I loved this coffee place! Quick service, cool ambiance, and effortlessly trendy. I've tried the marocchino, the granita, granita al caffe, and the bastion virgin and everything has been good! I've also had a handful of the pastries and my favourite is the small sandwich that has this meat and pistachio spread in it. So good!! It makes you feel like you got transported to Italy with their hectic decor, fast paced vibe and yet you don't mind sitting there observing all of this with a baked good and coffee in hand. There's a standing area for you to make this a true standing bar- grab drink and go but there's diner like seating right behind for those who want to take moment longer. We ordered a ham and cheese foccocia for our bake- based on how it came out warmed, can tell the rest of this place is probably a good regular place to come to for coffee/ snacks. Great location. Good terrace. Abundant amount of people working to serve. I ordered an Americano, and got a double espresso. After paying $5.18+15% tip they tell me " oh this is a non-Americano ". We don't do that here. It would dilute the flavour! I asked to add some water to it, I hate what I got, they refused! Refunded me the price without the tip back as they cannot return that. 1- I paid tip for someone who could have made it clear that my order cannot be made. 2- I paid for something that I need. Cute little cafe, that brings me back to vacationing in Italy. The only difference is that in Italy i've never seen a coffee bar that colourful! Inside theres both standing/bar height tables for a true (quick) Italian coffee break. Otherwise theres small tables both inside and a small patio outside. Being that i wanted to relieve having breakfast in Italy, I had to order a cappuccino and a cornetto. The way to eat it is to dip the cornetto in your cappuccino :). Coffee was strong and well done, definitely no complaints for a quick breakfast. Options for the cornetto was pistachio and nutella filled. We got both, and also tried a bomboloni filled with nutella. The bomboloni reminded me of a Chinese donut my parents used to buy, but it was filled with lotus seed paste. read more

Literally one of the most perfectly prepared single espresso's in the city! Simon doesn't mess around when it comes to providing extraordinary service --- and he surely knows his way around a coffee bar, plus coffee making equipment. So much so, you'd think he was actually born Italian. Regardless, of where he's officially from - he knows his stuff. While I'm on the subject of great service and hard work; his counter counterpart Ryan is always doing something to keep the ship top shape! In between his duties, he still manages to keep up an outstanding and memorable level of hospitality. Apart from top shelf level staff the decor is beyond hip - with its pick one; 70s, 80s or 90s colour theme meets authentic Napoleon coffee bar setting. The music fittingly matches the vibe --- usually either 90s hip hop or classic Italian. I could go on and on about the perfect mix of Italian specialties from real-deal Italian sweet treats to savory sandwiches (in which to nibble or chew on when sipping your coffee). I'd venture to say they nailed it in the just-the-right-amount-of-choice category. As per beverages they have a well curated mix of cold and hot beverage, plus an aperitivos list that leave nothing to be desired. To top off a memorable visit they even have swag which ranges from clothing to bags of coffee roasted and imported from Rome (whole bean or ground) in their signature pink packaging. Definitely looking forward to my next chance to try more of their offerings -- maybe you can tell by the description, but let me highlight this --- it's the kind of place you don't want to leave. What a great addition to this part of downtown: I stopped at this little café bar on a week day around 3 pm for coffee, the interior is amazing! I loved everything from the colours to the choices of furniture. Service was joyful, which is always a plus especially nowadays. I wanted to add a pastry but didn't know what to choose and they suggested the perfect combination ( I can't recall the name of this Italian specialty unfortunately). They also have a terrasse that I can't wait to try next summer... I will be back! read more

Caffettiera is artisan coffee made by experts. They are serious and studious about making espresso to rival the quality you might find in cafe in Italy. The froth in my Cappucino was perfect, thick, decadent, and sublime. If you want to understand how amazing Caffettiera is get an espresso based beverage to go then walk two or three doors further to Tim Horton's or to Starbucks and order an the same drink. Super cute little coffee shop/bar(?) that made us some delicious warm drinks on a cold day - I loved my little chocolate donut as an afternoon treat and my husband enjoyed a weirdly spicy/sweet grilled cheese. Such an amazing ambiance, so colourful, and great staff!! Not to mention the wide selection of Italian-style and unique coffees, which are phenomenal as well.
