I have been receiving numerous text messages, emails and phone calls over the past couple of weeks saying that they have pre booked an appointment for me and I should call to confirm! Obviously, I did not call back because I do not understand why they should book an appointment for me without my knowledge and inconvenience me like that! Yesterday, they called again and I explained explicitly and clearly that I am not in need of an appointment. I thought that's it! Today, I just received a text saying "We missed you! Reschedule..." I've returned here for a few years and the service had been great. Today unfortunately, I was lied to about my eye conditions heavily attempting to sell me on multiple glasses I do not need. This was the first time I've had an eye exam by an optometrist trying to coax me into believing my eyes are unable to focus naturally.. more closely to someone 20 years older than my age. I asked if this test is aimed to purposely have me choose between two extremely blurry letter sets that I could not read. She confirms it is, and proceeds to tell me how my eyes are unable to focus and how unhealthy and abnormal my eye focus ability is before preying on me to try and get special readers and adjusting my prescription to fit that bill. I appreciate the previous years of service but I'm not obligated to buy frames from this store. I came in only for contact prescriptions. read more

Everyone at this office was truly wonderful--except for Andy Kongsakul. Unfortunately, my experience with him was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share it. I've worn glasses my entire life but recently decided to try contact lenses for the first time. Since I'm new to the process, I was recommended to start with trial lenses. That made sense to me--try before committing to a full supply. However, after receiving the trial lenses, Andy immediately sent me to the front desk to order a few months-long supply. From my understanding, the trial period is meant to determine whether the lenses fit and feel right before making a purchase. But that didn't seem to matter in this case. I realized the same day that the lenses didn't fit properly and contacted the office to cancel the order. I was told that once processed, the order couldn't be canceled. My only options were to either keep ill-fitting contacts or repeatedly return for replacements until something worked. This felt like a pushy, inflexible approach that prioritized sales over patient care. Eventually, the contacts order was canceled and I received a refund, which I appreciated. However, the insurance claim had already been processed, meaning I can't use my vision benefits again until next year. That's incredibly frustrating for a product I never got to use or receive. It's really unfortunate, because aside from this experience, everyone else at the office was fantastic. The front desk staff, Dr. Linda, and Dr. Gina were all kind, professional, and helpful. If you go to this clinic, you'll likely receive excellent care--just be cautious about dealing with Andy Kongsakul. Personally I won't be returning here. read more

If you love to get nickeled and dimed and wasting your time, this is the place for you! This mostly applies to the front staff that really don't care about you as a patient, value your time or money. The actual optometrist are fine - knowledgeable and friendly. The front staff however do not pay attention to detail, have a sense that patients are bothersome and are only helpful to their advantage. I've been here multiple times for my contacts, exams and glasses but my most recent visit was the cherry on top. I thought I purchased a year's worth of contacts along with my glasses, but for some reason there was a communication breakdown. If the staff that i was chatting with was friendly and tried to explain the cost breakdown (which was absurd - taking into account that my total of 1300 did not include contacts), I would have left feeling a bit more confident in my next visit, but I will definitely be looking for other optometrists to go to, who actually value their patients money and time. I'm not sure why the optometrist, the front staff and I would have discussed ordering my Oasis Acuve, charge me for a contact lense exam and then not order them, when I fully confirmed I needed them. read more

Came here to get a contact lens eye exam - it has been a while since I've had one and my prescription needed to be updated. I made an appointment at this location since they are close to home and they had great reviews. I can see why! My wait time wasn't long and everyone was super friendly. I was impressed by the updated technology used to photograph my retinas- but I'm not sure if that's because it has been a while since I've had an exam. Nevertheless, the dr and staff were great and very attentive. They explained everything in great detail and I was in and out of there relatively quick. I have been going here for over a year now after looking for a new optometrist for so long. It was very easy and simple to get started here and I love that they have weekend appointments. The place is easy to find and there is usually plenty of parking in their lot or on the street. The staff is very nice and helpful. The Optometrists are great and very informative. The office is very clean and modern. They have a great selection of frames. The appointments always go smoothly and the process to get any frames/contacts is quick and simple. I went in for my very first eye appointment ever and had such a pleasant experience. Right from the start the front desk staff was very kind and quick and guided me through my intake process. Dr. Andy K was also very nice, patient, and attentive. He evaluated my eye health and explained everything to me. Dr Andy & Dr Fields are great. They are both professional, knowledgeable & accommodating. The problem that I'm having is that they used to be warm & sincere, now that they got bigger, not so much. Feels like the focused is (MUCH MUCH) more on profit now instead of care. Sad. I used to love coming here. I still go because it's near my house so it's convenient definitely not as happy as i used to be in this place. If you think this optometry office is good, you're wrong. I went in for a simple eye exam and came out with the wrong prescription and money down the drain. I waited for an unreasonable amount of time nobody was there. Scheduling is a disaster. The equipment is not up to snuff, and then on top of that they tried to sell me on another brand of contact lenses (for kickbacks). Not acceptable. Buy better equipment and do your job correctly. It was rude customer service, and suck ( stupid) appointment system. I made appointment for my kids a year ahead. Their appointment was Jan 10th. 2024. They reminded appointments by texting on Dec 20th, 2023 around 2:21pm. I DID text YES to keep my appointment at 3: 37pm. ( SAME DAY) NEXT DAY, they texted me back" Hi, due to scheduling, that appointment time is not available. Does the following week, the 17th at the same time, 2:00pm, work?" They canceled my appointment without calling and they filled up my spots to someone whoever just called them. This is false statement because I responded YES ( in 1.5 hours), they still canceled my appointment. They stated "PLEASE REPLY BY TODAY, OTHERWISE THIS APPOINTMENT WILL BE CANCELED** Thank you!" They lost 6 customers who has been coming to Dr. ANDY FOR 12 YEARS BECAUSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WEIR AND STUPID APPOINTMENT SYSTEM. read more

