a cup of coffee and a croissant

Cute cafe to grab coffee and go. I stopped by in the morning and it was packed, but everyone moved quickly and I was in and out within 10 minutes. They have a small cozy backyard and plenty of seating area up front, but the cafe itself is relatively small.

A friend from Montreal claims that this is the best coffee in the area; I believe it. Delicious creamy vanilla latte, very friendly service. The kind of warm place you would want to sit down for a while and people-watch or chat without looking at your phone. A bit pricier than other coffees we tried on this trip, but the ambiance is great. Dined: December 14, 2022

Wanted to try out a new cafe and came across this gem yesterday. I frequent many coffee shops in Montreal and I would put Cafe Nocturne's coffee as one of top 15%. The latte was strong and the aroma was wonderful. The whole cafe abounds with coffee aroma and creates a great vibe. Even though there are lots of students studying there and usually it can be quite congested but other than this minor issue, I felt it was a great place to have a good quality coffee. The barista was super friendly and greeted with a wide smile. Who doesn't love a smile? :) There is a patio on the back of the cafe and I assume it would be a nice place to hangout with friends during summer. Besides coffee, the interior is also nicely decorated, creating an overall welcoming environment. Would definitely go again and recommend to others!

I was sitting at a café and across i notice Café Nocturne and I said to myself, next time I will go there. Here I am today, and I wasn't sure what was I expecting. It has minimal decor, tons of space. The look is complete rustic. Two pieces of decor are absolutely stunning! The world map taking the whole wall and an antique clock (not working) at entrance wall. My barista person was super nice. The disappointing part is that this café doesn't have much to offer for food. Few muffins, cookies and scones. I asked if they offer anything hearty. She said bagel with cream cheese. So I decided to settle with bagel and cream cheese with a chai latte. My food was satisfying, but I do wish they had more to offer such salad or better sandwiches. I spent a good 1/2 hour. The ambiance was soothing and calm while I was eating and reading my book. They also have free WIFI.

Matcha latte and iced match lattes

Tbh, I never liked matcha lattes because they're not yummy but as people get older, their tastes change. For me, I guess I just got more basic because matcha lattes became my choice beverage at cafes in 2018. So clearly I got one here and to be even more basic, ofc I got it with soy (I'm not even lactose intolerant). I honestly wasn't expecting much. I always get matcha lattes. They're never bomb but I just continue to get them. Wow. Like this one actually has flavour but wasn't powdery. Was creamy but didn't taste likit was made with cream (there are definitely some where I've wonder if cream was used instead of milk). Let me also add that I went to 3 other cafes around the area on Boxing Day and they were all closed. When everyone else shuts you out, nocturne got your back.

Stumbled upon this cafe while walking through the neighborhood because of the decor that caught my eye. I could see that this a great place to work in because of their high work tables and decent lighting. My friends and I got their matcha latte and chai latte, both iced. The matcha was unsweetened so get this if you are a lover of matcha. The ice chai latte was sweet and delicious. There is also a lovely outdoor space with garden lights to relax in, which is also photo worthy in itself.

I stopped here for a quick coffee-to-go and I was not disappointed! It's a cute little café with a rustic charm that seems to be popular among students. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon (around 2pm) and the place was packed; I had originally planned to study there, but decided to grab my machiato to go instead. Their service was quick and amiable, and their prices are standard for a third wave café. Their machiato was delicious; their espresso is to die for, and that dollop of milk really takes off a little of the bite and adds a nice fragrance. Definitely not the machiato you get at Starbucks. Nice quick service if you're looking for a coffee and a snack to go. If you're looking to stay a while longer, try to arrive a little earlier to cop a seat!

Flat white was terrific. Americano great. Very friendly staff the day we went. Clean interior with washrooms.

Great place to do work! Got an almond milk latte. Barista was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and I loved the latte art as well.

This is a superbly designed cafe with seating options at the front, along tall tables opposite the counter, on a cushioned bench beside the bookshelf, and in the back alcove. The floors and brick and wood surfaces exudes a warmth to contrast with the white tiled and painted walls. The chai latte was among the best I've had while the coffee filtre (regular coffee dripped through a filter of grounds) was strong and hot. We enjoyed our relaxing afternoon drink with free wifi access too. And loved their Owl logo!

BEST vanilla latte I have ever had with a delicious scone! The atmosphere brightened up the gloomy morning and I was able to get a lot of work done, uninterrupted. Everyone was very nice and helpful, as it was my first time visiting the cafe, and will definitely not be my last.

