Dr. Regan is a life saver! I found my families new optometrist. Unbeknownst to him, my son broke his glasses playing sports but the glasses didn't fall apart until the next day on a Friday morning. I remembered someone telling me about this optometrist so I rushed to his office Friday morning and he was able to see me son after school and we had the glasses before school started the next week. AND the price was beyond reasonable without using my insurance because my son wasn't due for a new pair. And on top of meeting all of our needs in a rushed fashion, he has to be the best optometrist in checking my son's vision and health of his eyes. He does it all!!! They even have a form that you have to sign just in case you try to dispute with credit card company. I assuming it happens here a lot! DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE. Let me start my saying that I have only come to this office for my prescription. I have not purchased glasses here. That being said, they will try and get you to purchase glasses- they discount the eye exam if you do. However, I did not feel that they were overly pushy when trying to make the sale. I refused about twice and they let it go. This is the only place I come to renew my vision prescription. Dr Sol makes me feel comfportable and takes time to answer any questions. He does not rush you through the exam-even if you take forever to find your "sweet spot", like i do. I have gone to a few other places, closer to my house, and I have returned to Dr Sol. Its easy to walk-in and been seen by the doctor and you feel that you are getting undivided, proper eye care. read more

I scheduled an appointment the day before and was able to get it next morning. There is ample parking in the front but it is shared with other businesses. The staff is attentive and welcoming. I was there for a contact lens fitting. I got lasik awhile back so it was hard to find a lens with the correct BC that fit me. Dr. Sol was informative throughout the whole process and let me try on several base curves before we found the perfect fit. I highly recommend Dr. Sol for your contact lens needs. I ordered an annual supply through him with acuvue and am currently awaiting the rebate that comes with it via mail. The contacts were currently on back order so he was able to get me a some samples that will last me for awhile until they come in. Thought this family owned business would be great, due to prices but no. Took my shades to be prescribed and polarized, yet it took a month to be ready. Then i brought my regular glasses to be adjusted, I'm told it's sent out to adjust; odd but I gave it a try. I was told it would take a day prior to service. I came in another day to send them out for adjusting, I'm told a week, plus a $20 fee. Never received a call they're ready, I had to go myself 3 weeks later to pick them up. They weren't ever adjusted! Wasted $20 for nothing. Poor communication, delay in orders, never going there again. read more

I am reviewing this place again. First visit was fine. However, I spent over $200 on a paid of Ray bans which is too much for me. When I went to pick them up, he just handed them to me. I had to say, well can I try them on first? So I did and they were falling off of my face. It seemed to be an inconvenience for him to fit the glasses on my face. About a week later, my glasses accident got stepped on. I was so upset, I went there hoping he could fix them. He told me that it is not fixable and I would have to purchase another pair. I was hesitant but I trusted they couldn't be fixed. I love the frames so much I bought another and used my credit card. When the new ones came in, I knocked on the door since he keeps it locked. And he just handed me the glasses through the door...I said- I need them fitted, last time they fell off. Again, another inconvenience for him. He let me in and adjusted the frames.. a few times until I felt they weren't crooked. They were crooked. And falling off my face. I just dealt with it since I am too busy to keep going to this place for him to not really care about the issues I am having with the glasses he provided for me. As a few months past, my lenses got scratched on the new pair. I didn't want to go back to him since he never seemed welcoming or helpful after my last few visits- I ended up bringing both pairs of glasses to Costco with me and asked if he could switch the lenses. I explained one pair is broken. HE TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A BAD SCREW. HE FIXED THEM IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!!!!! THIS GUY AT F Y EYE IS THE BIGGEST LIAR. I cannot believe he told me they were not fixable and got me to spend more money on the same pair of frames. So I now have two frames that WORK FINE. Very good service, good deal with the Groupon, would recommend them to