Los Tules accommodated a gathering for my extended family, a party of 18. It was bad luck for us that there was an event across the street at the Kauffman that night, because the restaurant was very busy to start. It was chill when the event crowd cleared. For such a big party, the service was good. We had one server the whole time and she did great taking the orders and getting food and drinks to the table. I don't think there were any wrong orders or mixups at all. That says a lot for a big group. The food was decent. The combinations were the best deal on the menu. I ordered the three taco combo, and didn't have any complaints. I ordered my toddler a quesadilla and it was loaded with cheese. I had to steal a bite.
My friend had her birthday party here on a weekday after work and it was surprisingly not too packed. We were able to snatch 5 seats with no problem. It was also happy hour and I was so grateful because usually HH ends at 6 but this one ended at 8. I love that about this place!! I got the mini chicken birria tacos for $9 which was a steal for Birria tacos! The tacos were delicious. A tad a bit small and I could have used more consommé but it's alright. Our server gave my friend a shot for her birthday which was really sweet! This place is solid in my book!
Omg the lady that served us must have been a mom super sweet and outgoing gave me some Mexican soup cuz I only ordered rice n cold out. Jalapeño margarita my boyfriend said it was spicy af. Chill spot for locals come here often. Close to downtown kc.
We stopped here before going to a show at Kauffman Performing Arts Center and I'm glad we did. The fish tacos were more than decent and the patio was a nice place to sit and enjoy the vibes. The staff was quite helpful and attentive, which allowed us to simply enjoy our time. I can absolutely see us visiting again.

Not so loud, and not as windy since they have a canopy/tent back there. Our server was great; busy for sure and she managed her customers well. Food was outstanding: I had 2 à la carte chicken enchiladas -- since I was going back to the Kauffman, I didn't want leftovers, but still probably should have order just one! S much delicious food. Chips and salsa were good; I tried the spicy & found it too hot for me. Sadly, I didn't have the opportunity to snap more pics of the establishment or menu. I'd definitely go back!

The inside is nothing special, but lots of tables without being cramped. The service was great and the food was quick. Everything we ate was delicious, I especially loved the chicken fajita burrito. The next time you pass by this restaurant, stop in!
I've always been curious about this place. I've driven by it ever since I moved here 16 years ago. I finally gave it a try, and I'm so glad I did! I used to feel intimidated about where to park. Street parking on Broadway is usually available after 6 PM or between 9 AM and 4 PM, but it's a bit limited. There is also a parking lot in the back, which seems to be for restaurant use only, just be sure to check the signs. The back patio is absolutely charming! There's this beautiful, lit-up tree that adds so much ambiance. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend dining outside alfresco. I ordered the carnitas, and wow they were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I went with double rice instead of beans because I was heading next door to watch a movie at Stray Cat Film Center and didn't want to risk any bean-related regrets (iykyk!). Overall, it's a super great spot. Very busy and lively on a Friday night, which just added to the fun atmosphere. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!
Family member introduced me to this place. Small local restaurant with a cozy feel to it. Chips and salsa to start, guacamole dip was good. I ordered the combo plate #1. Two burritos with rice and beans. I had one chicken and one beef. It was awesome! The chicken was soo juicy and tender, highly recommend. Our service was good and helpful. Keep up the good work, definitely will try again. Thank you.
I finally got the chance to try Los Tules on Broadway, and it did not disappoint! The food was yummy! I had a chimichanga, and my friend had enchiladas. We also shared an incredible dip with beans, cheese, red sauce, and chorizo. I can't remember the name, but it was very good! The drinks were just as impressive. I had a ruby red margarita, while my friend ordered a drink that we definitely should have split! I can't remember the name of the drink. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was good. I'd return!
This is the 5th Mexican restaurant I've been to in Kansas City and it's the first one i've actually liked. The margarita was delicious. The tostadas were great.The bean and rice were excellent. I thought the prices were very reasonable. The waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was very pleasant...until the football game came on and they cranked up the volume on the television, then it was time to go lol. But I'll definitely be back.
Average Tex Mex style restaurant, with standard fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, plate options. Food was okay, and pricing was fair for Tex Mex, although personally I would prefer the multitude of taco shops or Mexican restaurants we have in the area instead. They had plenty of seating with a few outdoor tables. Food came out relatively quick, and our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Salsas weren't that spicy. There were some vegetarian options available. It's an okay place to take a group, but I wouldn't return by myself.
Don't pass up on Los Tules! This spot is great for late night eats and hangouts if you're in the area. This place gets a bad for a whole slew of reasons. Some say it's not authentic enough or good enough or the service is slow--look, Los Tules is not a fancy place, you seat yourself, and it gets busy at times, but there will be a table available at 9:30pm and they'll serve you some hot, juicy, crispy carnitas in a matter of minutes. You'll even get a beautiful view of the Kaufmann Center on your way in. The service can be slow at times if the place is absolutely packed, but it usually isn't. Here are the gotchas: - The food is somewhere between more authentic than K-Macho's and less authentic than most of the places on Southwest Blvd - The entrees can get spendy between the price and the 12% sales tax rate. I don't know why it's 12% either, but that's what we're working with. The price and varying quality of the entrees is the primary reason why I went for 3 stars rather than 4. - I would recommend sticking to the a-la-carte menu and avoiding the rice and beans, which aren't as high quality as one would hope. Overall, Los Tules isn't my first pick for Mexican food, but it's a solid pick for late night bites with a few friends.

