Our first stop, and first time at Cafe Lulu meant we needed a quick bite. We came in around 9:30-9:40 AM and the place was about half full, so it was easy to walk in and order. I liked that they had different items out on display that looked fresh. The menu was in French, but one of the women working there noticed we might need help and asked us what we were looking for. So friendly! She also helped us figure out what was gluten-free / gluten-friendly. We ordered a gluten-free avocado toast with an egg sunny side up (pretty solid) a ham and cheese croissant (they pressed it so it was dense and it was perfect) , and we had originally brought our own coffee in to-go cups, but they transferred it into mugs for us when we stayed. I was worried about an extra charge for doing that, but there was none, which was a nice touch. A couple notes: - They take credit cards - Wi-Fi is available - One weird/practical thing: you can't use a laptop until 3 PM so I wouldn't really come here in the morning if I needed somewhere to work. - They seem to be known for their crêpes, although we didn't try one, so I might come back! The total came out to $19.83 CAD. The tables weren't very clean, but overall, a nice experience and glad that the ambience was quiet and welcoming for the morning. read more

Overall this cafe is very average. I ordered a ciabata but it was half cold when it was served to me. Service was not very warm or friendly and also quite slow despite the cafe not being very busy. I was also surprised that the cafe was very unclean. Table tops had not been wiped over and the glass on the sandwich cabinet had finger prints all over it. The staff are the most welcoming people, very nice and always checking in on you to make sure everything is ok. The food on the other hand was basic. We ordered two homemade crepes, one stuffed with spinach and formage and the other with Nutella. Yes the crepes are homemade there but definitely would've liked it better if my spinach was cooked beforehand. It was a crepe with a thin layer of raw spinach and sadly the cheese barely melted too. The Nutella crepe was good. Also ordered the cappuccino and smoothie, which was delicious. Overall the service was great, food was nothing to swoon over. read more

Stopped by for breakfast before heading to airport on latest trip to Montreal. The employees truly are the main reason to visit. All were welcoming and super friendly. I appreciate how easily they were able to accommodate the fact we spoke English only :) I ordered the Complet and while it was not my favorite breakfast (the sausages and ham were quite different than what I'm used to as an American and I felt it was a bit lacking in flavor) Overall the meal was very filling and ingredients seemed fresh. WONDERFUL! Cafe Lulu is a cute little corner place in the Village with extraordinarily friendly people behind the counter and excellent and delicious food! We enjoyed breakfast two days in a row - both very good. Coffee is always better outside of the US - scrumptious and sumptuous and delicious Caffe Macchiato! The first day we had a fresh ham, swiss, and asparagus crepes and a chocolate croissant. The second visit we had a delicious egg, ham and cheese croissant and a delicious blueberry crumble bar. The food case is busting with a variety of tasty breakfast and lunch treats - most we didn't have time to try but I'm sure just as great as what we did have. Highly recommend a stop here! read more

I can see why people like Café Lulu so much. The service is stellar: friendly, helpful, and during my meal I saw several instances of the staff just going above and beyond. They were patient with tourists who didn't speak French, which says a lot in Montreal. I ordered a crepe with creme de pistache, which turned out to be a pistachio paste with the consistency of Nutella but a deeper and nuttier flavor. It was delicious! A great little cafe at Beri UQAM! It's very casual and not too expensive. The service is always super nice and quick and the food is fresh. The last time I went I had the spinach and cheese crepe with added ham. It came with pesto which was unexpected but a great addition. This place, and its owner Fade, are absolutely fantastic. We walked in having been roundly ignored down the road at St. Hubert. Having struck out and chicken, we went with eggs instead. Fade whipped up some great omelettes...and I mean great...exactly as we ordered them. We sat for a time having dinner and watching the world go by outside, then decided to stick around for a little longer. We had flourless chocolate cake for dessert, which was superb too. The food was all great, but it was the vibe of the place and the kindness of Fade that made it worthwhile. He told us he was from Lebanon, and in Montreal for 25 years now. His English was great, and his French seemed to be too, given what I heard of it with the others in the place. This was the first time in a bunch of days in Montreal that anyone tried to make me feel at home, though, and I appreciated it beyond measure. You should come here if you have the chance. Tell Fade the two Marillion fans in town for the weekend recommended it. read more
