My significant other and I have been patients at Luna Optometry for four years now. During COVID, our longtime optometrist moved out of the area, and we are happy that we found Dr. Emily James and Luna Optometry. The office is very comfortable and welcoming, and Dr Emily James and the team take exceptional care of their patients. Every time that we have visited, everything runs efficiently and promptly. Everyone is so friendly and kind. Dr. James is extremely knowledgeable and incredibly detailed with her exams. She has excellent communication skills and makes you feel so comfortable. I truly enjoy the time that I am in the office for my annual exams. I can't say that about all medical appointments! For those looking for glasses, the selection to choose from is large. There is something for everyone. If you are looking for contacts, there are many options available to meet your needs. It is a breeze to schedule an appointment, either online or by giving a call. Would not recommend for glasses. Bought a very nice, very expensive pair of glasses and they made me dizzy. After multiple rounds of lenses, with still no improvement, I wanted a full refund but they wouldn't give me one. They said they wanted to try one more time to make the lenses work. They acted like I was crazy and the woman who does the glasses went so far as to say "you're very sensitive" and imply it was my problem, not hers. After this last attempt, they still gave me a fish bowl effect, but I had had enough. I finally took the frames to my former optometrist in Westwood and he got me lenses that actually worked. No more fishbowl. No one making me feel nuts. Hundreds of dollars and months later. Apparently it was all due to the curvature of the lenses. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Luna Optometry and Dr. James. My ophthalmologist gave me a prescription which Luna filled. It just wasn't working (ophthalmologist error) and was the wrong prescription. Dr. James worked with me until we got it right. She and her staff are amazing! I have been switching optometrists every year trying to find one I really like. Dr. Emily and team has made me feel comfortable. The office is nice and located in the gealsons parking lot so a ton of parking. I felt like Dr. Emily really took care of me and asked me questions. She didn't let anything slide and was thorough since I was a new patient she thought the glaucoma test was needed. It made sense to me since she didn't know my history and this is how a good doc should be. Getting my glasses was pretty easy. No one made me feel uncomfortable which is how I normally feel with them standing over you. The woman was patient and I told her I just want the free glasses. No judgement. I got them quicker than I expected. I then had an eye emergency and they worked around my schedule to get me in the day I called. Luckily it wasn't anything serious and the relief and what to expect was well worth a visit to Dr. Emily. During my glaucoma test the other optometrist I can't remember her name, but she was great as well and I would not hesitate to go to her if Dr. Emily wasn't available. First year at this optometrist. Between my kids and me, we've seen two different optometrists there, and they were both awesome! My kids loved theirs! Both were super sweet, and up to date with their screenings. Even though I get antsy with these tests, they helped get me thru. No super long wait, and such a nice facility. I just visited Luna on the recommendation of my wife. 1. Super easy to schedule an appointment online 2. Filled out new payment info including insurance online (took 3 minutes) 3. Dr. Jones saw me within 5 minutes of my appointment time 4. She nailed down my difficult Rx and fitted me with new contacts 5. The staff is efficient, nice and knowledgeable 6. My close up / computer vision is improved as is my long distance This was my best optometrist ever and even better my insurance paid the majority of the cost. read more

I came here from reading other reviews, made sure they were in my network and booked my appointment effortlessly and completely on line. I was attracted to this place as the review said it was an all female staff and female doctors. Dr James was amazing! Lovely personality, knowledgeable, professional and very pleasant. She did the routine test, also added in the coolest retina scan I've ever seen! She let me know about my eye without saying it in a "dumb down way". Mounia helped me pick out some great frames, and even put up with me FaceTiming my mom and sister! Lol. The glasses came back quicker than expected and I am very happy. In total a great experience! I brought my teenagers in for eye exams. Dr. Chou was professional and pleasant. She did a thorough exam with advanced equipment including retinal imaging and even taught us a bit of biology viewing the images and how the eye works! Turns out both my kids have good eye sight. Dr. James, the owner, and assistants were there, very friendly and knowledgeable. They are prepared prior to your visit regarding insurance. This office is on top of things. I was having trouble getting appointments at other ophthalmologist and optometrist offices with people not answering the phones or taking my insurance. So glad I found Luna Optometry! read more

This team is awesome. Last week I took our 7 year old to a pediatric ophthalmologist in Encino. It was just an annual eye check up for vision. They were cold, abrupt and came out of there feeling more confused. So I started looking for a second opinion (again, just vision, no surgical or larger eye issue). We called a few optometrists and other ophthalmologists in LA and we were recommended to go to Luna. What a world of difference. The office staff is warm and welcoming and Dr. Chou was so good with my son. Empathetic, clear and included him in the conversation. She took the time to answer all my many questions and we walked away with a very clear understanding of where he was at and next steps. We got new glasses for him and Mounia, the optician, was patient and wonderful. We picked up his glasses yesterday and they were just as wonderful. Can't recommend them enough. read more

We just moved to the area and stumbled upon Luna Optometry. I am sooooo glad we did. Dr. James is awesome! She was able to examine me and my 11yo daughter back to back. She is very thorough and dedicated to finding the right products that work for you. (For me this involved trying a few different contacts until we got it right). My daughter felt comfortable and had an easy exam - no anxiety at all that she sometimes gets at medical appointments. And Mounia fit my daughter with a great pair of glasses. After moving away from the optometrist I used for 10 years, I didn't think I could find another who would match the level of dedication and service I had there. My first optometrist in the LA area put me in contact lenses that frustrated me with imperfect vision and discomfort for over a year. Dr. James and her staff came to the rescue! I have had difficulty being fitted for contact lenses after a number of changes to my eyes, and Dr. James was diligent in finding the type and brand that would work for me. I am happy to say that we really found the best fit and that my contacts are finally feeling comfortable! She also educated me on my eye health when choosing contacts that would be safest and most hygienic for the time I spend in the ocean.