I always go to my usual eyewear store in LA, and this is the first time I give a try to this place. I'm pretty sure a doctor would be great here. Because, the store is really close to my home, I just decided to walk there. I went to the place without paying attention when I search on Yelp that they take custom by appointment only. It might be my fault to walk-in without making an appointment or may be my appearance with clothing that looks too much casual or something else, that might make an employees feel uncomfortable. When the person at the reception desk (in the glasses shop side) response to me while another reception on the phone with another customer, I felt I was wrong to get in the store. I just want to ask more information and I was pretty ready to make appointment at the store, but the person who try to take care of me was make me feel like I'm not suitable for the shop. She looks seemingly nice, well informed, but at some point I feel like I was judged with an attitude. She might think I couldn't afford there or she might not, but I feel really uncomfortable with her nice reaction that look like she cares but I cannot feeling cared at all. I just feel ashamed. I thought, I should have changed my clothes put some jewelry and make appointment before I went there.. I scheduled the appointment at the shop with an irritation in my heart. After I left the shop, I thought I might not fit with their service. I felt so sad to stop by. I should go back to my usual store. Dr. Andy K is the very best! He took an appointment with my daughter who had inadvertently scratched her cornea while putting on her ortho-K (hard contacts). The receptionist was very sweet and responsive when we arrived. She knew exactly who we were and immediately led us to a very nice, clean, and updated examination room. We didn't even have to wait despite getting a last-minute emergency appointment! As crazy as Dr. K's schedule was that day, he patiently examined my daughter's eyes with his high tech equipment and answered all of our questions in detailed fashion. He took additional scans of my daughter's eyes and ordered the Rolls Royce of ortho-K contacts for her as part of our treatment course. He had excellent bedside manner and was very relatable and sweet to my kids. I rarely encounter medical professionals who are as knowledgeable, adept, and kind as Dr. K. However, after a thorough examination with state of the art, modern technology equipments, I was advised to visit my opthalmologist for further vision issues that I had no idea they were there! They saved my eyes and they dedicated their time and professional knowledge, not to sell me a pair of glasses, but to advise me best about my next step regarding my eyes health. I decided to give this place another chance this weekend, and I am very glad that I did. My experience was completely different this time around. Dr. Shao was very personable as well as professional. Not only did she give me her full attention, she gave me plenty of time to answer questions and address my concerns. For the first time I have visited this place, I did not feel rushed, and felt like the attending optimist genuinely did care about my eye care needs. I also noticed a big improvement in the the manner and care of the assistants as well. They also did not rush me, and treated me with respect and dignity. They were very helpful and kind. Don't go here. If I could use one word to describe this practice it would be grifters. I had an eye exam here in September. I wanted to get contact lenses in early January and called to make an appointment. They told me that they require another eye exam if your previous exam was more than three months in the past, what? They admitted that an eye exam should be good for a year, but they won't accept the eye exam that I did at their office. They just want more of your money/benefits and don't care about how they get it. read more

I have been coming for years and am usually happy but recently I noticed they add on exams that you don't ask for. My routine eye exam with insurance was over $100 with insurance and when I asked for the breakdown is when I realized and asked for clarification. After asking to remove the service I didn't ask for my total was $35. Other than that they are ok. Make sure to ask questions about what services you are receiving. My Wife and I have been coming to Dr. K and Dr. Marshal Field since they opened. They expanded in 2020-2021 but the same friendly staff and service has remained the same. My wife has been with Dr Field since his original location on sherman way in Reseda. Dr. K is thorough and utilizes they latest technology to screen his patients. He has a great way of explaining every aspect of the screening process and reasoning behind it. We see him every 12 months and they are exceptional in reminding you of your next check up. Their frame section is well stocked and they have a great selection for different styles and preferences. The turnaround time for prescription lenses is on par with other Optometrist. read more

