He quoted me a very reasonable price, And as we went through the process of replacing the roof, he gave me options about replacing other things that they found. Artem ended up replacing all the roofs, built a roof deck on one of them and constructed the door that led into the house. He also built an apartment in our unfinished garage with a custom staircase, going up to a trap door that he cut into the floor he designed, and then installed a custom-made oak hatch that provides access to the finished space below. He was very good at both executing the job and working with me to create a bigger vision for the house. His team of veteran roofers were efficient, polite, and worked well under Artem's direction. While Artem is a great roofer, he also has a broad range of skills that make him invaluable for other projects. I haven't been on the roof to check the guttering to see how much tar paper is in them. If you hire them check every inch of your property to make sure nothing is broken and everything is cleaned up. BHC is a very well run, responsive, personable, respectful, and conscientious business. They come when they say they will, do only what's needed, and provide fair value for their services. The workers are straight forward in their explanations, taking photo evidence of the roofing conditions to share with the home owner. They discuss what needs to be done right away and explain the options available, which is good to have if working with a budget. They follow up with reminders if the roof is coming due for maintainence which is a nice service. Outta sight, outta mind is human nature, so i appreciate the reminders for recoats, etc. The roof is not something to leave to chance, especially with the crazy weather experienced lately ( strong winds, hail, torrential rainfall, etc). I recently had a clogged downspout (from some tree debris) that was pooling water on the roof and BHC was out within a few days of my call. No job is too small when it comes to their customers. I got his name and number from my vet actually so I had to cancel the appointment because water was pouring out of my ceiling which I thought was a roofing issue from my porch. It turned out that it was a heating pipe that split. My daughter told me that the floor upstairs was soaked. I ran upstairs I pulled up the carpet and it was scolding to the touch. There was a lot of steam coming off the floor. I ended up calling the fire company going way over the extreme, but by that point I had already called Dale Rimmer. He ended up getting here as fire company was leaving ( which was 20 minutes ) He did explain on the phone that it was probably just steam coming off the floor. He remained with me at the house until I had somebody able to come out and fix the pipe( the fire company turned off my boiler as it was pouring water into my house). I'm also leaving a review for my Fire company. I've never needed them in all my years living here, but they were downright amazing and the same thing with the police downright amazing. After much review we went with John Breuer. Our only contact was Dustin. We enjoyed his candor and straightforward advice. He offered all the options. Areas where we could consider saving some money, and areas where some additional money would add value. The numbers can get confusing with different contractors, but Dustin's estimate was more straightforward than some. In the end you have to go with your gut. Most of the project went pretty smoothly. Our township was unusually tough. Other neighbors confirmed. Maybe we wouldn't have had the stucco problems in the first place if they had looked as closely when the house was originally built. Most of the work was done within a month, but it was some of the finishing details that took some additional time. At no point did we feel ignored. Dustin kept us up to date. We had a lot done and I think the house was completed in a more timely fashion than some others. Additionally, during the process we had other contractors come to give estimates on various other items... like a new driveway. Each time we received unsolicited compliments on the quality of the work. That was nice to hear from people that know quality work when they see it. Also, the unsolicited compliments from others on the cosmetics were too numerous to count. The landscapers will be finishing up tomorrow and we can't wait for it all to be done. The house looks awesome. It can be scary to embark on a costly project like this. Throughout it all, Dustin and his crew were there. We would easily recommend them.
