This review is for the truck rental department of the store. I reserved a truck rental online and tried to go pick up the truck using the app. They ask for me to take a photo and submit through the app to verify that it matched my ID photo. Which they didn't feel the photos matched... which I do know I have gained a little weight.. so I get it. So I was told I had to go into the location so they could see me in Person with my license to verify it is in fact me. So I did. The rude ass person behind the counter was so rude and refused to even look at my ID and instead just told me I'm SOL because that's not my id. I tried to give her my entire wallet to see all the cards had my name on it and I am in there system because I have rented trucks from them for YEARS. But she wouldn't even try to help and then told the rep on the phone that was trying to help me that I am not the person in the License photo so that they would permanently red flag me in the entire system so now I am unable to rent a uhaul truck any where! This is unbelievable! She was so rude and unprofessional.... not who I would want to be the face of my company for sure!!! This is not the last time they are going to here about this. I will not stop until this is made right. I have offered to provide other proof of my identification but she refused! You can't refuse service to someone because they gained a few pounds BRENDA!!!! Funny how I have NEVER had any problems with someone looking at my license and not being able to see that it was me!!!NEVER!!! read more

I'm giving them 3 stars. The ace staff and products are great. But the u-haul portion of their business is a joke. I had just moved here from out of state and we had our car on a trailer behind out truck. We were told when we left to not take it off our selves or else we could risk damaging it. When we got their it took over 40 minutes for someone to come help us then this bone head of a guy meets us out back and refuses to take the trailer off because " he wasn't getting paid extra to do it and it wasn't his job". My dad and I had to do it and my Dad sliced his finger while doing it. We told the manager and they didn't care at all. Don't use u-haul through them. read more

Best hardware store on the planet! Fast service, knowledgeable people. They just get it!

Love the Potting Shed (inside store). Have bought numerous gifts for myself and others. Best nursery in town. Employees are nice and very friendly, store clean, good variety. read more

Thank you so much Kyle for saving me a lot money. I came in to rent a uhaul truck and after talking to Kyle about the distance, mileage & the cost, we decided against it & he was very considerate & friendly about the whole thing. I wish there were more nice people/workers like you. You truly are an asset to Van's Ace Hardware. read more

Kim in the screens department was so friendly and helpful with my screen order. I will be back for sure!

My "goto place" for Propane tank refills. When you ask for help, they aren't always friendly, but they know what they are talking about. Good paint and they recycle paint - unlike the big box stores. read more

No better place for advice and specialty hardware. A great place to find supplies abd repair parts for older homes as well as new. Kyle is my go-to guy at this store. He had a great attitude and a wealth of knowledge. If they don't have what you are looking for, they will happily tell you where to find it. They also have propane. As a U-Haul rental center, they often gey a bad rep for the disorganization of the U-Haul company, but they do their best. I have rented many tools and machines from Van's and have been happy every time. Support this locally-owned business so we aren't stuck with places like Home Depot for our hardware needs! A+++. My favorite place for home improvement and repairs. They have a nice nursery too! read more

Repairing a leaky toilet required two visits to Ace. They always have what you need and it saves a trip to the big box store. Shirlene helped me both times. She's a treat, very friendly and professional. I look forward to my next visit. read more

They go the extra mile for their customers. I had a problem with some screws i bought from Ace. Terry, the machine shop guy, helped me grind them to the right size. If you talk to the right people there they really do care. I had already been to Home Depot and Lowe's with no luck. From now on I'm going to check Ace first! Thanks again Terry! read more

