I decided to try this dental office because they offered an affordable new patient exam, X-Ray and cleaning for $59, and it was well worth it. The hygienist was okay--not especially friendly, but she did her job professionally. Dr. Derek, on the other hand, was much more personable. I appreciated that he didn't try to recommend or pressure me into unnecessary procedures or treatments, which can be hard to find these days. The office itself is nice, although I've certainly seen fancier dental offices. In my experience, those upscale offices are often the ones trying to sell you treatments you don't really need, so I actually appreciated the straightforward approach here. The best part of every visit has been Deb. Deb is such a wonderful dental hygienist and she is so warm and friendly. Deb always makes me feel at ease during a visit. He was patient, caring and from my standpoint extremely knowledgeable. I was show exactly the problem by both the attending assistant and Dr Behm both. I had a serious abscess tooth that bothered me for months and I didn't want to go to the dentist until it got too painful and unbearable. I went to Value Dental Care in Spring Hill. The staff were very friendly, and they were able to remove the tooth and took care of the Abscess. They did not try to monetize me by recommending all sorts of oral care. I have been going there regularly for my scheduled cleaning and I must say that it is a great relief to find the right dental care practice. DO NOT GO HERE. I recently had 2 crowns put on by Boholst. One shows in my smile. It was cemented on crooked. I was told that he aligns it with my bite. I responded I want my smile strait. I have always had a strait smile. He walked out of the room never to return ! The Dental Assistant gave me a bunch of BS and said I signed a waiver. End of story. No attempt to resolve my very obvious crooked crown. They are unprofessional, uncaring and plain bad. Obviously they only care about the money and not the patients. My insurance paid 2000.00 and I paid $ 350.00. Now it will cost me thousands to fix it, if it can be fixed at all. I will be filing a complaint with the Florida Board Of dentists, the Attorney general, informing my insurance company and filing a small claims court. You are forced to sign a waiver without any recourse. Is that fair or just ? Ask yourself why would I go back to have a crown fixed unless it was wrong ? Everyone was so nice and put me at ease before meeting with Dr. Boholst. Dr. Boholst was very kind, took his time and there was absolutely no judgement like past dentists. The true shining star of the office is Nick! What a great guy! Not only is he very personable, but he put me right at ease after I told him how nervous I was about the visit. Nick made sure that I was comfortable during the x ray process, carefully explained each step and actually made those horrible bitewing xrays less painful than they usually are. I have a heavy amount of work done yesterday morning I had several root canals my whole top was crowned 3 wisdom removed and a couple of my commons removed going back in a month to finish my procedure I was charged beyond fair Dr Mark and his assistant were incredibly professional and gentle they kept me up with what they were doing to the best of their abilities considering the medication I was on for this was pretty heavy as it was needed due to my fear of the dentist. This place is amazing I honestly wish I would have found them sooner I have gone to other places and each place, I had teeth removed. I was in extreme pain the next day and this morning I have not taking anything just yet for pain and I don't feel a thing. 100% recommend Dr. Mark. I was even given a courtesy call hours after I had gotten home to check on me.! Normally, I am someone that chooses the more fancy office. I would give zero stars. I had 8 crowns done, they were done all at once leaving my bite poorly asusted and I was injected through the tongue which left it numb 6 months. Went 5 mon after I left bc it was so bad they grinded my teeth too much out and in my mouth. Went back about a week or 2 later same thing. I was forced to pay 100% in advance for all work. The teeth made were fine the install wasn't. I attempted several times to make another appointment to fix after going to several other dentists, which none would touch the teeth. Eventually I was referred to a prosthodontist since my bite needs to be reprogrammed and some or all teeth broken out and redone. I paid 1 card off the other I owe over $5k on and it will cost $20k or more to fix! The office manager Jeanie was unprofessional and nasty. Front desk also nasty. The tech thought she was the best thing ever. Extremely pushy and offered her opinion where unwanted. All in All horrible experience and I'm trying to keep the monies they were paid in dispute. They didn't want to see me bc I disputed it. You can't find a lawyer to sue them but small claims is my only option. Oh where do I begin with this horrible place. 