Bill is amazing, and I can't recommend BHC highly enough. He came out, took a look at the issue, and then gave me a simple DIY fix. I can't tell you how hard it is to find an honest roofer or contractor who isn't simply trying to upsell you. The fact that Bill was more concerned with being honest and giving me a cost-saving solution than he was with scoring another job really touched me. The moment I need a larger roofing job done, I'll be running back to BHC. If you're considering going with them, run, don't walk! read more

We went with BHC Roofing for total roof replacement. A leaking roof is your worst nightmare, but the whole experience of dealing with BHC roofing can't be smoother. From the back office to their actual project team, every step of the journey has been dealt with efficiency and professionalism. The team arrived at our house at 7 am and they were in the process of cleaning up by 11 am. During the process, there was minimum noise and they were very honest about the roof conditions in terms of what part of the decking needed to be replaced and what looked good. We've been dealing with different contractors in the past several years due to our moving around. BHC Roofing is definitely one of the better contractors. Highly recommended! read more

BHC is a stellar roofer. I live on a south Philly street where neighbors are always doing improvements and intensely vetting contractors before hiring. So when i saw their fleet of trucks decend on my street a few years back, efficiently and respectfully doing a neighbors roof, I decided I was going to jettison my old roofer and hire BHC. BHC is a very well run, responsive, personable, respectful, and conscientious business. They come when they say they will, do only what's needed, and provide fair value for their services. The workers are straight forward in their explanations, taking photo evidence of the roofing conditions to share with the home owner. They discuss what needs to be done right away and explain the options available, which is good to have if working with a budget. They follow up with reminders if the roof is coming due for maintainence which is a nice service. Outta sight, outta mind is human nature, so i appreciate the reminders for recoats, etc. The roof is not something to leave to chance, especially with the crazy weather experienced lately ( strong winds, hail, torrential rainfall, etc). I recently had a clogged downspout (from some tree debris) that was pooling water on the roof and BHC was out within a few days of my call. No job is too small when it comes to their customers. I sincerely appreciate that kind of respect and service. I am so glad I found BHC Roofing! They are a reliable, honest roofing company providing excellent work (at a fair price) which they stand behind. A joke: Q: How did the roofer get such good feedback on his roof installation? A: He nailed it. Thanks, BHC! read more

BHC Roofing was responsive and professional throughout our re-roofing project. The service crew was extremely fast but thorough and completed the work in one day. The cleanup was like "The Cat in the Hat" and they left the site nail and trash free. They were reasonably priced, but provided excellent service. I highly recommend them for any roofing job. read more

We have had an ongoing issue with a gutter along a slightly pitched roof at our house in Center City. It's been a problem on and off for years, with water leaking behind the gutter and into our windows and sometimes ceiling causing damage. After some heavy early Spring rains we had leaking again, which caused more ceiling damage. We called BHC and they sent a team to our house immediately to do a quick caulking repair to stop the leaking until a permanent fix could be done. When Bill came by to discuss how we could achieve a permanent fix, I suggested replacing the roof and gutter hoping that we could find the root cause and just be done with it. But after inspecting the roof and gutter, Bill thought the copper roof was in good shape and there was no reason to replace it. He came up with a solution of fitting and sealing new copper flashing under the edge of the roof and into the gutter. It's been several months with sporadic heavy rains and we've seen no problem...and we didn't have to incur the cost of a new roof at this point. The teams that came to do the initial quick repair and the permanent fix were very professional. They called before they arrived, were courteous, and informed us of exactly what they planned to do and when they were finished. Bill, Melissa, Gina, Jay and everyone who worked with us has been great. I cannot say enough good things about this company. We will and have recommended them to neighbors and friends. read more

I know when it comes to home repairs, it can give you chest pains. But I'm telling you with BHC Roofing all of those pains go away. They give you almost instant quotes with the drone imaging method of diagnosing your roof issues. The cost very reasonable and I know that's the biggest fear with it comes to roof issues. I highly recommend them and their team. I'm really happy I got to work with them. read more