In the brave new world of mega DIY stores like Home Depot, it's difficult to find a place that provides quality customer service. There are still many customers looking to do home improvement or modifications that don't know what they're doing. Enter Ace Hardware, the last great hope for the doesn't-quite-know-it-all do-it-yourselfer. Right across the street, my wife and I run a small dance studio, and because of its diminutive size, we have to resort to doing any repairs and maintenance ourselves (unless we decide we don't like doing things like eating/paying rent). Sometimes, I don't know how to do these repairs outright. But the friendly employees of Van's Ace Hardware do. If I have any questions, I am likely to locate a red vest-clad professional who knows what he's talking about -- rather than an orange-vest dude that just points out the aisle -- and I will be able to pick up the item I need and leave the store confident that I will be able to get the job done. The location is great, obviously. The onlly drawback is pricing. They have to mark up a little because they don't stock at wholesale volumes, so I understand. It's not terribly expensive, though, and it's better than having to waste time going back and forth. I like to get what I need the first time. That always happens here. read more

I just moved to Tracy and am doing a lot of home improvement repairs. I have ventured to the Vans Ace Hardware numerous times only to be disappointed time and time again. They either do not have what I am looking for and or the employees are sitting around chatting with one another, not asking if you need help as you wander the isles looking for things. Today an outside vendor had to go get someone to help me in the paint department because know one acknowledged me as they walked by and I stood there with my gallon of paint on the counter, after 10 minutes the vendor inquires if I have been helped yet and I said no. She herself said that's ridiculous I told them in the back you needed help. Mind you that the two of the people in back were managers. The vendor offered to get someone again to help me. I thanked her but told her NO, this happens to me every time I'm in here and that I will simply go elsewhere. Honestly the only ones who acknowledge you are the cashiers and the outside vendors other than that you get nothing from the employees "working" the floor. I honestly get more help from Home Depot than I ever have at this store. read more

If you want personal service finding an item, this is the place to go. It may not be as large as Home Depot or Lowes but the service in this Ace Hardware store is above the rest. If they don't stock it they will tell you where you can get it. read more

Stopped in for new keys and needed help getting supplies to handle several repairs around the house I've been putting off. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. They took time to understand what I was trying to do, made suggestions that are easy to follow and saved me money. And the lady who handles the keys was amazing! Fast, helpful and so kind. Thanks! I'll be back for my next home improvement project. read more

*uhaul review* online pricing was not honored here at this uhaul location. i paid the same price for a 17" for a 14" . read more

This Ace hardware is stellar in terms of customer service. Why's that? Because I needed to use a restroom, they accommodated my request, and I did not purchase anything. read more

Very conveniently located and has a huge 1/2 empty parking lot- usually. Sometimes Home Depot and Lowe's can be a hassle with the lines and that's if you can first locate assistance and find what you need. The staff is very knowlegeable and friendly as well. read more

Okay but not so very helpful crews. Its like whoa heres new customer let him find his stuff and hey hers my regular customer let me take care of them. Isnt that sound Favoritism? You guess! read more

I love this store. The staff knows their stuff and they are very helpful. They care about people and you get that welcome feeling when you go in the store. I trust them with all of my home improvement needs. read more

So this isn't a big box store like the orange one, and selection isn't as extensive and price may be a little higher on some things. They are usually pretty helpful though. They have a pretty good garden center. And this is the one place in town to get your propane tank refilled, not exchanged, so like if you have one with a gauge that you don't want to lose. read more

I was completely ripped off by Van's Uhaul rental department. I brought a truck in that I had rented at another location that was having mechanical difficulties; the rental clerk said she would take care of it with Uhaul on my behalf because their regional office was closed. She did not and I was charge 3 x's the original amount for dropping off the vehicle at a different location. Uhaul won't do anything because it wasn't handled correctly at the Tracy Vans Uhaul. I am still waiting for the store manager or owner to call me back...it has been 3 days! I am furious that they do not care about their customers! read more

I had a flyer that said it was valid on March 2nd showed two styles of bird baths for $29.99, when I went into the store they had one of each in stock and I was able to purchase one for the price shown on the flyer but apparently the other one had the wrong SKU which was clearly picture in the flyer that I had but the store manager still didn't want to budge and let me buy it for the price in the flyer. You would think that a company that spends this much money on flyers for their products; they MIGHT want to have more than one of each item on hand for more of their customers. This smells a little bit like a bait n' switch or possibly deceptive marketing. read more