Filter coffee and chocolate chip cookie! ($5.25 altogether)

It can get busy and the lines form out the door, but the pastries and coffee are worth it. We ordered the chocolate and pistachio filled croissants and donuts. I would rate both chocolate and pistachio filled croissants a 9/10 and the donut versions of each a 7/10. I felt the croissants tasted better and had more filling. We ordered the Remix which is authentic freddo expresso, cafe crema soft serve and topped off with hot frothed milk and chocolate. This was a 10/10 and was every bit of amazing as it looks in the picture. Service was fast and friendly. One note, they don't have flavored coffees, so I couldn't order a caramel latte, for example. We ordered a hot chocolate, cappuccino, tiramisu, and an affogato, and every single item exceeded expectations. The hot chocolate was rich, smooth, and indulgent without being overly sweet -- pure comfort in a cup. The cappuccino was perfectly brewed with bold espresso flavor and beautifully textured milk, exactly how a great Italian-style coffee should be. The highlight of our visit, without question, was the affogato. It was hands down the best I've ever had. The pistachio gelato was unbelievably creamy, nutty, and flavorful, and when paired with the hot espresso, it created an unforgettable balance of temperature and taste. It was truly out of this world and worth the visit on its own. To finish, the tiramisu was light, perfectly layered, and not overpowering -- a flawless end to an already incredible experience. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and authentic. Café Olimpico isn't just a café -- it's an experience. Exceptional quality, consistency, and passion in every cup and dessert. Highly recommended, and absolutely a place we'll keep coming back to.

My husband and I went to Cafe et Crepe for breakfast on our latest trip to Montreal. I got the roast beef crepe ($15.95) which comes with roast beef, bell peppers, cheese, spinach and usually onions, but I asked them to omit it. My husband got the turkey, cheese and egg crepe ($15.95). All savoury crepes come with a side salad. I asked for the dressing on the side and was told that's not possible because the salads are pre-dressed. Bummer because I find pre-dressed salads over-dressed for my tastes and double bummer because the dressing contained poppy seeds, which I can't eat :( Food was not wasted though, my husband ate my salad, lol. The crepes are regular wheat crepes not the buckwheat Breton-style crepes. They were tasty though and I liked that they were not stingy with the fillings. The peppers in my crepe were nicely al dente and were plentiful. The roast beef was deli meat, but there was a good amount. I had a taste of my husband's crepe and it was good too. The turkey was also deli meat. The salad had kale, carrots, red cabbage and corn kernels. My husband thought it was ok. It was drenched in dressing. Service was satisfactory. The ambiance is very casual. There's a television streaming sports. It's in an aged building that it shared with other businesses such as a spinning or was it Pilates (?) studio. The washrooms are up a flight of creepy stairs in the building (you have to exit the back of the restaurant). The place seemed to be popular with tourists. We sat at the front away from the crowds, but the back was full. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer to dine Al fresco. Street parking only, which I imagine would be a pain to find. We were carless on our trip so just walked there. (114)

It's really hard to mess up a crepe because usually the stars are the ingredients inside of the crepe. The cafe in itself doesn't look like much, but it was full of people, and they make a very good crepe here. I ordered something you don't normally see in menus, and that's a mochaccino. Whatever chocolate they use it is fantastic, really good quality. I'm thinking about it in lamentation because I know that unless I make it myself, I probably wont stumble across one as good as that was. Then came the crepe. It had goat cheese, mozzarella, spinach, and egg. So massive that I was already full by the time I ate half of it. It came with this sauce or Dijon dressing that knocked my socks off good. Also tried the sweet crepe and that was amazing as well. What a delightful breakfast before a full day of activities in old Montreal! I'd highly recommend it.

What a little oasis in the city, loved my experience here!…read more I stumbled across this cafe while visiting and I could tell it looked like a popular local spot. There was a small line but the wait was short. I ordered a cappuccino and a BLT bagel sandwich. Both were really great. The cappuccino was one of the best ones I've had on my trip. The beans they picked were good, and the milk was steamed perfectly. The BLT bagel sandwich really caught me by surprise. I honestly wasn't expecting too much. They did such a good job balancing all the flavors and it didn't feel like a heavy sandwich like some BLT sandwiches can be. The general feel of the cafe is very cozy and comfortable. The window in the front let in amazing light, making the cafe such an inspirational spot (would be amazing to spend a day in there working). There were also plants everywhere and the greenery is such a nice touch. They even had fresh flowers on every table (so rare to find these days). The staff were super friendly. You ordered at the counter, get your number for the table, and the staff members would bring you your food. I was there in the morning and everyone had a smile on their face. The space seemed to uplift everyone's mood in there. I had such a great first time impression of this place and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.