This was the best project I have ever had done on my home. Everyone was so professional and caring from start to finish. They protected my home during roof tear off and cleaned up very well. I could not have asked for a better experience and highly recommend them. I also feel the value was very high and with an official 30 year warranty on my new beautiful roof. Thank you BHC! read more

Just came to clean my neighbors gutters... their blew a lot of the dirt literally onto and into my window without a care. Came onto my property multiple times with equipment without asking despite no trespassing signs. Very unprofessional. Don't hire if you value the relationship with your neighbors. Maybe they are perfect if you hate your neighbor. Ironically wanted roofing work done, and will not be contacting these folks for anything. read more

BHC came to fix a older roof and did a fantastic job. I was so happy with the roof, that I also changed the shingles on my porch and over the dining room window. Their prices were on par with other roofers, but talking and working with Anne made our decision easy. They worked fast, but were very neat and cleaned up the work area thoroughly. I was very happy with the attention to detail! Would definitely recommend to others. read more

BHC employees were prompt, professional, and treated my property with respect. Very satisfied.

It was a pleasure working with them from start to finish. I called to get a quote and got a response that day. The salesperson arrived within a day or two and got me the quote immediately. Once I accepted, the work was completed about 3 weeks later. I was away for the installation day, and when they discovered major wood rot, they called to let me know how much additional costs would be incurred to repair, and they were repaired to replace a joist and the plywood immediately, all in the same day, and I thought the additional price was very reasonable based on the damage they sent me photos of. I was so pleased with their work and happy to write this review for them, they should be rewarded for this level of customer service. read more

BHC was extremely professional throughout the entire roofing process and we highly recommend them. From the get-go they were communicative, transparent, and spent the time to answer our questions in person and via email. For our row home here in Philly / Fairmount for our roof and skylights they were here with a crew of 6+ and 3 trucks and finished in one long day - the entire time I couldn't believe how friendly and courteous they were - I kept asking myself if I was still in Philly ;-) Anyways - I 10/10 recommend BHC. They were neither the cheapest nor the most expensive but we chose them in the end for all of the above mentioned reasons and we are happy we did. read more

I can not say enough about my experience. From my initial request to job completion. I have never been commutated with in such a manner. I never give a 5 star rating since I think no one walk on water. But today I must because this is the best customer service received in a log time. They also did a great job!!!! read more

Very conscientious crew. I have a very old garage and a number of roofers wouldn't even give us a quote. BHC had no problem and was great.

Second time I've used BHC Roofing. From the initial contact to install day, they were friendly and professional. The crew who came to work were very polite and professional. The price quoted was fair. Highly recommend! read more

Friends, not all heroes wear capes. In this case, they wear blue hoodies. We had a terrible leak late on a Saturday night. We knew we had to replace the roof soon, so this was the last straw. BHC was one of several companies we had gotten quotes from a few months prior, before pausing on the project and planning to revisit it in 2023. I send Bob a frantic email late that night, asking if the quote was still valid, AND if they could also tear down the roof deck that came with the house in order to do the full roof. Other companies would not take on the demo as well, and when I priced out options for the demo alone, it was going to cost more than the roof itself. Folks, I woke up on Sunday morning--Easter Sunday, no less--to a note from Bob sharing the the quote still good and confirming they could also demo the roof at a fraction of what other companies said. We spoke first thing on Monday morning, and Bob scheduled the demo and replacement THE VERY NEXT DAY. Luckily, another client had requested they push their job back, so The foreman was able to fit us in the next day. Tuesday morning, six roofers from BHC arrived and got to work. Demo, roof, and cleanup was all done by 5pm. And it was beautifully completed. My neighbors even shared how professional the crew was in terms of keeping the sidewalks as clear and clean as possible during the whole process. It was a seamless process that blew my mind. Look no further -- call these guys immediately for any and all your roofing needs! read more

