only way she could describe it was "Perfect." My meal was excellent as well. The red sauce on the burrito and enchilada was very good. The bean burrito was tasty. The quesadilla was buttery and almost dessert-like. Top marks of the night for me was the enchilada. Wow! I couldn't stop eating it. I wanted more. I still want more! The cheese was delicious and creamy. I will dream about how good that enchilada was. Next time, I want a plate full of those cheese enchiladas. Run, don't walk to Senor Tequila. Upon entering the scene I wasn't sure to wait or seat myself. A friendly waiter showed me my seat. As I snacked on the salsa (med heat) and chips I noticed this was unlike most Mexican restaurants. Attempting a "classier" ambience with taupe leather upholstered booths, and rustic tile and cement and tile borders, it is a far cry from the brightly painted carved seating you see at other places. Took yani to her favorite place Senior Tequilas...I'll start with the positive, Food was great as usual. Went for my granddaughter's birthday with our family told them it was her birthday normally they sing and give her a cake none of that was done. I ordered a margarita frozen margarita because the air conditioner did not work in the place and it was so so hot in there (temp outside was 100) no fans no overhead fans. It was so hot the ambulance came and had to take someone out. The margarita was disgustingly bitter I let everybody at the table try it everybody agreed it was horrible. I sent my margarita back when I got my bill they still charged me for it I took it up to them and told them I'd returned it it did not taste good I did not want it. A manager or somebody came over and said because I drank about an inch of it that he had to charge me for it we spent over $100 for this dinner. The only reason an inch was drink is because I let all the adults at the table give it a try and they all agreed it was nasty. This place has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for so many years, we have spent so much money at this place for years. I am just so so disappointed. Unfortunately we won't be going there again so I won't get to enjoy my favorite Mexican food all because of a $7 margarita that tasted like shit. Oh and the floor was so slippery I almost fell 3 times. I have never ever had a bad experience at the place until today. I've always loved coming there. For the most part, we liked this place. It is mostly clean (will get to), friendly servers and a bit above average tasting food. The chips and sauce? We're ok. Chips good, salsa/sauce was really thin, but did taste good and not deluded. The food came out quickly and was hot. I got a combo dish and the beef burrito and enchilada had the same exact meat inside of them. I guess this is standard. Meat was good but they were extremely basic. The only cleanliness issue was the dish cart right in front of the hallway to the bathroom. A lot of dirty dishes were just sitting out there and it wasn't a pleasant sight. Overall good, not great. It's so watery that it doesn't even stay on the chip. I got 2 beef tacos (hard) and the shells were cold. I was expecting them to be fried.. like every other good Mexican restaurant. Used to come here many times before they remodeled and it was always pretty good. Came back here recently and was surprised to see the remodeled version. It looks so nice now! The exterior, interior, and even the restroom look pretty nice as well! For lunch, my family and I ordered off of the lunch specials. Speedy Gonzalez #1 with the taco, enchilada, and rice and/or beans is what my family gets every time (overall favorite). I tried something different and picked out the Quesidillas Fajitas w/chicken. It also came with rice and a guacamole salad (guac + lettuce). There was sour cream and pico de gallo provided as well. I was extremely happy with my choice! The tortilla was lightly crisp and the chicken inside cooked well. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will most likely be ordering that same meal every time I come here now. Unlimited Chips & Salsa provided. I'd say they taste pretty average compared to other places. The chips weren't too thick. So, it was pretty good. The salsa seemed a little thinned out to me though. Service was great. We weren't in a rush and our server checked up on us several times for water and chips & salsa re-fills. Overall, this place is great. I give Senor Tequila 4 stars!! The food is very tasty, and SUPER cheap! Two can easily dine, with drinks for $30-$40. The menu is very extensive, offering any and everything Mexican you can think of. They have a kids menu as well. Although I don't drink tequila, my husband LOVES their margaritas! The only downside is the bathroom.. It's super tiny, and not very clean.. We always hit the grocery store out north. It is close to downtown and has a good selection. We are always looking for a quick place to grab lunch. On this day it was Panera or this shabby looking Mexican joint. The parking lot was pretty full and I was feeling lucky, so in we went. The inside was bright and cheerful. We grabbed a booth for 2. Service was quick and we had chips and a drink while we browsed our giant menu. Normally, I will go with enchiladas when trying a new Mexican place, but like I said, I was feeling lucky. I ordered the chicken chilaquiles. I never had that dish before. It was so yummy and flavorful! I asked for spicier salsa and they brought out a brownish concoction. It had an off flavor and wasn't really that spicy. My partner compared it to battery acid, but I didn't think it was that bad. Anyway, it was the only bad part of the meal. I traded secrets about teasing hair with the waitress on the way out. I applied my Phoenix Arizona rule "don't judge a book by its cover" to this place and it worked out. Went back for more ;-) The waiter (Mesero) was super helpful this time - I asked if there was any way I could possibly order a Chorizo hardshell taco, and he set me up with two of them - and some Pico de Gallo. :^) If you like authentic Mexican food (like, you gotta order the Jarritos to go with the food--authentic) - try out this restaurant. PROTIP: The hardshell Chorizo taco is -not- on the Menu as of this writing - but if you ask for it, they may hook you up.
