I've know Dr. Andy Kongsakul for a little bit so it was a little awkward going in as a patient, but he really did an amazing job educating and walking me through the health of my eyes. Everyone here is friendly and willing to make your experience pleasant. I wish they had more eyewear options that are more affordable...but they do have a whole glass case with 50% off clearance options and $79 options. Lense coating are pricey but they have so many options. If you are interested in bringing your own frames they will let you put your prescription on them but you have to sign a waiver for any damage. They have weekend appointments and appointments all the way to 6pm which is great due to my work schedule. Also the doctors are so helpful :) read more

Based on so many good reviews, I was willing to travel to Reseda to go here. I called and the girl who answered said "hello?" so I was a bit confused and asked if i had called Valley Optometry and she responds with "sorry I thought you were someone else" and laughs. And then asks what I need help with... I am usually an easy customer but her laughing kind of made me feel disrespected as a customer. When I asked about my insurance and scheduling an appointment, She stated I qualify but my appointment won't be until end of July and sounded a bit annoyed as if she wanted to hang up. To be honest, the late appointment doesn't bother me, seeing that this place has great reviews so I already assumed for new patients, it'll be hard to get an early appointment. As soon as I told her that I would have to think about it since i need to get my eyes checked ASAP, she quickly responded "okay then have a good day!" and hung up. I hope they have more than one receptionist.. I am super disappointed because I was excited I found an eyecare center that had great reviews and everyone seemed to like the doctors... The first impression is always the receptionist and when this happens, it just makes me feel like this place is unprofessional. Which I am sure is not the case. I really hope this was a one time thing and i just got unlucky, but I am sad I won't get to go here. read more

This is THE place! I was looking for somewhere in my neighborhood so that I didn't have to drive to Hollywood - again... I found it right in Reseda. It is hard to imagine any eye care center being better than Valley Optometry. Not only is Dr. K a terrific optometrist, he's also a great guy. If he's not available you're in capable hands with Dr. Shinn. Their equipment is state of the art, they're professional, caring, detailed and FAST! The office staff is the BEST led by Thelma and Diana. I'm tough to please, especially when it comes to my vision, and I had difficult and specific requests with several test drives and do-overs. To start with I brought in my own frames which instantly made it a custom job. This was my first trip to Bifocal-land. I tried progressive lenses and couldn't deal with them, then we went to blended bifocals and they weren't working either. Finally, back to traditional bifocals. Then began a few months of a VERY problematic insurance carrier's lab not being able to get the prescription right. If only I'd been able to use the lab Valley Optometry works with... None of that was remotely the fault of Dr. K's gang, but they fought hard and went above and beyond with the insurance company until things were right. I love my new glasses and get compliments on them daily and it's all because of Valley Optometry Eyecare Center. I can't answer for their selection of frames - I brought my own and it's a small office with limited display space - but wherever you do get your frames, they will go the extra mile to be sure they fit and are properly adjusted. Even if you don't have insurance their prices are very affordable. Did I mention that Valley Optometry Eyecare Center is the place to go? :) read more

Super friendly staff, great service, excellent doctor. You never feel rushed, pushed aside or oversold. And I like the email reminders for appointments. As someone self-insured, I don't pay for eyeball insurance, but their rates are very affordable for the exam, frames and lenses, and you get a discount if you have Blue Cross medical. I came here yesterday and I have to say Dr. K is the most knowledgable optometrist I have ever gone to. I had a very thorough examination. He answered all of my questions and diagnosed a few eye issues I had that previous doctors had missed. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable as well. The only reason I took 1 star off is because of their prices. They are way more expensive compared to the deals I have received from other doctors. I'll continue going to him for future visits but will probably be purchasing my glasses and contacts elsewhere. read more

I got my very first eye exam last year with Dr. K. Before my appt. they called and advised me to make sure someone drives me since they were going to dilate my pupils (ewwww). I am glad they told me because it was my first exam and I would have went alone. Dr. K. gave me a step by step process of what tests he was going to run and the purpose for each test. I was kind of nervous since I had to end up getting glasses but use them only when I drive (i barely use them ). Even though I was nervous they made it a pleasant experience for me. The front desk was also kind and took their time to help me pick my glasses. I recommend that you pick your glasses next day since your can not see clearly after the dilation and you might hate your glasses. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I love it here. It's so clean and they are very thorough in their evaluation of your eyes. Everyone who works here is so easy to chat with, from the front office to the doctors. It feels like a very positive, happy place. Dr. Shin is hilarious. I've been coming to her for years and she always has really funny stories to share. They've also always been very helpful up front when it comes to picking out frames and explaining my options. Thelma has helped me the past couple years. I ask for her opinion a lot and she's honest-- those frames look really good, I don't think these are right for you, these are reliable and classic but not bold or exciting, etc. I NEED this kind of feedback so I love that she tells me like it is (when I ask). I pay attention and can say with certainty that the recommendations are never based on the price of the frame, too. She will recommend a less expensive frame just as highly as a designer one if it looks good. I appreciate the honest feedback because glasses are a huge commitment!
