Amazing place! I had an unfortunate experience with Kaiser as to what kind of eye care I was getting, and getting a proper eye exam from them would take months! So instead, I called here and was seen the day after! They were really thorough and I didn't even need to get my eyes dilated! (Your mileage may of course vary). I needed some glasses, since I can't see close, i had a very bad experience paid 398 for glasses , they didnt make right it for the computer, i told them since the beginning I see double and use computer, but they didnt pay attention, went the third time the Asian eye doctor, seems already upset and told me he was gonna make my glasses in a way I wasn't happy , and told me that my eyes were to old :( very disrespectful,I wasn't gonna be able to used it while driving. But they did it before, Iam still using my old glasses they made , it just need little adjustment. I dont understand why he coulnt make it to see close, for computer and to see far. They have the machines and the knowledge, if I new they were so incompetent I wouldn't had gone, I los my gas in three trips to try to get the glasses right, lost 398 $out of pocket, and they charge the insurance, and they coulnt fix their mistake since beginning, to make the story short I use the glases as sun glases. I usually go to Kaiser to get my prescription and it's been 3 years since I had my eyes checked. This time, I decided to go to another place since Lately been getting a lot of migraines. My husband Alex and I were very happy with Dr. Kongsakul and the manager, Christine. Dr. Kongsakul is informative and knowledgeable. It was nice to know an optometrist that seems To understand where my migraines are coming from. In kaiser, you don't receive the same service as they are rushing to their next patient. Christine, the manager is also really nice and helpful. It was easy to pick our glasses , they have a variety of collection from branded names and regular frames. It's hard to find businesses in the San Fernando Valley area and receive outstanding service. We'll be back again next year :) read more

I came in for an eye appointment( mind you I haven't had one in MANY MANY YEARS! Once I walked in all the staff were nice and welcoming! I had to sign papers before my actual eye appointment ( which is per usual, no biggie)... fast forward to the actual process, I never knew there was so many steps to having your eyes check like this isn't no DMV examination. They take a picture of your eye and nerves around it to make sure your eye is in good health! I had a great experience at the location... will I recommend people to come here? Uhhhhh yes. The doctor was so detailed about what every little step meant and that's what you would want a as patient. Was looking for a place who accepted my insurance to get an eye exam and glasses and found a good place close by. Was able to book an appointment on a Saturday with Dr. Marshall Field. He was very friendly and informative during the entire eye exam. They have a great selection of glasses that are affordable and some nice designer ones. Vanessa was very helpful with not just the styles but also the types of features for my lenses. She even reminded me about the Yelp deals to save on the cost not covered by my insurance. Very friendly staff who are always willing to help, polite doctor who listens to any issues you may have with tons of patience, and the office also uses the latest technology to find the right prescription. Yes, the staff is friendly. The reason for going to this place was because I called the first time, asking how much is an eye exam for contacts. I was told $75. I was sold then, considering everywhere else was $100+. However, the staff is kind of all over the place - even the doctor. I had an eye infection going in, so I wasn't given the eye exam since my vision wouldn't make sense to have it tested. Great, I'm currently stuck with glasses for a couple weeks. That's not their fault, but what I'm mainly upset about here is that I felt very rushed every time I went to see the doctor. The very first visit I was given antibiotics & other various eyedrops & was told to use them every 2 hours & the other drops 'whenever I felt like.' I liked the fact I didn't have to go to a pharmacy to pick up drops, but what was strange was that I wasn't given a paper or instruction on how often to take the drops - like a normal doctor would. However, she was friendly. The follow up I had was with a different doctor, one that deals with medical issues. Okay, so I go in there, & he really never tells me what's wrong with my eye! I felt so rushed, like there wasn't a minute to ask a question. I felt annoyed leaving with all my questions unanswered. Today I go back for my 3rd follow up & they want $35. I said NO because I don't need a doctor to tell me what's wrong with my eye. Also apparently I have slight astigmatism? Yeah, and I was never ever told I had that. I love surprises. P.S. I have been coming here for the past 3 years and could not be more happier. Dr. Kongsakul (who I saw during my first visit), Dr. Shin (who I saw during my last two visits) and staff are ALL very professional, knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. The Drs make you feel at ease during the exams, everyone is very efficient, appts are kept on time, follow ups are provided with phone calls (when my glasses and contact orders are ready), post card reminders are sent to schedule for the next annual eye exam when it is near, and emails/text messages are sent to remind/confirm upcoming appts (which I like and find quite helpful to me). There is a large selection of frames you can choose from. This year, I was in the mood for cat eye shaped frames or something red. I found a pair but didn't quite like the color. I was told that their other location El Portal Optometry in North Hollywood also carry a large selection of frames as well. I decided to check that location out and I'm so happy that I did! I found the perfect pair, OGI Eyewear, red, cat eye shaped frames. Diana assisted me both times in finding my perfect pair (one which I kept for the 1st two years and now my new pair this year). I told her what specifically I was looking for and she helped pick out a bunch of frames for me to try on. She was then able to help me narrow them down to one :) Both locations are very clean. My family was referred here, by a friend, after our last optometrist routinely made us wait an hour to be seen. At Valley we were seen right away. The staff performed a comprehensive screening, including a full digital scan of our eyes. That scan was extra, but I believe it was worth it. It gives a very easily understood picture and allows year by year comparisons. The doctor did several eye exams I had never seen before, including split screen and vertical line ups. He took the time to build lenses and let me try different physical builds. We were quite pleased with our entire visit. read more

Honestly, I had an average experience the first time going here, but the service has changed since then. This year marks my second time going to Valley Optometry Eyecare Center. Here is what changed: Last year, they asked me before taking a picture of the back of my eye (retinal imaging exam) but this year they did it without asking. This test costs $30 and is normally performed for people who have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, or other conditions (link below). I do not have any of those preexisting conditions. I don't think most people are aware of which exams are necessary and which are not, so I suggest choosing an optometry center that is more transparent about why they charge you the way they do. At the end of the day, $30 is not a lot of money, and it's not only about the money. It's about healthcare that is transparent about extra costs and unnecessary exams. Isn't that what we all want from our healthcare providers? These people are trying to make money by using the pandemic as an excuse to implement mandatory retinal imaging instead of dilation. Although I explained that I never do a dilation, and just want a simple eye exam, they would not work with me. I'm fortunate to have an insurance, but feel disgusted and sad about how they're usining less fortunate people during these though times to make up for lost business. Shameful! read more

This place is a bit shady. Ordered eyeglasses with expensive features like highest-index, blue-blocking and other features but received it without these options and not a word from the store. We had to discover this ourselves and had to go back and point this out so there's not much QC going on there. We had to tell them that these options weren't actually included before they did something about it and then blamed the lab for what happened. I mean, it's your job to deal with labs and insurance companies and check their work, not mine. Took multiple trips to correct errors that should've never been made in the first place. I've been to many other eye places before and this has never happened. I don't have any trust or confidence in this place and I would recommend another place. If you end up going there to get glasses please triple check what you paid for vs. what was actually provided. read more

After having such great service the first time I decided to come back for a full check up. The optometrist was very thorough in her evaluation of not only my vision but the overall health of my eyes. I hate to leave bad reviews but these people are the worst. They sell frames with defects all over them and the. When you come in they say it's fine I'll fix it and god a sloppy quick fix just for yo hot come back again and again. On top of that when it was to the point that my glasses couldn't be fixed (the arms of the Oliver peoples I bought from them were so cheap and flimsy) they told me I was out of warranty and that there is nothing they can do besides offer me to buy a new pair...