Bill is very personable and professional in all interactions; the crew got the job done very quick and the pricing/quote was lower than the other company that looked at my gutters. The only gripe I had is that they got the job done so quick, it seems rushed and maybe too quick. When Bill told me they were done and all set, I looked up and noticed the gutter at the front of my house was completely missed and wasn't re-secured. It was in my original photos that I sent them as problematic areas when I first contacted them via yelp; and I also pointed it out during our initial appointment. It was also one of the more obvious ones thats why I noticed it right away. Bill did apologize and rectified the situation right away, and he assured me, that was the only one that they missed. We haven't had any major rain since the work was done so I couldn't really tell but I'll keep an eye out. read more

From start to finish, everything with BHC was top-notch. I had some active leaks and when my skylights were delayed, they came out to seal parts of the roof since rain was coming. They came out again to caulk my old skylights, which began leaking just at the start of the virus shutdown. The roof work was done this week and the crew did a great job. They were respectful with the surrounding property and left the area cleaner than they found it! Anne called to follow up after the rain to be sure there were no leaks. She also called during the day of the work to be sure all was okay. Highly recommended! Many thanks to Jay, Gina and the BHC crew! read more

So glad we went with BHC for the replacement of our roof deck! Great customer service from the very beginning. The estimator gave us a highly detailed quote for the project, along with a price-per-foot estimate for potential joist replacements. He was very helpful and thorough in answering all of our followup questions. The crew was able to complete the job in just two days. This included the repair of our interior parapet wall as well as new framing and a new bitumen roof. They were on-time, handled all the permits, took photos of every stage of the project as they worked, and left the work site immaculately clean when they were done. Their craftsmanship was excellent and the price was very reasonable. read more

BHC did some work on my roof to diagnose and address a leak a couple of days ago (roof collar changed and a couple of shingles replaced along the way). Although I will be on the lookout to ensure the leak is gone (I have no reason to think otherwise), I have to say the experience with BHC has been pleasant every step of the way. Their responsiveness in diagnosing the potential issue, and working to resolve has been pleasant and organized. read more

Love them! Came out today and did a fantastic job cleaning the gutters and our skylights. You don't understand how gross these were. Plus I asked for a roof estimate and they said we don't need to change them until 2-5 years. read more

Last year, after less than a year in our first home, we started noticing random leaks around the edges of our house (window frames, water stains on walls near the windows, etc). We had several roofers come out to repair our drains and gutters (those repairs lasted maybe a few months). Bill was the only roofer willing to turn down gutter/drain repair job, explaining that the source of our problem was related to the flow of water off of the slate portion of our roof. At the time, I thought that he was just trying to up-sell me (our slate looked ok & would cost tens of thousands more than a gutter repair), so I'll admit I ignored him. This year, our leaks got worse & it became clear that Bill was right - our slate roof was in really bad shape! It looked ok but supports in our attic were clearly in disrepair (and had been getting patched for years from prior owners) & our leaks were now in the main areas of the house as to the edges! I reached out to BHC to do the job because of Bill's integrity the year before. I'm SO happy that I did! BHC really took pride in everything that they did to rebuild & replace our roof: removing the roof in sections to ensure that we were water sealed at the end of each workday (important because it's been a rainy mess in Philly); taking the extra time to repair & replace rotted wood (you'll be surprised at how many companies did not mention wood repair & replacement in their estimates - just throw new shingles on top); sweeping my property & and my neighbor's deck each day (our house is a twin); and even painting old vent pipes at the top of my house to match the color scheme of our new shingles. The workers arrived each day like clockwork at 7:45 AM to set up and start by 8:30 AM! They also came each day of the week until the job was done (~9 days). During the process, I got several calls from my neighbors to get BHC's card, but also to compliment the quality of work that was clearly being done! There was a huge storm since getting our new roof and we slept comfortably - not having to hear water dripping or clean up indoor puddles. We had a fairly large job so I'd recommend them highly for big and small roofing projects! read more

