This place has become horrible in the quality of materials they use to make the glasses as well as customer service. I paid almost twice as much as I did 2 years ago to have computer glasses made. They took 3 weeks to come back from the place that makes them!!! 3 weeks!! They did not add the blue light filter for computer which I specifically requested and paid for and the glasses were made of this awful plastic material which is probably the cheapest available. I could hardly see my computer and was getting headaches from straining my eyes with the terrible glasses they made. I had to go somewhere else to get another pair and pay again. So I WASTED MY MONEY MISERABLY AT THIS PLACE! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK! read more

I prefer to only leave positive reviews on Yelp, unfortunately, my recent experience with Valley Eyes Optical was very disappointing. My mom wanted to buy me a very nice pair of sunglasses as a thank you gift even though I felt they were way more than she should spend. We purchased the sunglasses for $300 and a few days later, one of the side panels of the frame had a plastic piece that was coming loose. It was upsetting to spend that amount of money and have it immediately coming apart. We went back to the store and the owner said she had someone who would fix it for us and to come back for the sunglasses in three days. Well, they did fix them--with superglue--and I might have been okay with that except you could see where they had gotten messy with the glue and the side panel of the frame showed some of the glue. I left two voicemails at the store asking them to set it right by ordering us a new pair or discounting the price because of the way things turned out. Crickets! Have never heard a word from the owner. I forgot to mention, my mom had just purchased 3 pairs of prescription glasses from them the week before, so you would have thought they would care more about keeping our business. Took my eye exam. Got a new prescription for my progressive lenses. Optician didn't check location to place the transition. Drove me crazy. The transition was too high and in my line of sight all the time. Staff was pleasant enough but their selection of frames was limited. Either super cheap or far too expensive. I've worn Oakley's for years. Don't mind spending a little extra because they stand up to everything I throw at them. Not an option at this office. Although I live in Woodland Hills, I decided to go back to my Optometrist on the west side after this experience. read more

I have been here many times in the past and have always felt that Valley Eyes Optical jas great service and prices. However after my most recent visit here, I can no longer recommend Valley Eyes Optical and will be taking my prescriptions elsewhere. I brought a frame from outside as I feel overwhelmed with the disorganized selection offered. Everything went well and I picked up my glasses a few days later. After wearing my glasses for two days, the right lens popped out. I had to return to get them fixed and was told that this frame was not designed for lenses. If I had been told this before I had spent $100, I would have had no problem with changing the frame. Instead I left unhappy and disappointed. I can not recommend Valley Eyes Optical. read more

Been coming here for years and the owners have always been so kind and helpful to me. Story time - I momentarily lost my eyesight years ago and during my healing process i needed new glasses often. I found them in my local Penny saver and they helped me get new glasses each month at an affordable rate for a 22 y/o in college. They were so great to me and I am very grateful for how open and welcoming they were. now my entire family, most of my friends, and all my fellow 4 eyed coworkers all come here! I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Firstly, the owners are the nicest and cutest people ever. They are extremely honest and straightforward about everything, always patiently answer all of my annoying questions and are always willing to work with me to get my glasses done when I need them. Secondly, and most importantly, they do AMAZING work at ridiculously affordable prices. I unfortunately am very clumsy and break my glasses all the time, but no matter where I am I refuse to go anywhere else to get my glasses fixed. I got my Oakley light-weight frameless glasses from Lenscrafters a couple year ago, it cost me almost $400 with everything, but I love it. Last month, one of the screw was lost, and Lenscrafters is not able to fix it, I tried several Lenscrafters store, they are useless, they only sell you a new pair, no one in the valley is able to fix. By chance, I went to Valley Eyes, Jack is able to fix it instead of throwing it away. They are the BEST eye glasses store in the valley, much better than these useless chain store like Lenscrafters. I recently had cornea replacement surgery on both eyes and no longer needed prescription glasses. My favorite pair of Oakley sunglasses had prescription lenses. I had purchased a pair of nonprescription replacement lenses from Amazon. I visited this place prepared to pay for them to install the new lenses. They were very nice and offered to replace them for free. The gentleman, I believe he was the owner, was very nice. I would recommend this business to all my family and friends. If you're going somewhere else to get your glasses/lenses, you're just wasting your money. They use identical materials as places like LensCrafters, and they don't upcharge you for bullshit like coatings that are already on the lenses anyway. They work fast, and have a massive selection of frames, from very inexpensive, to high end designer ones. I've tried saving money and time by buying some online- mistake. My glasses frame broke and I did not have a back up pair. As they are progressive glasses I could not order and get new ones on the spot. I entered Valley Eyes Optical and asked if they can fix the broken frame? I did not buy the glasses with them. They said they could and it would needs a special little part. When I asked how much it will cost their answer was "nothing". I waited for few minutes and they not only fixed the frame but also tighten the screws and cleaned the glasses which looked like new. I'd consider myself a regular customer of theirs for years, but I feel like recently their customer service has changed so I thought I'd update my review. Actually it's specific to one person, it's a 3 person shop (used to be only 2, husband and wife) and they added another girl there I believe a year ago. The man in charge there is great, always friendly and his craftsmanship is quality. The girl is also friendly and always helpful as well. But the wife, she's a different story. Everytime I visit there to get prescriptions, she does not even say hello, just stares at me when I enter. While when other customers come she greets them. I'd come here more often but not anymore, sorry. These days I spend my money where customer service is number one. You used to be a great place, sadly that has changed. read more

