"Wish they'd let me in so I could find out What's behind the green door" (Jim Lowe) Looking for a great cup of coffee, amazing French pastries, or assorted groceries? Well, look no further than the green door that leads you into Le Petit Dep, there are seven of them in the area. After a long walking day doing touristy things, we wanted to bring a snack back to our hotel, so we visited their Rue St-Paul Ouest café in the heart of Old Montreal. We were overwhelmed by their Patisserie menu of delicious pastries, croissants, biscuits, scones, cakes, muffins and more . We narrowed down our choices to a Chocolate Raspberry scone and an Almond scone. I absolutely cannot tell you which one was the best, because they were both amazing. They were fresh, flaky, with plenty of chocolate slivers, raspberries, and sliced almonds. They were sweet but not too sweet, and both were big portions. They were fantastic. I wanted something different to drink, so scanned their menu for the unfamiliar and decided on a Café Allongé, which is an elongated shot of espresso, so it isn't as strong as a regular espresso. It was a nice accompaniment to those decadent pastries. We had breakfast at a different Petit Dep on Friday morning and loved their chocolate croissant and cheese and spinach croissant. They were fantastic as well.

My husband and I came here for hot chocolate (both light and dark), and shared the cheese scone, chocolate chip cookie, date bar and Twix bar. Everything was great, but the date bar was the best of all. Numerous unique gift items for sale as well-good, clothing, toys, ornaments, etc. Very friendly staff as well. Several tables inside if you dine in too.

I thought this would be a tourist trap as this is right in the middle of the Old Town Montreal, and the sign says they have been operating since 1822, but the place is legit. My cappuccino was exquisite and even the 50% off cookie from yesterday did not disappoint! Very pleased. The place is charming and quaint. They also have some souvenir and gifts options. Do stop by. Example of the kind of chocolate they sell. Now THIS is tourist-worthy! :)

LOVED this little cafe - It represents the best of Montreal! Not only for its cozy ambiance with its storefront with its wooden signage in a beautiful mint green and wooden floors but its employees and people who were there to hang out. Sells unique gift items as a refreshing alternative to what you may find in the Old City section of Montreal selling stuff made in China. (I really tried my best to avoid buying souvenirs that aren't locally made or not made in Canada since what's the point anyway not to buy something from the actual country you are visiting?) Oh yes, and their coffee and pastries/desserts are very yummy, do pay a visit!

Super popular smaller coffee and cafe place near the Basilica. Lots of foot traffic, they were out of cold brew but the iced americano did the trick. The chocolate croissant was tasty and service was friendly despite being very busy.

Cafe and gift shop and ready meals to go. Stopped by here to grab a dark hot chocolate with milk, which sounds good on this cold, wet and rainy day in Montreal. Ordered a small dark hot chocolate for C$6.05. The hot chocolate was a hint of dark chocolate, but was quite weak and mostly tasted of milk. Not good.

A small but cute place in the Old Port. It's one of the only places that is open until later in the day so it's amazing for a late night snack. The coffee here is great, their teas too. The gelato was honestly great which I was not expecting and what pleasantly surprised. The staff has been nice everytime we visit. An amazing place and stop if you are in the Old Port.

The vibes were cute inside. The lavender latte was good. The carrot cake and raisin roll were also good. The person taking the order was just ok. Good option if I am right there. Wouldn't go out of my way.

We stopped by for snacks and drinks after visiting Notre Dame. The staff was super friendly. I was trying to decide between a chocolate and coffee shake, and the barista said they could make me a chocolate shake with coffee. It was delicious! I also had a cheddar cheese and greens onions scone, which was also really good. My husband had a lemonade with honey. He said it wasn't sweet at all, so it wasn't his favorite. If you're nearby and want some refreshing drinks and parties, I definitely recommend stopping by!

Quaint little coffee shop. Really busy, but super friendly and polite staff. Good place to grab a coffee if you're nearby. Good flat white.

I found this coffee shop on Instagram before going to Montreal for the first time and was so happy I decided to visit them. I knew I had to return on my second trip to Montreal. The ambiance, GF goodies, gifts and coffee are all amazing! I love it and recommend for anyone who likes good coffee. The service is also wonderful.

I really just stopped in to get a hot chocolate and get out of the cold. While waiting for my drink, I checked the store. The store itself has an incredible amount of delectable looking food and drink stuffs. I honestly wanted to get everything. After about 5-10 minutes my name was called and my hot chocolate was ready. It looked pretty as a picture with its whipped cream and cocoa design. Unfortunately it did not taste as good as it looked. It wasn't bad, just average.

Cute cafe conveniently located in downtown Montreal. The cafe itself is quite small but offers a wide array of pastries, food, and coffee beverages. Also a great spot for getting souvenirs- lots of maple syrup and cute Montreal items (magnets, mugs, bags, etc). The souvenir stuff is on the pricier side compared to some of the other shops but it's just so cute you have to visit.

I ordered my raspberry and custard danish to pair with my Americano coffee... but I also wanted something more substantial so I went with the pancetta. Well, I thought I was ordering the pancetta, when I pointed at the item with the sign for it, it was actually a ham and cheese croissant...but until they served it I didn't know that's what I had pointed to. When I questioned it that it didn't look like pancetta they said that people always mix that up... I guess maybe they ought to display it differently, but they happily made me the pancetta and I took it to go because at that point I had already bit into the ham and cheese and that along with the danish and coffee, it was enough for then... They didn't charge me for the pancetta! That was NICE, so I gave them an extra tip in the jar, because they were very gracious about it. The danish was very good and went nicely with the coffee. I enjoyed my window seat overlooking the street (until the bee came....) Later, when I went to eat the pancetta, I unwrapped it and found it to be barely filled with any meat, but certainly plenty of greens. It wasn't pleasant, so I didn't really take but a couple bites before throwing that away. I'm glad I didn't pay for it, if that's how it normally comes. Overall I'd go again and order the danish and coffee. The ham and cheese was actually pretty good too. But I'd be careful on the pancetta.. maybe it was a one-off situation.

It can get busy and the lines form out the door, but the pastries and coffee are worth it. We ordered the chocolate and pistachio filled croissants and donuts. I would rate both chocolate and pistachio filled croissants a 9/10 and the donut versions of each a 7/10. I felt the croissants tasted better and had more filling. We ordered the Remix which is authentic freddo expresso, cafe crema soft serve and topped off with hot frothed milk and chocolate. This was a 10/10 and was every bit of amazing as it looks in the picture. Service was fast and friendly. One note, they don't have flavored coffees, so I couldn't order a caramel latte, for example. We ordered a hot chocolate, cappuccino, tiramisu, and an affogato, and every single item exceeded expectations. The hot chocolate was rich, smooth, and indulgent without being overly sweet -- pure comfort in a cup. The cappuccino was perfectly brewed with bold espresso flavor and beautifully textured milk, exactly how a great Italian-style coffee should be. The highlight of our visit, without question, was the affogato. It was hands down the best I've ever had. The pistachio gelato was unbelievably creamy, nutty, and flavorful, and when paired with the hot espresso, it created an unforgettable balance of temperature and taste. It was truly out of this world and worth the visit on its own. To finish, the tiramisu was light, perfectly layered, and not overpowering -- a flawless end to an already incredible experience. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and authentic. Café Olimpico isn't just a café -- it's an experience. Exceptional quality, consistency, and passion in every cup and dessert. Highly recommended, and absolutely a place we'll keep coming back to.
