I had to drop my vehicle off down the street and ate here for lunch while waiting. I've eaten at…read morethis location before and have gotten mixed reviews. I ordered my food with chicken, add zucchini and no lettuce (I'm allergic to the lettuce). When I got my plate, lettuce was on it so I sent it back. Then when it came back, it was a steak burrito. Not a big fan that I had to send it back the first time but the second time was even irritating. I assume these mistakes happen because the servers assume they don't need to take down the order in the slightest amount, then they forget the details by the time they put the order into the kitchen. My issue with this is that the waitress didn't take blame for it and blamed it on her kitchen both times and never offered any money off the bill for the problems. Because of the waitress's lack of responsibility and that there was more than one error, I gave them three stars. I took another star off for the fact that the red enchilada sauce didn't taste good.

Hubby had the number 1 which was a ground beef burrito, cheese enchilada, beans and rice and a barbacoa crunchy taco. I had the chiquito sampler which had beef nachos, quesadillas, taquitos and flautas. it was all good. We also had the best house margarita we have had in a long time. It was actually a mixed drink, not just mixer with ice. We will definitely be back.

The inside of the restaurant is classic industrial, cozy, super casual, and has a fun upbeat vibe. Everyone serving in the restaurant at all different levels is very kind and friendly. When we sat down, we were brought the typical basket of tortilla chips, along with their homemade salsa... And an extra surprise was there Mini bowl of queso dip. It was creamy and yummy. The salsa wasn't as spicy as we prefer, but it was decent. Our sever took our drink rider which were margaritas. They have a very long list of all types of flavors of margaritas... Are you in the mood, this is a place to go! They also offer three different sizes in the margaritas, plus a ton of other drinks as they have a very large bar. It was a Saturday night, so It was pretty crowded, but there was not a wait for a table. Our waitress brought back our margaritas, but it took her over 35 minutes to get to our table to even take our dinner order. At least they brought us three baskets of chips to hold us over! After a little over a half hour, she came back to our table and asked us if we were still waiting for our food... We explained to her that she never actually took our dinner order to begin with. We ordered street tacos and jalepeno cream cheese ans chicken enchiladas... black beans and rice. Everything was tasty. We were starving at this point because it was almost an hour when our food arrived. She apologized for forgetting about us in between the tables served before us... It was worth it... however, we will order for take out next time. Waiting at our table and having 30 min between a margarita and a meal was too long for our liking.

Our server was very attentive and nice. They sang happy Birthday for my sister's birthday. The shrimp tacos dep Rio was good! Rice and beans were good too. I do want to mention that nothing in my shrimp tacos seemed seasoned. Like no pepper or anything. Shrimp was kinda bland and so were the veggies but still good. Absolutely loved the coconut margarita! Love that they put coconut around the rim too. Definitely will come back.

No flavor and a bit on the dry side. Also compared to most places I go for street tacos the amount of meat was a lot smaller. The tacos weren't nasty but just not memorable. I wish I had looked at more items as their menu is plentiful with tons of options. I think I could have found something cheaper that I would have enjoyed just as much. I had room for ice cream so I got a dip of horchata ice cream. It was really, really good. It was extremely creamy and delicious. I'm not sure what was in it besides cinnamon and vanilla, but it was great! They had flavors I've never seen before (piñon, queso, Gansito) so I can't wait to come back and try another new flavor.

I've seen some comments about the consommé not being salty enough... but let's be real: if you think that, you probably don't know what real Mexican food is supposed to taste like. The flavors here are spot on. I had the quesabirria tacos, and they are truly to die for--cheesy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The street tacos are also a solid choice if you want to try a few different things. But whatever you do, don't leave without dessert. There are so many amazing options, plus ice cream! I highly recommend the strawberries with Dubai chocolate--they are absolutely divine. I'm still dreaming about that rich pistachio and chocolate combo... seriously unforgettable. It's time for me to finally leave a review for El Maguey…read more I have been going to El Maguey for most of my life, at varying locations around Blue Springs and Independence. So many good memories of dining there with friends and family. Now, my husband and I live closest to this North Oak location, and it is our most visited and most reliable date night spot. We are literally NEVER disappointed. The food is always hot, delicious, and fresh. The margaritas are good. The service is friendly and fast. The vibes are just all around great. Having been going there for so many years and trying so many different dishes, I've landed on a favorite that I get every time, which is the quesadilla fajita (I get steak in mine.) My husband switches it up more often, but he always enjoys what he gets. There have been multiple nights where our previous dinner plans fell apart and we are starving and irritated, then we get to El Maguey and everything is immediately better. I love El Maguey so much, it is definitely my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Thank you El Maguey!!