1) The manager of this office is a witch. She never smiles, she's never friendly and she's extremely argumentative (she also has no idea how to put on eyeliner. She puts it on about a quarter of an inch underneath her bottom eyelid). I have never met a more rude manager in my life. Here's an idea, if you hate people and working with the public, get a different job! 2). Dr. Mark was OK. Asked me way too many personal questions though- to the point I wondered if he was going to stalk me on social media. 3). Shannon, the assistant, was nice until she wasn't. She also told me she hates working there. I jokingly said "I hate this place I want to leave". And she said "Me too. Take me with you". All she did was complain about this place and her job....My friend also swears she's on drugs. I wonder if this place drug tests LMAO. 4) They put a crown in. A few minutes later, I said the crown is loose and I can move it with my tongue. The dentist said it's fine and left the room. Shannon said the cement Was still wet but I will be fine.. And I told her I wasn't comfortable leaving and that it shouldn't be moving like that. Again-she said it'll be fine. Well guess what Shannon? I wasn't fine. The crown fell out three hours later. 5). They are open until five or 530. But complain about later appointments. They would call me two hours before my appointment and ask me if I can come in early. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. One time I was sitting on the couch doing nothing and I very well could've come in. But I said nope. I'll get there when my appointment is. I found out, that I was the last patient and everybody wanted to be lazy and go home early. Hence why they try to get patients to come in early. Especially for the last patient. Once they even called me an hour before my appointment and asked me what time I was coming in lol. I said "uhhh my appointment time". How about not staying open until 5 if you don't want to stay till five? Don't harass the customers and ask them to come in early because nobody wants to do their job and stay until closing time. read more

The office is clean and everyone is very courteous. I was quite nervous of having a molar extracted and being awake. The only teeth I had removed in the past was wisdom teeth and I was not awake. I asked if there was any way to get a prescription for a sedative being awake. I took the pill the night before and one hour before my appointment. It must have worked because I didn't feel nervous about any of it. The dental tech brought me back to the room to explain the procedure and that I should only feel pressure as the tooth is extracted. I let the tech know of my concerns and he said they could stop at any time and continue when I ready if needed. I told the tech that I didn't want to see the shot or any of the other instruments. The tech and the dentist let me know that if any time i felt pain to raise my left arm.I was able to put my earbuds in and listen to a podcast. I felt a little discomfort from the Novocain but that was all I felt. I didn't feel pain or pressure at all. at all and before I knew it it was all over. All I needed for aftercare was just 800 mg of Ibuprofen and just had discomfort and no swelling or pain. Highly reccomen read more

I think there have been a lot changes at Value Dental since the pandemic. I was a patient of theirs for about 5 years. I went to Value Dental, Spring Hill, to fix a lower tooth that needed a crown. The molding material that they used was so stiff that I had a hard time opening my mouth. I was concerned about the bridge I had that was located above that lower tooth. When I got home I checked the bridge and there was movement in it. I told the Dr. on my return visit to have the crown installed. She confirmed that the bridge was loose. She said that she would check to see what they could do for me. What they did for me was give me a quote for $3846. to replace the bridge. I went to Value Dental with a small problem and left with a huge problem. It's enough to make me sick! read more

They charged me $940 for a root canal that could not be done on my tooth. Six hours and two months later they sent me for a consult. Then refunded my $940, and then I had to get the tooth pulled. If DR. VAN HOOSE had a brain in his head, I would still have a tooth in my mouth. He was fired, but that didn't bring my tooth back. read more

When she developed profuse bleeding and called the number 3 times but never got a return call and ended up in the ER. A call to the office when they opened was useless. I have been to teeth cleaning more than dozen time in my life even to the dentist school where students were doing the work, and they always ended the teeth cleaning with polishing my teeth before I leave. I even asked her to do the final procedure but she refused to do claim it can only be done at the deep cleaning, that I need to come back for 2 more deep cleaning appointments which 2 months later... which cost $202 each quarter of the mouth! and another "maintenance" for another $75. I called back to give them a chance to let me come back to clean! I would had come back and let my insurance pay for if that lady just take 1 minute to polish my teeth, but because of her LAZINESS AND GREEDY, they just lost a customer which they could charge $404+75 just for TWO QUADS! I just made appointment with Dental School that charge only $30 to deep clean FULL mouth! I was with them for many years and EVERY time, they did polish