I found staff here was unhelpful. They neglected to send me the address to the office, and when I called to get it, I didn't even finish asking my question when the receptionist said she is canceling my appointment because my insurance was rejected. In a patronizing tone she said that I "must not have gotten her message about this earlier". I told her I had gotten the message and that my insurance verified that it was active and that it was accepted at that location. She argued with me that it wasn't working and said there is nothing she can do. She offered no solutions. I asked if I needed to re-call the insurance and have her hear them verify and she said no, and there was nothing she could do... yet instructed me to call my insurance (again) ‍ It was unproductive, unhelpful, and I wouldn't go here. She made no effort to provide any solutions-- and they never even sent me the address to begin with. More annoying still, I had waited 5-6 weeks to get this appointment, and now I have to start my search over and wait longer! read more

Walked in at 4:45. The sign out front and their website said they are open until 5:30. There are literal bars up on the doors and windows as if they are closed. A person in an office asks me what I want, I say I am there to order glasses. She tells me I have to make an appointment (????)to get fitted for glasses. She tells me to PICK UP ordered glasses you need an appointment. I am a customer standing right there, ready to spend money at this practice and they won't oblige. After I left I get a call telling me it's the Monday after basically I have to wait 2 weeks to have someone get my new RX and replace the lenses on my frame which I had purchased from them. I have been a patron of West Valley Optometry for over 10 years. Their customer service, quality of care, cleanliness, and modern facility is unmatched. The staff is always helpful and courteous whether over the phone or in person. Anything I've ever needed from emailed receipts, orders for contacts, or questions-I have always received a timely response and had things taken care of easily. I have never had to wait long to be seen and I am always taken on time for my visits. The visits with the doctors themselves are thorough and you never ever feel rushed. Dr. Escobar is fluent in Spanish (a plus) and she is a gem! Dr. Escobar was able to diagnose and catch the cause of my migraines using the state of the art technology of one their exam machines (a rare diagnosis)! The selection is not that big. Especially for a woman. My glasses took a month to come back. I went in to get them adjusted & she barely touched them. They still felt the same as if she didn't hear what I said. Then she cleaned them & handed them back to me with her finger print smears. In February 2021, I dropped off my progressive glasses (to switch out my old lenses and obtain my new prescription) at West Valley Optometry in Canoga Park, CA; this was my first time using this establishment. I gave them a try because they are a local business, and I try to support my community as much as possible. It took five weeks for them to return my glasses; this was only a prescription increase. Typically, it takes 7-10 days wherever I have previously had my lenses changed. They blamed the Covid situation on the delay but, "who knows?" For a couple of reasons, my assessment is someone at the store or the lab broke my glasses. The lens fell out, plus the arm fell off. Furthermore, my glasses are irreparably broken since they are a plastic frame. In the beginning, when this occurred, I was only offered a 30% discount. I firmly believe this is not sufficient since I had nothing to do with breaking my glasses. Another issue is that these glasses cost me $1,500.00 back in 2014 and would have lasted 10-15 years. In any event, we agreed upon a price to compensate me for a new pair of glasses. After months of waiting, I was able to pick up my new glasses several days ago finally. (It took four months) Of course, everything is screwed up again. I had two prescriptions, one that gave me better distance. The lab, of course, put in the prescription that has the lowest amount of distance that I needed. Therefore, I am having trouble seeing. As incompetent as the lab might be, I do blame the store. Patricia, who I am dealing with, should have verified everything before having them delivered. The problem with this store is you have inexperienced and youngsters running it. I have never met the owner like I should have, especially since there have been problems from the start. It is fascinating to note; any other optometrist I have gone to, the owner is the front person; maybe this owner needs to become more involved with his customers before losing his business. read more

I am an existing patient, and my husband wanted to switch from where he was to dr Minnie. He was so happy he did. The front desk ladies are patient, friendly and knowledgeable. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Minnie for many years. My husband had an eye exam on May 10th of 2022 and ordered 2 pairs of glasses for $885, with insurance. A week later my husband went to the hospital and died on May 22nd, 12 days later. He never picked up or wore the glasses. I called Dr. Minnie immediately but was always directed to one of his employees. After much back and forth, the employee, agreed to refund the cost of one of the frames $320. I contacted VSP and they attempted to investigate the issue but could never reach Dr. Minnie. They were always directed to an employee. VSP refunded $150 for part of the lenses on one pair of glasses. I am an 83 year old widow and have paid Dr. Minnie $433 for glasses my husband never picked or wore. I will now find another optometrist. read more

He and his staff are friendly and professional and make sure that your needs are taken care of and you walk out a satisfied customer. I've been coming here for 4 years and it's the first time I've been disappointed because of their new staff (Selena). She was nice the first time I saw her but when it was time to get my glasses, she's not accommodating at all. She has this look like I was wasting her time and charged me extra when I asked to change the lenses from the new frame that I brought from them. That's the first time I was asked money for something so easy and should be part of after care purchase. When I refused to pay and told her I will just cancel the order, she said it's non-refundable and there's nothing I can do. She made me feel helpless and appalled. These guys are great! The ladies at the front desk are very helpful and attentive. The eye exam was quick, easy and informative. They wrote me with a new prescrition for glasses. I used my old frames (their suggestion) as I didn't want to buy new ones. A week later my dog chewed on those frames and scratched the lenses. I took them back for repair and they filed a warranty claim with my insurance. The insurance covered the cost of the damaged lenses, and offered me a couple options of new frames to choose from. Several months later, those frames cracked from a fall onto a hard surface. I went back again and the ladies at the front desk were again very accommodating. They located the identical frames in stock and removed and replaced the lenses at no changed. Great service, I highly recommend. read more