The Ceiling is the Roof! BHC was impressive. Quick, professional response to my call. A thorough discussion of the quote and walk through my options: very competitive pricing. I signed the contract and within days my Philly rowhome roof was restored to new. The team was precisely on-time, professional, courteous, and worked rather quietly/ no drama. I would use them in a heartbeat again ((based on their reviews, that should be 15+ years from now :-) )) read more

Excellent work and superior customer service! And very reasonable cost, too, which blows my mind! The whole team at BHC was great, from start to finish. They were responsive, friendly, and very easy to work with. Their care for me as a customer was evident in every interaction and from every team member from the estimator, sales manager, administrative personnel, the operations manager, the crew chief, and each crew member. The finished roof looks fantastic! I have an historic property and got bids from 3 roofers including Kurtz, Philadelphia Quality Roofing, and an independent roofer. BHC impressed me with their professionalism, communication, and cost, so I gave them the job. BHC worked quickly with the Philadelphia Historic Commission to get our choices approved and get the permits for the job. They worked quickly, politely, and the finished product looks fantastic! They replaced a 150 year old slate roof with an asphalt shingle that replicates the historic look and they also replaced the pole gutters with modified bitumin rolled roofing. I'm very happy with the job and highly, highly recommend them! read more

I have called upon Bill and his team twice. Roof and leak issues have plagued my house since before I bought it, for years and years. Nobody has been able to find the issue. The first time, Bill suggested we try replacing just the siding (he had noticed some places where there were gaps and that siding was old and needed replacing regardless). The team came and did an incredible job-- however, the leaks persisted. So he returned. We did more thinking and chatting. The leaks were getting way worse. The nor'easters were hitting us hard this season and we were getting some serious water damage with mold happening in our bedroom ceiling. Bill and Anne worked some magic and managed to have their team come and replace my entire roof (and patio roof) in a day and a half, right before the 2nd storm in a week hit. And now, I am sleeping peacefully. BHC truly saved my house from even WORSE damage. And for a completely reasonable cost! I have already recommended them to folks in need and will continue to call on them whenever I need some roofing and siding help. read more

I tried to scheduled a quote with BHC and was given a date nearly 2 weeks out (in comparison all other roofers I called were able to quote me within 2-3 days). After the 2 weeks, the technician that was supposed to come, did not show up during the scheduled window. After I reached out via email to ask about the visit, I received a call saying essentially "sorry, this doesn't normally happen (no call no show) but I've been very booked with other clients". This is an awful excuse. I simply asked him to keep in touch BEFORE he needed to reschedule and asked when HE would ACTUALLY be available to come by. He told me in a few days, after the snow storm he would try to come out again. On the day of the appointment, he did not show up during the scheduled time AGAIN and I only received a call from the receptionist AFTER the appointment window. The receptionist offered to reschedule again but I declined. Clearly there is no respect for customers time. They do not need my business, they are clearly doing just fine. I only gave them so many chances because of how well they were rated. I ended up getting the work done by someone I had talked to 2 days from the start of my problem. I cannot recommend this company. read more

BHC Roofing did a great job and did it fast. On the first day they made repairs and replaced all the shingles on the shingled portions of the roof of our circa 1860 house. The next day they put a metal standing seam roof on our side porch. Everyone on the team was wonderful. The estimator gave a detailed explanation of the work required with photographs. The office staff always got back to us immediately and were always pleasant and helpful. The contract was extremely detailed so we knew exactly what was going to be done. The roofers were terrific - a highly organized team - watching them work was like watching choreography. They also clean up really well - when BHC leaves, your property is cleaner than it was when they started. And you get photos of the finished work. BHC Roofing gets my highest recommendation! read more