friends. They have some lower priced frames which I could have gotten free with the groupon but of course the nicer frames I chose for myself were $350 so only $150 after groupon, not bad and then my high astigmatism lenses were pretty reasonable vs. my previous eye Doc. Don't really think it gets better than this, everyone was nice, patient, good service overall. Note to update their email address on their site, I tried contacting by email and it bounced, they are psychic though as they called me the next morning to let me know my glasses arrived. I found FY Eye through a Groupon deal so I decided to try it out as a second opinion. I went in and Corinna (hope I spelled her name correctly) checked me in and gave me the standard paperwork to fill out. Then came Dr. Sol Regwan who at first appeared serious but was actually very amicable. What I was particularly pleased with was how thorough he was with my eye exam. He definitely clearly explained what I wanted to know and offered adequate solutions. When it came to choosing my glasses, even though it's tough for me to find an adequate frame because of my "wide" face, I was able to find a couple of very nice frames all of which were priced just right for my taste. Place is very clean and quiet. Gentleman who greeted me made me a little uncomfortable as he continued to insist on me returning 20 minutes later closer to my appointment time. I personally like to arrive to my destination timely and I figured I'd look at their frames in the time being. I was then handed paperwork from the same man. After he hovered over me for about 5 minutes I told him I would be taking some time as I was trying to read through all the info. Once paperwork was finished I got to see doctor. He was very nice and thorough through the entire process. Was very helpful and overall I enjoyed my experience with him. I purchased a LivingSocial coupon: $50, and you get an eye exam plus $200 off your purchase of eye wear. Sounded like a good deal, so I bought 2, one for me, one for my girlfriend. First let me say that Dr Regwan and his staff was very courteous and the exam portion was well worth the $50. However, the $200 discount off eyewear is a joke. They tell you after the eye exam that the way the deal works is that you have to pick from the frames that range anywhere from $199 to $359, and then also pay for the lenses, anywhere from $109 to $159. I found some 'designer' frames that were $279, and opted for the more expensive lenses, which brought my total to $238 for the glasses. Not exactly a screamin' deal, but I'm fine with it. Here's where I have a problem. I am not ok with the pricing on my girlfriend's glasses. They were supposedly 'designer' frames which turned out to be the Dr's own brand, and priced like mine at $279, which again, after paying for the lenses and applying my $200 off, still came to $238. A week after my girlfriend picked up her glasses, we went to their website and tada, the same frames are available for $99 including the lenses. No coupon needed, just $99. That's over $350 difference in pricing from their in-store price when you add the $279 frames and the $100 or more lenses. I emailed and inquired why the pricing was so different and received a reply stating that the website was a new promotion and it didn't exist the week before. I understand that promotions change from time to time, but clearly if they can sell them for $99 WITH lenses, they were overpriced at $279 with NO lenses. Sure they can get away with it by claiming it's a new promotion, but that's no way to generate return business or to generate good word of mouth. Lesson learned - research the frames online and see what other places are pricing them at. Even my frames are available considerably less expensive elsewhere. In summary - nice enough people, initially happy with customer service, and then ultimately disappointed and feel ripped off. Edit: it's amazing how many "liars" go to his business and then choose to post on Yelp. Anyone who posts a negative review is apparently a sociopath or a liar! Poor dr Segwan. read more

What a terrible experience! My girlfriend and I came into this store after buying a LivingSocial deal because her and I both needed glasses. The eye exam went well and Dr. Regwan was helpful during that process. I realize after the exam while looking for glasses that the discount on the glasses was simply discounting the exorbitant amount that the glasses were marked up. I have purchased many glasses/sunglasses over the past 25+ years, and I have never seen glasses priced so high. I ended up not even purchasing myself a pair, took my prescription, and found the same glasses for half the price even after the LivingSocial discount. My girlfriend ended up buying some glasses, we tried multiple times to call the office to see when her glasses were going to arrive, even reaching this office over the phone is difficult, nobody picked up. She came in two weeks later to pick her glasses up, and she was treated horribly. The Dr. didn't even offer for her to try them on when she picked them up to make sure they fit, and she wasn't treated well at the location. She was a paying customer but felt like a nuisance to the Dr. There's a certain level of respect and courtesy you should respect from a business, and quite frankly I didn't see any element of it here at FY Eye. read more