I go to Dr. Escobar and I never want to go anywhere else! She is extremely professional and kind. She listens to all my concerns and I actually look forward to my eye appointments! The best thing she did (and the reason I recommend her to friends and family) is when I burst a blood vessel from throwing up and freaked out. Can't say enough positive things about this office. I have been coming here for 6 years and I look forward to my visits. The staff is kind and professional, the doctors are thorough and I never feel rushed. The facility (newly upgraded and remodeled) and equipment are pristine and modern. They also have an area for kids to play (score for a parent!). I love their text reminders for appointments and I have never had a problem scheduling an appointment or receiving a follow up call for an additional test I required. Oh my gosh, how have I not Yelped WVO yet? My bad! I started coming here at the recommendation of my Mum, who started coming here in 2009-ish. Not only did Dr Minnie help straighten out my Mum's eyes, he's helped me with mine. Most recently, I dropped by because I had a red-spot on my eye. The reception staff took one look at me and showed me instantly in to see Dr Kenien. She did a very thorough exam, determined what was going on, gave me a prescription and I was on my way. I know this might not have happened had they been super busy, but the staff was able to work flexibly and think outside of the appointment schedule. I like their new physical expansion too - can't wait to see what it looks like once it's completed. I cannot recommend WVO highly enough. I know from my experience and from my Mum's that the doctors here refer to ophthalmologists when necessary, they don't take any chances with your vision, and I heartily appreciate that. read more

I was a bit underwhelmed with the customer service at this place. They seemed a bit disorganized when it came to processing orders and I think my contacts order was delayed because of this. The staff is nice and Dr. Chowdhry is a real professional, however it was just an okay experience. Their hours are short, except on Mondays, open until 7pm, but it became more of an inconvenience to go here versus another place. I would not recommend changing your lenses here. If you're going to get glasses, get the whole package of the frame and lens. I brought my own frames and only updated the lenses. When I got them back, the lenses were fine, however I noticed that my frame didn't feel right. Because it wasn't their frame, they were not very helpful with fixing the fit. When I got home later that night, the frame did not fit properly in its case, so for sure the frame shape changed. It probably happened in the factory that they use, but ugh, it did not help with the overall experience. When one of my contact lenses boxes didn't arrive after a week of being ordered, I had to call a few times to confirm what was going on. Whenever they said the would call back regarding a status, they never did. After two and a half weeks, still nothing, so I called again regarding the status. They had received a package, but haven't had a chance to open it. I asked them to call me if my order was in, but no call, so I assumed it didn't come in . The next day, I called again seeing if it was in the new delivery, and they confirmed that it was delivered the day before. Very disorganized. read more

This place used to be really good. I only kept going because of the female doctor. Who I was passed down to from Dr Minnie. The Last 2 appts scheduled with Dr Minnie who had always been my eye doctor, both times i got there and I was switched to the female doc. I forgot her name. I felt it was on purpose as he took another client both times instead of me. Not an accident probably new clients. It worked out I liked her better and scheduled the 3rd and my last appt with her directly. The staff has changed and is now pretty rude. The office manager or the girl that's been there along tiMe used to be really nice but she's very rude now also and just doesn't seem to care anymore like the passion for her job is gone. The rudeness is what may reflect on the staff I think. I'm no expert. I came in on a sat half an hour before closing after calling to find out what time they closed also and I even brought a friend who needed new glasses. We planned to leave our prescriptions pick frames and go or return if we had to. They wanted to rush us out never saying they couldn't help us but asked me for my insurance quickly and my friend was so turned off by the initial cust service and questions she was like no not buying here and decided not to give them her info. They even asked rudely if she had been there before it seemed like they didn't want to take any time for a new client and kept looking back at the office manager like I don't want to help them look. Should I? It's 30 mins before closing look, it was akward. So my friend said it's ok I'll just look. I kept looking for a min because they have my info. Then They tell me the insurance online said I wasn't eligible. Tried to explain I switched jobs they didn't care to call or anything Kinda felt like they wanted us out at that point although there was about 3 girls and no clients waiting.They didn't want to deal with it and I felt embarrassed having brought my friend here after the service we received. I took the hint and said I'll call them and come back and said I'll take a quick look still at your frames. This all happened in 5 mins I actually had picked the frame I wanted but they never actually helped me and saw me waiting there for someone to unlock the cabinet where the frames were. I felt ignored and I know they saw me waiting. I decided not to ask anything else or ask them to open it clearly they saw me looking at the Gucci frames. Immediately after another 5 mins of all this we decided to leave after driving 30 mins there, since we weren't going to get actual help. No one ever bother to come help look and open the locked cabinet i don't think I've actually ever received service like this before. Those would have been my 4th or 5th pair of frames and lenses purchased here and I buy expensive toric contacts every year also. I can no longer ignore the customer service these last 3/4 visits. The female doctor is the nicest and was the only reason I continued to visit for the last 2-3 years. I was a client for probably almost 10 years. There are other offices with more options and nicer staff that may actually want my business. The last few times I was here I didn't feel very welcomed. Kept giving them chance after chance. After losing one of my contact orders and then also losing my whole entire file at the same time....to being passed to another doc. Then this happened also. I wasn't going to post anything as this was about a mth ago but I was made feel a certain way here the last few times by the staff and Today I realized I really need new glasses and contacts and remembered all this and decided not to go back. I now have to find the time to find a new doc and office. read more

What an attentive place. i had called in last minute on a Friday. the frame to my glasses had popped. Went in and there were 2 very nice girls there, Beatrice and Patricia, they did everything in their power to stay and fix the frame to my glasses. Note: i did not purchase my glasses there, only the prescription. right away they did not try to upsell me on getting new glasses. over half an hour was spent on my glasses. the effort and time was very much appreciated.