Been meaning for months to write another review for more recent work completed by Bill, Gina and crew. Our condominium association board is thrilled we found BHC Roofing a few years ago. Since then we've said goodbye to dealing with the madness of the various crooks and incompetent roofing companies operating in and around Phila. Here's why BHC should be rated Best of Philly: Great communication; reasonable, fair rates (it's the going rate - they don't give high quote just because they think you'll pay it); honest, a real gentleman; quality materials; no cutting corners, detailed workmanship, on time, easy to get hold of, and most important, his warranty guarantee is honored promptly if there's a problem at a later date. All good!! Bill and crew are the real deal!! Happy to communicate with anyone who wants to reach out for a more detailed referral. read more

BHC Roofing out of Bridgeport (Conshohocken) is a wonderful local roofing company. I contacted Bill thru a friend of mine nearly a year ago to make a repair on a flat roof at my house in Philadelphia. He came out the next day to survey my roof which had a minor leak. At the time I was not ready to make the repair but I told him that I would certainly call when I was ready. The leak got worse so I quickly called BHC Roofing and got the replacement flat roof scheduled. Bill honored the original pricing even though it was from a long time ago. The guys got the job done in just a day and I was sent pictures of the job as it was occurring. Turns out the sheathing of the roof was totally rotted out so thank God they got here when they did or I would have been in big trouble! It was a row home in Philly so they needed to access the roof by going OVER the A Frame roof in the front of the house to get to the back (to avoid going inside). This was not a problem at all for them. They even did some masonry parging at my request (at no charge). If you need a roofing company (residential or commercial I believe) do not hesitate to contact these pros today. Great Service and Great Pricing makes for a great roofing company in my eyes! thanks bill! read more

We hired BHC roofing to fix a few issues with our roof and were very happy with the service. Bob came out to our home for an estimate, and was able to identify the issues using his drone. Great company! I would definitely contact them first if I needed help with my roof again. Everyone I can in contact with was very friendly and professional. Bob initially came out to the house and scoped out my Chimney with his drone and he was really helpful in getting a team out to fix my leak ASAP. His team which consisted of Marty and a different Bob showed up and knocked out the work so quick that it wasn't even an inconvenience. Really nice guys as well. Even interacting with Anne who works in the office was a nice experience. All around a great experience and I would gladly do business with them again. read more

I had a small job with my backyard awning gutter and I spoke to Anne to arrange for Bill to come out and take a look. Anne was able to squeeze me in on a Sunday and kept me informed. Bill arrived and and gave me an honest assessment on what needed to be done and instructed me on how to repair it myself if I chose. His honesty didn't land him a job on this particular Sunday (because I will address the issue myself), but I will definitely give him a shot should future jobs arise in the future. We recently purchased a new home. Within a few weeks of purchasing the house a massive wind storm essentially blew the roof off. We asked neighbors for a recommendation and were told - you can't go wrong with BHC Roofing. I called, Bill was on site within hours and had an estimate (complete with aerial pictures) to me same day. The proposed cost was extremely reasonable - much less than what I expected even though the damage was actually worse - and BHC was on the job two days later. They finished two days after that and the bill exactly matched the estimate. Great work, great communications, great price. I have worked with many roofers (and did roofer work myself many many years ago) and this was by far the best experience of them all. BHC is outstanding and, while I hope to never need them again, they will be my go-to roofer if I do (or if a neighbor does). Thanks BHC. Steve read more

We were having some major issues with water displacement at various points due to poor water run off management from our roofs and gutters, and I got in touch with Bill Henkel who was referred to me because I have an older home built in the 1900s and BHC roofing has the appropriate expertise to address my home's issues. Bill came out and inspected the issues I had raised to him and came up with a comprehensive plan to address them all. The work was scheduled promptly and his crew was very professional and thorough in their work. I actually had two issues that I had discovered with subsequent rainfalls that I had reported to Bill and he again promptly dispatched his crew to address the issues to my satisfaction.