This place is a high-end overpriced glasses store. The only reason why I even bothered with them was because I had an Amazon's Local voucher. $47 and it covered an eye exam and $225 towards frames. My appointment was at 10:30 am but due to the fact that they're located in in the middle of nowhere, Tarzana, I was running late. When I was 15 minutes late they even called me to ask if I was still going. I told them I was but they said that they couldn't take me anymore. Instead they re-scheduled me for the next open slot, 1pm. I hung out in the Valley until then to find out that they don't take people at 1pm who use the Amazon voucher, which makes no sense because they were the ones who re-scheduled the appointment for me. Also, they gave me that opening slot as an option when I initially made my appointment. Obviously it didn't matter to them that I had wasted my entire morning because their solution was for me to come back another day. Before they were even able to throw dates as options I walked out of their office. For anyone out there who has the Amazon's voucher... I feel for you. My best advice is to go ahead anyway, if you already purchased the coupon, and hope the stars are aligned in your favor. If you are thinking about buying the coupon... DON'T! That is the best thing you can do for yourself. This business doesn't care about the people as patients. They care about them as customers $$$. They're only there to sell you their ugly and limited selection of glasses. Just avoid this place. && SOL of the Practice is going around replying to each 1.star Customer Review in insulting tone/ill-spirits + making fun of people*s inconvenient experiences w. the office. I hate to do this because Dr. Regwan himself was absolutely wonderful...but his staff is a disaster. My bf and I got a Living Social deal for an eye exam and frames a few months ago...I had never been to an optometrist and had no idea what to expect. We live in Hollywood, so the only reason we drove this far is because of the LS deal. The exam was great. Dr. Regwan really took his time to explain everything in great detail, he was friendly and patient and gentle. I was very pleased and genuinely felt like I was in really good hands. We were told our glasses would be ready for pickup in 5 days. After a week we called and spoke to someone very rude. We were told the glasses weren't in yet. So we waited a few more days and called again. Same thing. Finally, after two weeks and some already budding frustration, the glasses were there, though nobody called to notify us. We went in and everything was great. My bf even spoke to Dr. Regwan about the delay and unprofessional attitude of his staff, and Dr. Regwan acknowledged and apologized. Recently I realized I was wearing my glasses a lot more than I thought I would and decided to get contacts. I didn't feel like driving back out to Tarzana and made an appointment with Costco. Costco told me they would charge me less if I had had an eye exam within 6 months and so I called up Dr Regwan and requested he fax my prescription over to them. He answered himself and said the fax machine was broken and would be repaired later that day...if not, Monday. I asked if they could scan it. He simply said no. Since I didn't want to drive 30 miles to pick it up, and my appointment at Costco was for the following day, I rescheduled. Long story short, I ended up having to reschedule my Costco appointment 4 times, wait almost 2 weeks and call several times before they finally faxed the prescription. In that time frame Costco also called them on multiple occasions, to no avail. They finally said they mailed the prescription to me, which they never did cause it hasn't shown up to this day. It took an angry phone call to Dr. Regwan personally to get the prescription faxed. I was so frustrated by all of the wasted time and energy and dealing with this that I simply can't recommend anyone go here. So, the two stars are only for Dr Regwan himself, because he's a great optometrist. But he could really benefit from a competent staff. And a functioning fax machine. read more

