I am from out of town and was visiting family in Springfield when my spouse's 2007 Jeep 5.7 Commander's starter died the day after Christmas. I called a few places who questioned my judgement (I have worked at a few shops, I maintainence my own Jeeps, I am not misinformed on an issue as simple as a starter) or had no time. I called Graham's and spoke with Kevin who is absolutely wonderful. I decided to have my work done with Graham's much in part to his willingness to speak to me as an equal, he was the friendliest person I'd heard from and how quickly he could get me in. In addition to the starter, they discovered the waterpump had recently blown its seal. (I had noticed just before having the vehicle towed that the coolant was low and assume it was my spouse not checking the fluids, as usual) It was warrantied through another shop in the Fort Leonard Wood area, though there was a snag with the labour cost. I asked to check it out and verify the leak before authorizing replacement and Kevin was happy to let me. He also worked with me on the warranty issue and I was rolling again ASAP. Super happy, thank you so much!

They didn't talk down to me or try to BS me and get me to spend more money. Took it to our "trusted" mechanic who we had been using for 3 years. The mechanic took several days (I had to rent a car) and while he checked and charged us trying to "fix" the issue he was unsuccessful. Paid him over $500. Then he directed me to the dealership who also tried to "fix" the issue and misdiagnosed the problem. That repair cost me almost $500. Still having no resolution to the original problem, I was referred to Carl at Family Auto repair. Within an hour he called me. I remember his exact words: "I am embarrassed that both other mechanics could not quickly identify the problem" The problem was with the throttle cable (less than $200). While the other services performed would have been needed at some point, they were not immediate needs. Carl and Family Auto has become my go-to mechanic and every time I take it there, the actual cost is always lower than the original quote. There have been instances when he didn't even charge me!