Stopped in the night of the second Mexico World Cup game. The energy was high, and everyone was in a great mood. Our server was informative on all the specials which was helpful in making our decisions. We decided to sit outside which had the most stunning view of the sunset. We ordered the dip trio and the mini birria tacos. Both hit the spot. The margaritas, frozen and rocks were also tasty. My whole group enjoyed the quality of them. I have been coming here for a few years and never left a review. If folks are in the crossroads, I highly recommend stopping here for some tasty food!! read more
I have visited this local spot several times in the past Hailey and I came for lunch a few days ago but I have to say the atmosphere/vibe is very welcoming with the bright murals and color services was fast , but our food was just ok. We both ordered off of the lunch menu burrito your choice of meat, tostada ,beans, and rice. We started out with chips and cheese dip which I could just make a meal out of that. Our food came out, looked very good, but Tostada was soggy and beans were dry. I noticed Hailey's tostada fell apart. Don't get me wrong. I love food, but I am not want to complain and send my food back so we ate our tostadas with chips. I thought it was just OK for Hailey it was a big no. so this is just my opinion, but you can give them a try. Overall, I had a decent experience. The table we were seated at was wobbly. The service was great but the drinks were mediocre. There was an after taste to the strawberry margaritas. The food was pretty good. I had the fajita plate and my fiance had the soft taco plate. The ambiance was decent enough but I felt like the meal was extremely overpriced for lunch. read more

Happy hour House Margs until 8pm was a nice surprise when we walked in for dinner. Plenty of space for large parties so we didn't have to wait for a table. The house Marg was a little sweet for my taste and the salsa flavors felt more Italian than Mexican to me, but that's just one girl's opinion. We did have to ask for menus (odd) but the spinach dip and the green chili pork were both tasty. I'd come back for the cheese dip! read more
As it was my first visit to Kansas City, I was surprised to see so many Mexican restaurants and was also excited to see so many Mexican restaurants. I was there for a conference, so we stopped here on our lunch break. It was your typical, hole in the wall Mexican place with brightly colored tables and classic Mexican fair. I had the Sangria (which was delightfully strong) and the cheese enchiladas. My only complaint is that their red sauce had been stewed with meat, which as a vegetarian, I was not expecting. To be fair, it wasn't listed as a vegetarian item, but this was the first time I've ever had meat in my enchilada sauce. Other than that, the food was good but not spicy, and the tortilla chips plentiful. If you're at the convention center for an event, this is a solid lunch spot. read more

Visited los Tules last night. I had something similar to a chimichanga. Lots of flavors. Tasted really good. My fiancé had chile stuffed with shrimps. He really liked it. They serve big portions. We could probably share one next time. However, my meal gave me terrible heartburn. The establishment is old. Needs some updates but is in a good location with parking in the back. They serve chips and salsa as soon you arrive. The salsa is not good. Doesn't taste like Mexican salsa. read more

Stopped in before a KC Symphony concert on a Friday night since it's right across the street. This place got pretty hoppin around 6 pm, with people waiting outside for around ~20 mins for a table. Seems like a good place to bring family and friends for some tasty Mexican food! Food was pretty tasty, nothing super special. I got carne asada tacos that came with rice and beans and a nice tomatillo salsa with some spice. Everything was reasonably priced. The house margarita is a radioactive color green, but both the margaritas and the sangria are both tasty and strong. (Drink deals during happy hour on weeknights!) This is definitely a place to catch a buzz before walking across the street to the Kauffman Center. The parking situation isn't ideal. Your best bet is to find street parking around the restaurant or across Broadway. read more

Went for early dinner on Saturday night. Place was busy but not crowded. Chips were warm and salty... salsa servings are small but tasted fresh. Ordered queso appetizer...very tasty and nice size! Ordered the combination number 10, which was a cheese enchilada, pork burrito with rice and beans. The enchilada tasted like it was made on a homemade corn tortilla and was delicious!!! The pork in the burrito was amazing. Large portion with a very good taste! Had two house margaritas which were watered down and very weak..disappointing and would get beer next time. No draft, only bottled. Service was spotty...food came out quickly, but did not see anyone stop by the table unless we flagged them down. Overall was a good experience, and I would definitely recommend! read more

We moved to the Crossroads almost 2 years ago and the whole time we have been looking for a Mexican restaurant. We were looking for everything- good drinks, authentic food, outdoor seating, great service, etc, etc. After lots of trying we found our place @lostuleskc Cute patio in the back away from the road. Cheese sauce (yes I know what you are thinking that is a block of Velveeta - but it doesn't taste like that at all) Qi savoy pork. Huge portions that can feed two people. Authentic flavors and super kind service. read more
I'm such a huge fan of Tules. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant downtown, and that's saying something! Love the margs, the enchiladas, and the lunch specials. Fighting for a table can be tough. The fact that they now charge for extra chips is bogus. But still a wonderful spot and $1 for a second basket won't deter me. read more

Service was absolutely excellent. Food was really good. Atmosphere was typical. I did appreciate that the staff wasn't stressed about it being a very busy night. Margarita special on Tuesdays is a great deal. Cheese dip with pork will bring us back many many times. A few of us are rice fanatics. And we approve! Didnt get a picture of the dip because we destroyed it. read more

My husband decided we needed their queso dip so he was planning on ordering a carryout meal. We arrived and the place was busy, but they were enforcing social distancing, supplies sanitizer and required masks. He got a table last minute instead. We were seated and the waitress came immediately to take our orders. Within a few minutes the owner came by and asked if he could move us due to a bigger party coming in. We agreed and moved to another table in a quieter spot. The owner then brought out a huge sampler of their dips on the house for the inconvenience. The food here is always fresh, hot and delicious. The flavors and quality are authentic. A great place as far as customer service as well. Not to mention their drinks are huge! read more
