The overall experience with the weatherization team was not good. The first crew made the Keystone…read moreCops look organized! I had an inspector come look at the work and it failed. It took a long time to negotiate for a second crew that never showed up. The third crew came and were professional and the work passed, but they still did not seal everything the inspector told them to seal. ON THE OTHER HAND, Dean who came to fix the ceiling crack created by the first crew was awesome. Professional, efficient and communicative, he did GREAT work and deserves a raise!! Ashley Foster who ultimately was the person communicating with me to get this work done was also very professional and helpful. I do not recommend this company though. Only 60% of weatherization work is inspected which means they can do a partial job for full pay and most of the time nobody knows.

My saga began with a letter from the Mayor of Springfield, promoting energy program services…read morethrough "HomeWorks Energy". The evaluation was fine. They hired a local Electrical Company, a roofing company, and an insulation company. The Electrical people tore up and destroyed the attic flooring. They said it would not be replaced. I had the house insulated previously. They made me sign an agreement about damage, BUT that was NOT a free pass to destroy the wood, tossing it all to the far side, then having it covered with insulation. Roof, I pleaded to send someone first, to match roof color, and repair area. Roofer hired a sub-contractor, they never notified me, AND they could not speak English. The "new" roof leaks, wrong color tiles, sagging front area not addressed, NO roof vent. Homeworks sent two people, both promising to to fix the problems. That was over two months ago. Horrible/NO communication. BEWARE!! I TOTALLY REGRET THIS. My house is NOT warmer or better, it is DAMAGED! At age 77, this is not as promised or described.

One section of the roof was sprayed with closed cell foam and the other section with open cell foam. All the foam was painted with fire retardant paint (grey color). Company indicated that any smell should disappear withing 2-3 days (with no action needed) Smell/odor did not go away as previously indicated by the company. As soon as I opened the front door, I could smell a chemical, rotten fish kind of smell that was not there before the spray foam job. Ventilators were brought to the attic and were run for a few days, but the smell situation did not improve With the situation not improving, I decided to collect core samples of the foam (both closed cell and open cell) from different locations and notified the company I was ready to send samples to a lab for testing. That's when they decided to completely remove the foam. They blamed the paint, however, the smell was coming from the foam and you could tell from some of the core samples that the foam never really properly cured The removal process was incredibly messy, making it impossible (likely not healthy) to live in the house during this time. We moved to a nearby hotel but the company only covered half of our total hotel stay (we were outside of the house for two weeks). One major issue with the removal was damage to underside of the roof decking and gable walls. Crawl bars, garden picks, etc. were used to remove the foam and in the process the roof decking and gable walls suffered serious damage. Even some of the nails holding the roof shingles became loose after being hit with some of these tools. Further, some of the HVAC ducts were also damaged The company didn't take responsibility for any of the damage to the roof decking, gable walls or HVAC ducts. I would advise you to stay away from this company. I would also suggest that you strongly consider other insulation materials
