It is unprofessional to speak so badly and make false claims against a competitor. Here's an exact quote from one rep, Martin. I am omitting the name of the competitor. Up to you if you want to use a company who speaks falsely of other companies. They claim they are the best company in the valley. According to the reviews though, they are not. And BTW, this company never even did a site visit while 2 others did. "We all are scratching our heads as to how XXXXXXX could come up with the inflated production numbers they are showing you on paper. It is known in the industry that their estimates are typically higher than ours or PV2 but this is an exceptionally high estimate given the tree coverage on the property. I understand the allure to proceed with a company showing you the highest production on paper but ultimately if you have 2 other companies telling you you'd need more panels to get close to where Northeast is promising it should be a good sign that it is not our data but theirs that is off. We are sad to see a local company over promising this much to win deals. It is public data (and I am passionate on saving folks from being taken advantage of), so I will share - XXXXXXXX's business is down ~40% this year, perhaps they are desperate to win projects and are resorting to unethical tactics. Valley Solar has grown by 8% this year, one of the only solar companies in the state to grow during the past year which saw a down turnover in solar installations statewide. I had a number of friends and neighbors tell me how great their experience was with Valley Solar. When I contacted them, they responded quickly. One of its owners, Mike, came to the house. We made it clear we were hot-to-trot, and ready to spend real money to go to solar. We chose Valley Solar to install a ground array at our home. The main reason we chose them over other installers in the area was the battery back up system they could install with the array. After contracting with them, we were informed that MA regulations had changed and we could not put the battery back up into the space that was available. Not their fault, but no communication about this until they came to look at site. We needed to have our property surveyed to mark property lines so we would have proper set back. Valley Solar never came back after survey to mark site or show us where array would have to stand. They knew we were very concerned about impacting our view and sight lines. They never addressed this with us in discussing design of system. In fact communication through out project was spotty or non existent. Billing communication is also not clear. Invoices arrive and want payment, but there is no itemization regarding what part of the project is being paid for. To wrap up, the technicians who came and did the work were great, but the administrative team and management is seriously lacking in appropriate and timely communication at some major junctures. I don't normally write reviews, but I just had to for Valley Solar! I had the most amazing experience with this company. From assessment to quote, mapping and preparation, installation, operation and CONTINUED support about really anything I had questions about (even to this day) they were amazing! My system was in operation by April of 2022, I started saving money right away, it was like magic. I had to figure out the app, how things worked, and whole solar broker thing, but when stumped I just reached out to Mike Stiles and he steered me in the right direction ever time. I swear this man must have gotten really sick of me contacting him, (cause yeah I was that lady! Lol) but you'd never know.. he was always happy to hear from me, professional and super helpful. I found Valley Solar and was favorably impressed. These guys have proven to be top notch. They do Quality work, are professional, conscientious and responsive . A few years ago we signed up with the Northampton city program to connect residents with solar companies. Someone came out and looked at our house and property for a couple of minutes and told us that in order solar work we would have to cut down two mature maple trees. We love those trees, one of which provides a shady canopy for the street, and the other shades our deck. And since we don't have air conditioning we really rely on those trees to keep the house cool. It seemed counterproductive to cut down the trees and then have to install A/C. A friend who had dealt with several solar companies for his own house as well as rental properties he owns recommended Valley Solar. Patrick Rondeau--who turns out to be a neighbor of ours--came right out, and very quickly figured out that we did have enough area on our garage roof to produce enough power to more than offset the electricity we were buying from National Grid. We signed the contract in mid December and we're producing power by the third week of February. The crew was friendly and hard-working, and did a great job. The electrical subcontractor, Adams Electric, worked with us and with Patrick to resolve several installation challenges while keeping our costs down. Patrick stopped by regularly to check in with us, and explain the process and answer our questions. Yesterday I ran a production/consumption report to check on how we were doing. Since the system went live we've consumed 189 kilowatt hours, and produced 182. Considering it's winter, and we've had three snowstorms and several cloudy, rainy days, we should have no problem generating more power than we'll need. read more

Over the past two years I have been working on making my rental properties as energy efficient through solar, new heating systems, etc. I have installed five different solar systems with three different companies. For the most recent job, I chose Valley Solar. I really wish I had used them for all five. When you deal with a big company, you always get a salesperson and a project manager as two different people, niether of whom are truly invested in your job. There are always miscommunications, problems, nasty surprises and finger pointing. I had one job get delayed over five months due to an incompetent project manager's repeated mistakes. For my first job, I used a different local company that provied very poor after care and really left me hanging with a complex problem. Working with Valley, you get one point of contact, Patrick, which makes for a very smooth, easy process. If I had to pick one word to describe Patrick it would be "conscientious." Patrick is also quite knowledgable about energy efficiency in general which is an added plus. On a $/kw basis, Valley is competitive but perhaps not the very cheapest you can find. Experience has taught me that solar is not always as straight forward as you think it will be due the large number variables. It is very important to have a reliable person to help you see the job through and who knows how to avoid pitfalls. At this point, I also feel like I know a good amount about Solar and I like that Valley is not rigidly tied to one technology and one brand. There are numerous options which can be valid for a given job. When a company seems to have an "agenda," I always take a step back. If you go with Valley you will get treated fairly, have a quality job and avoid headaches. If you are having the work done on your own personal residence, then I would further caution you to think very carefully about who you sign a contract with and who you want to trust with you roof and you wiring. read more