my teeth EVERYTIME, let me go with sample, doesn't matter how many times I have to come back for the next cleaning!!! This is the worst Dentist in Crystal River. The dentist did a root canal on a Friday. By the time the numbness wore off I was in horrible pain. Tried calling did not receive a call back til Sunday and was told there was nothing they could do and to call back on Monday so I called back on Monday and they could not get me in til Friday. So I called around and found Dr Swansen in crystal river he got me in on Monday and fixed the botched Root canal. Then 6 months after all this I get a call from Value Dental and told I am being put into collection because they were sending a bill for $29 dollars to someone else . So I tried to talk to the lady and she began yelling at me I need to pay it that it is not there fault they were sending it to the wrong address. This place is a Joke don't be fooled. By far the worst dentist appointment i have ever went to. The staff is very cold and could not be bothered by any of my health concerns and condition that does affect my teeth. The hygienist was speaking very poorly about prior employment and ridiculed an opposing religion; this was very unprofessional and i should have gotten out of my chair. She also degraded prior patients and hinted that she would have 'beaten the child's butt'. She also got the teeth polishing spray in my eye and acted bothered that my eye was burning and i couldn't see out of it. Furthermore, I have had teeth cleanings and exams every 6 months since i can remember and my past dentist has had a special cleaning procedure fit for my teethes condition. My last dentist was very personal and took TIME to understand my condition but this dentist? he did not introduce himself or ask how i was. he proceeded to yank my jaw around and made me feel like complete trash. He was so cold and I felt zero confidence in his opinion or expertise. I should have listened to my friends and family who warned against this place but i am a broke college student and i am trying to keep my teeth healthy. I totally get that every dentist has their way of doing things but when a patient comes in with a health condition that does directly affect their teeth and has maintained HEALTHY teeth for years, maybe you should look at their chart and possibly what they are concerned about. I will gladly save up and go to a specialist who will give a damn. I had no teeth problems going in so i did not expect to be treated the way i was. Never should i leave a cleaning in tears and in complete panic (and don't worry, no one cared that i was like that either...so lovely and warm!). yeah well i went to value dental and i had 2 teeth that broke off my partial. in the front they had to replace them. when they did i was not happy with the results because I know my mouth. keep telling them it was not right the replacement was too long hitting my top denture and is not comfortable and the alternative they gave me was... "Well we can take the teeth off the partial and give you your money back", Really you go to a Dentist thinking I believe in them and they will help me. Yeah Right. They did not care I was uncomfortable but... it was pre- paid cash no insurance so I had no choice. either go without front teeth or deal with what they gave me. I had to deal... Staff behind the scenes are ok, but "whoever" does their appt's needs to stop working with the airline industry and STOP overbooking. I've been there a total of 3 times and each time I've been made to wait at least an hour. I show up early each time and people on their sheet have the same appt. time as me and then people come in off the street after I've already been kept waiting for an hour and they get called back first. Appalling and rude. Hoping this crown fits well, because I won't be back there anytime soon. My time is just as valuable as theirs and personally. of course my time is more important than theirs. I came in for a routine check up and cleaning for the first time 6 months ago. I was able to get an appointment right away. The staffed worked with me on the time I needed. The office was kept so nice and clean. The hygenist who cleaned my teeth didn't do the best job ever. However, the reason why I gave this 5 stars is because of the Dentist I saw. Dr. Santa-Cruz was friendly and took his time with my exam. The tooth that had been bothering me had a cavity. He filled it and it was completely painless. Which I was so surprised because it was my first filling ever. So there was some anxiety there. He explained everything to me and really made me feel like my questions mattered. Which that is hard to find in a doctor these days. I heard some negative things about some of the other doctors that are employed at Value Dental Care. I'm happy I got the good Dentist! after my husband and me being patients for over 3 years my mother wanted a new set of dentures it only was right to give more business. over a year and later and 25 visits for adjustment we asked to please get a refund, the office manager said no way, she had worked very hard and refused to give and refund. she is almost 88 years old and lives on ss chk. they charged her $720.00 for sub standard set which she left on the counter.