I just had a very interesting conversation with this office. I had planned on purchasing the groupon for a contact lens appointment, since the coupon says that it can only be used for services (it doesn't say anywhere that the services are restricted, in any way). I thought I would give this office a try. But then I noticed the mixed reviews, and how there were many people claiming that the groupon was misleading....well, I must say I am so happy I read those reviews. This coupon is in fact very misleading. When I was making my appointment, I decided to be very clear about what I wanted: A contact lens appointment, so that I could get a prescription that I would take to Costco, as their prices are excellent on contacts. Well, glad I asked! The guy I was talking to proceeded to tell me that the groupon was NOT good for a contact lens appointment, only a glasses appointment. WHAT?!? He then tried to tell me that I couldn't apply the coupon to contact lenses...I repeated AGAIN that I didn't want to get contact lenses, I wanted a prescription....yeah-no. So, this guy was totally going to let me buy the groupon, knowing that I wanted it for the contact lens prescription. And then I am sure he would say 'oops, sorry, can't use it" once I came in. I told him that this is very misleading, and he had nothing to say. So, I will NOT be a new customer to this office. Wow, just read this office's response to my review....lol. Let me paste the coupon onto this review: "Yelp Deals $50 for $95 Certificate at F.Y.Eye Optometry CenterFacebook Twitter Promotion lasts for 1 year from date of purchase. " So, again, I say this place is deceptive. The above coupons says specifically that the coupon can be used for 'services'. No where does it say anything about $50 and $225 in glasses, so I am not quite sure what he is talking about. He keeps putting the word customer in quotation marks, which is odd...not sure what he trying to imply. Obviously, I am NOT a customer. And the quotation marks look as if he is trying to be a smart a*s for some reason. Which pretty much shows how unprofessional he is. Rather than address the fact that the above coupon is deceptive, he makes points that do not reflect the issues I presented. This is a common practice called deversion. Keep your attention away from the point with distractions. They have a coupon, which you can buy for $50, that is supposed to be applicable to services. Not eye glass services. Not $225 in product. Services. That should either include all services (duh) OR specifically say "does not include lens exam services" (Notice, BTW, that this is the proper use for quotion marks). *4/26/12 My final response to this whole thing. They are correct, I did write groupon. But when I spoke with him on the phone, I read the coupon to him, and exactly what it said. I specifically told him I was calling in reference to the Yelp coupon. I could not be more clear. So, if I mistakenly said groupon instead of coupon, but was clear about what I was calling about, and what I wanted, I would think that they would know what specials they are running. I stated exactly what I wanted. I told him on the phone that I thought what he was telling me was either incorrect, or that the ad was misleading. I used those exact words. He insisted that I was misunderstanding the ad - which I read to him, and is pasted above. I do not work for a competitor of his. That is preposterous. I suppose that is their answer to any other complaints on this site, directed towards them. There are several poor reviews, and from what I have read from those reviews, it appears as if this office tries to bribe people to remove their bad reviews, as many one star reviews, have disappeared. I now wonder more about the positive reviews. Are they placed by their workers and friends? Whatever. One other thing; the fact that this office has chosen to insult me by saying I need therapy because I am dissatisfied with their deceptive practices, in fact gives further weight to my claim that they are highly unprofessional. What respectful doctors office would make such an inflammatory claim about someone? In both of their posts, they are insulting, belittling, and derogatory. They would have had my business and I would have returned for more eye Exams but they decided to Rip me off, What nerves. I went here on a Amazon Locals deal, $49 for eye exam and $225 towards new glasses. The Dr. was really nice ill give him that much but honestly, it feels way overpriced. The selection of men's frames is really small. Thank God I found the pair I did. It was literally the only pair I liked after looking for 30min through the tiny men's frames selection. I got transitions as well and needed better lenses as my vision isn't the greatest. In the end I paid $340+! Had I not had the $225 off I'd be paying a small fortune for a pair of glasses! Also, it took 3 weeks for them to be ready! The most I've waited for glasses is a week, maybe 1 1/2wks. As I said, the Doc is nice as is the cute receptionist girl but they need better selection of frames and better prices.