A1 service! So glad I switched from EyeCon Optometry!! Cynthia was amazing. I was late to my appointment and she was still very courteous and I was still able to be seen by doctor Kongsakul. The optometrist was very sincere and was able to diagnose the health of my eyes through this optical scan thing I paid extra for. I noticed they didn't have the Ray Bans I wanted but Christine was beyond helpful in getting me set up and back ordering it for me. She advised it may take 2 weeks but promised to follow up through text (I consented). Christine followed up on my appointment by sending me an itemized receipt and even texted me a couple of days later letting me know my glasses are ready for pick up. Super happy with the time frame! Valley Optometry still has the same great staff that have been here since day 1 We would make the trek from Pasadena just for their great service and professionalism without even having to think twice. Since my wife has extremely dry eyes, Dr. K suggested a treatment which would hopefully will help her produce tears again. There are currently only 15 optometrists in California that offer this special treatment. Made appointment bought glasses when I got them they felt off. The guy said to wear them to get use to them and I was sent on my way. After closer inspection the lenses were not lined up correctly. Shouldn't he have checked when I said something? One bad experience overlooked gave it a second go! Made appointment bought new back up glasses didn't wear them much then the lenses started peeling. I needed new glasses and didn't want to drive to Oxnard anymore to see my previous optometrist. As much as I love him and his staff, the drive wasn't really working with my work and school schedule. My husband and I made our appointments online since we both needed an eye exam and I was interested in new sunglasses. We both saw Dr Shin who was fantastic! We went during COVID so they took our temperature and the seats in the lobby are spaced out. I was happy they had the Optos machine because I do not want to get my eyes dilated. I ended up replacing the lenses in my glasses because they're still good. I really wanted new sunglasses and it was nice that their staff offered me the best options when it came to using my insurance. My husband was thinking about getting glasses but they didn't have them in the style and color he wanted so they ordered it for him. They were really quick in getting my lenses replaced and I believe my sunglasses were done early. Parking isn't a hassle and all of the forms are done online. read more

I've has some weird things happen in my life, and to say that is an understatement. Many Many Many years ago I saw Dr. Shao at Linden Optometry in Pasadena with my Daughter who needed to get a contacts prescription and had some troubles getting the script without doing a week trial test because she had to go back to Florida right away for School and didn't have the week to try the contacts as she was only visiting me. It all worked out but at that time I found the Dr. to be abrupt and unyielding and we really had to jump through hoops, although I do understand that the proper procedure would have been for my daughter to get the trial pair and go back in. Fast Forward about 10 years and I found myself in a new job at a new place and in need of glasses myself. I booked the best rated place as close to me as I could find and when I got there I thought I would be seeing the practitioner but ended up with Dr. Gina Shao. I hadn't immediately realized that this was the same Dr. that made me not want to go back to Linden Optometry ever again. And again, I found her manner to be very abrupt and intimidating. I had never, but maybe once before at Costco, went through the procedures for getting prescription eye wear. I tried to ask questions and I felt a bit belittled, but Lo and Behold when it was all said and done, I had the BEST VISION OF MY LIFE. She even commented about my new contacts, she was surprised that they were working as well or even better than the progressive eyeglass lenses I had. Fast forward to now and I go to seek her out, because even through her mannerisms and manners had really got me riled up and rubbed me the wrong way, she had given me back the best vision of my life since I had started needing vision assistance. I call the place back and where is she?? She is no longer there so I asked for her name I went to work on my Google, and I found her just a few towns over and have an appointment for June! YAY! What a small world. How could I possible complain about someone who did and does her job so exceptionally well. I as a patient, maybe needed to have more patience myself, and that's a LOT to say coming from me. Can't wait for my new script and to say Hello. I have been going here since 2010/2011, today will be last time I will ever step in the office ever again. The services has always been great...however the customer service has gone down hill over the past few years. The only reason why I continue going here was due to the excellent service by Dr. Kongsakul and Dr. Field. I've purchase total of 5 pair of glasses over past 10/11 years from them, I don't know if they recently switched to new supplier but however the last 3 pairs that I owned had issues and poor quality control. Pair 1 - the coating/film started to fail within a year, had to be sent back for repairs. Pair 2 - had to be replaced the same day when I picked it up as it had bubble in film. Pair 3 / current pair - the coating/film started to show wear and tear within year and half however due to covid last year I wasn't able/comfortable going into office to have it sent for repairs. Today I went into office, explained the situation and was told they couldn't do anything since the warranty expired last October or November. I told them due to personal health issues and covid I wasn't able to last year, was told immediately that supplier would not fix anything that is not covered regardless of Covid situation last year. I totally understand that it's my fault for not being able to bring it sooner. All I wanted them to do was try to make some type of effort with their supplier but no they clearly don't care enough. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