Please, no one tell these people how bad they are at math!!! So, a friend of mine ended up here and said it was an awesome place to get glasses and I decided to check it out (my regular eyeglass place is only a block away, so it was worth it to drive over there and see what they had - I figured if I came up empty, I could always head down the street). Now, I don't know how this happened, but I asked what the price range on their frames was, and they said from around $60 to a couple hundred dollars (they do have legitimate designer frames - as opposed to those with a fancy french-sounding name from an unknown company). Lenses would be an additional $20 for standard plastic. Still not sure if I'd buy anything, I gravitated towards the $60 case. Suddenly, there was a special, and the frames were only $30 - for any pair in the entire case. Naturally this piqued my interest. Depending on which frame(s) I picked, those that would require high index plastic (it makes strong prescription lenses thinner) lenses would cost an extra $10. It still sounded good to me. The woman who was showing me frames was EXTRAORDINARILY patient with me, even making note of the styles I selected, and offering suggestions of her own which turned out to be not only very much to my taste, but also ended up being two of the pairs I purchased. All told I picked out four frames, two for sunglasses and two for regular glasses, and somehow my total was only $140! Now, just when you think it can't get any better... it does!! They asked if having them ready by Mon or Tues was acceptable and I said that I couldn't come back until next weekend, so not to rush. Well, then they asked if I could come back at 3 (it was now approximately 11:15 a.m.). I had to be downtown at 4 so I said 3 would be a stretch, let's just do next weekend. They said they'd see what they could do, and I left fully prepared to wait until next week for my new glasses. Well, a little before 1pm, I got a call - my glasses were ready!!! ALL FOUR PAIR!! So, in case you didn't follow, let me recap: 4 pair of Rx glasses (2 w/ tint, 2 w/ high index plastic), frames AND lenses for $140, ready in less than two hours. If you don't buy you're glasses here, I'm sorry, but you're just stupid. read more

I'm hesitant to write a great review because I want to keep this place all to myself. Valley Eyes Optical by definition is a true LA gem. It is cheap, prompt, honest and owned by an actual mama/papa. Today I had taken in vintage Oliver Peeps eyeglasses which I thought would be pricey to replace. Gramps took my Peeps, popped out the lens and put in new brown lens. These "new" sunglasses came at the cost of $25 and 10 minutes of my time. Oh - I see how it is. Trying to impress me with your craftmanship, prompt services and reasonable prices. You know what? I decided to test them. I presented a second pair of Polarized Ray Bans, broken at the bridge. He looked at it & said he could repair it. How much? $5 bucks. Yeah I said it. Cheaper than a Subway $5 foot-long or McDonalds Happy Meal. Apparently this place likes to one-up themselves. Now I have no choice but to write a great review. Show-offs. For me, this is as good as it gets, I am super cheap when it comes to things like glasses. (I think the whole retail optical industry is way overpriced). So I was really stressing trying to find a coupon/Groupon/discount/deal to replace my recently broken prescription frames. The frames were "unrepairable" and I could not find any deal that would net me a new pair for less then $200 out of pocket. Until I found Valley Eyes Optical. I called and spoke to the sweet "Heigel" and then drove the ten minutes from my house to their shop on Ventura Blvd - and I walked out the door 15 minutes later with my lenses mounted in a perfectly fine new frame - for $20!! Wow, all I can say is - I have found my new eyeglass retailer for life. Now be aware, they are not an "Optometrist." They do not do eye exams. But if you take your current prescription to them they will make your lenses on the spot (they have a lab right in the store) and they will mount them in your choice of frame. They have the designer frames available at low discount prices - but they also have great super cheap frames for Scrooges like me. I even asked about "progressive lenses" and Heigel said they make those for only $70 (at least that is what she quoted me). All in all, I could not be happier about my replacement frames. This store was fantastic! The two owners, husband and wife duo were so lovely. I bought a pair of designer frames from Anthropologie and went to their store to try to have prescription sunglasses lens put in them. Costco wouldn't touch them, Lens Crafters wanted over $500, Wizard of Eyes wanted just under $500, but Valley Eyes put in dark gray tint, polarized, progressives lens in my cute glasses for $130. I was so thrilled. My new stylish glasses were done in about three days. I love them. I look forward in returning to Valley Eyes and hope all of you will too! read more

Was thinking about Costco but couldn't wait 10 days for my glasses. I looked around Yelp and found Valley Eyes Optical. Since they had great reviews I thought I would try them. Well, the reviews are right! They couple that own this place are as nice and helpful as written. They have a wide range of glasses and a lab on premise. It took a few days since I needed progressive with anti-reflective, but they were ready when promised. No run around or bait and switch. I totally recommend this place.
