I had to stop myself from devouring it in three bites. I also loved the hot chocolate. It came with two sugar packets and tasted like quality cacao. The plating and cutlery are well thought out with great textures. My flat white was pretty tasty, and the bacon was savory and thick. The bad: my Shakshuka was subpar. I ate it because I was hungry and the service was so bad I thought I'd never get another dish if I sent it back. It lacked flavor and cohesiveness. In comparison to those I've had in the past, this was far and away the worst. I've never had to add salt and pepper to Shakshuka. The Ugly: the service was the worst I've had in years. Maybe ever. It took about 10 minutes to get greeted. The place wasn't crowded. Half the staff just stares through you. My wife had to wait an additional 5 minutes for avocado toast and smoked salmon, dishes that require no cooking. We have our toddler son with us, and when we asked for a bowl and hot water we were told they didn't have bowls. Only to serve the bread for my dish in, you guessed it, a bowl. Next to a bowl of bacon. When we scanned the room we noticed the other table with black patrons hadn't been served and they got here before us. You couldn't pay me to come back here.

We walked in to a line (always a good sign), and we were right, totally worth the wait. Service is almost magical, they somehow memorize every face, no table numbers needed. Move around if you want, they'll still find you. Our Vegan friend raved about the lentil soup. J crushed a chicken sandwich. E went falafel and loved every bite. And the other J declared the classic Iranian "meat" sandwich amazing, we have no idea what the meat was, but honestly, who cares when it tastes that good! My eggs were cooked to perfection, and they cheerfully handled all my picky substitutions. This place is a true hidden gem, and when I say hidden, I mean blink and you'll miss it. So...don't blink. Highly recommend.

I only finished my omelet because I'm pregnant and needed some food in my body. I got the cathedral omelet which when it came looked so sad. The eggs were not fluffy at all and it was brownish. The prosciutto was just on top of it instead of on the inside. The potatoes were cold and had way too much seasoning on it I couldn't even eat one. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, or maybe all the food tastes bad?

I liked that they had different items out on display that looked fresh. The menu was in French, but one of the women working there noticed we might need help and asked us what we were looking for. So friendly! She also helped us figure out what was gluten-free / gluten-friendly. We ordered a gluten-free avocado toast with an egg sunny side up (pretty solid) a ham and cheese croissant (they pressed it so it was dense and it was perfect) , and we had originally brought our own coffee in to-go cups, but they transferred it into mugs for us when we stayed. I was worried about an extra charge for doing that, but there was none, which was a nice touch. A couple notes: - They take credit cards - Wi-Fi is available - One weird/practical thing: you can't use a laptop until 3 PM so I wouldn't really come here in the morning if I needed somewhere to work. - They seem to be known for their crêpes, although we didn't try one, so I might come back! The total came out to $19.83 CAD. The tables weren't very clean, but overall, a nice experience and glad that the ambience was quiet and welcoming for the morning.

They can be pretty busy so I suggest arriving early. You order your food at the front and pick up your drink on the side. My cappuccino was good. :) We got the Suzy (Avocado Toast with Bacon) and the Aurora (Smoked Salmon Bagel). Both things were delicious and can even be shared if you normally don't eat a big breakfast. The breakfasts we got were around $20 and $22 each. With our one drink and tip, it ended up being over $60 for breakfast at a little cafe, which is slightly more than what I'd normally pay - but perhaps Montreal prices are a little higher? Either way, it was still a nice visit.

The salmon bagel was particularly disappointing and almost inedible. We also tried the spinach and feta scone, but it was quite doughy yet dry, and we couldn't manage more than a few bites. The coffee was decent and the service was fine, but neither was enough to make up for the food. Maybe we simply caught them on an off day, but based on our experience, Tommy didn't quite live up to its reputation. It's a cute yet lively spot to check out for the atmosphere, but I'd go in with tempered expectations when it comes to the food.

What a cute little coffee shop! The display case at the front contained the most beautiful pastries, and there was a glass jar on top of the counter that contained these remarkable looking biscotti cookies unlike any I've seen (they looked more like small cheese bagels, for those of you who know what cheese bagels look like! Very UN-biscotti looking, but man, they were intriguing and everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - smelled incredible). (I'm a sucker for bakeries). My mother ordered a regular drip coffee, my kid ordered a honey cinnamon coffee concoction, and I ordered a vanilla latte. Mom's coffee was nuclear hot, just how she likes it (but rarely gets. She usually has to ask to get her coffee heated up. Not here!). My kid's and my coffees came with frothy milk hearts on top, which we liked a lot. And we both LOVED our coffees! SO SO good. Excellent lattes for sure. I liked the intimate layout of the coffeehouse interior and the fireplace in the center of the cozy room. Also appreciated was the free wifi (and the fact that they post the password prominently by the entry, so you don't have to go and ask anyone for the info. Why don't more places do this?). On the way out, my mother got a blueberry muffin to go, which she had an hour later. She said it was fantastic, and super fresh. Great place.
