I've had one of the worst experiences ordering new lenses for my classes! I have a rather significant prescription/correction, and the lab used couldn't physically make the lenses. They screwed up two pair of lenses, had to send out to a second lab, they couldn't produce the lenses. Meanwhile more than six weeks ticked by. No one could inform me when they would be made or shipped I still don't have them, as I write this. Now, I just want my frames returned to I can get lenses made for them somewhere else. One notepad on my glasses fell off so I went looking for a local optometrist to fix it. I walked into Wink Optometry, the woman at the front desk was super friendly, replaced both nose pads vs just reinstalling the one, and didn't charge me a cent. I absolutely love this place. They are so nice but also efficient, ur in and out in a snap. I also was having an eye issue once every year or so. I went to a few doctors and they couldn't get it fixed. Came to wink, the dr. told me exactly what was wrong and how to fix it and I haven't had an issue sense. The absolute cherry on top - the receptionist - I dk her name but she has black hair and always wearing fabulous glasses. She is literally a genius at matching glasses and sunglasses to your face. I thought for years I just looked terrible in both but she explained my facial features to me and the kind of glasses I needed to suit them. Wink Optometry in Calabasas Commons. (4783 Commons Way Ste C, Calabasas) Drs: Kyle Brewer OD Garineh Nersisyan OD I chose there as the OD is on the Board of Optometry. "Jennie" checked me in. She also did the basic eye test with the machine and a second testing for peripheral vision - I got to press a button every time I saw wavy lines show up in varying places on first the left eye then right. Then went into another room for blood pressure testing. Then I got to see the doctor. We did the familiar "letter chart" test, and she put drops in my eyes for general exam. She told me I could still see after and I could. I didn't have to wait the 20 mins so these drops must be different. I had offered my two last prescriptions as I had these in my wallet. (in my case these went back to 2009). (If you don't have copies of your old scripts you may be able to get from your former optometrist or Opthalmologist.) After, doctor walked me out and Jennie showed me the drawer of frames available. My immediate shock was that the frames are really nice quality and well made. (I have a book coming out on how to save money in quality glasses: frames, lenses and extras, so I have made a study of frames, for example.) Jennie measured my face for glasses Frames I picked - gunmetal aviator ~ $115. Plastic lenses free ( If you choose metal frames you need a polycarbonate lens - I did - so there is a small upcharge: $31) I wasn't charge extra for a slight correction for astigmatism. I did pay $17 extra for a graduating tint. I wanted "reflective coating" and that is $85 extra. Out the door I paid $133. It takes 7-10 days to get my glasses. --- If I want to add a second pair after we test the prescription, for similar glasses in a sunglasses tint I'm at about $252 less 20% WARRANTY: One year on the glasses. Free alteration on the lens prescription if If doesn't match script or it doesn't feel right. I was resisting a script with astigmatism correction and was told it can be taken out if I don't like it. CONTACTS: This exam doesn't include contact lens prescription. That exam is $95 and includes trial lenses. ( I have to check but that sounds about what Costco charges. ) --- If you want clear just plastic lenses, no extras you can get out for free. WANT HIGHER END FRAMES: They have a wide variety of high end designer frames. I had looked at higher end frames at department store locations but I was nicely surprised that they had similar brands but a wider variety of styles. I liked the place and I thought they were very nice there. PARKING: Parking was easy. It's next to Dry Bar which is next to Theatre. That's the opposite end away from Starbucks or Ralph's. I was there around 11:30am on a weekday. Disability parking - 2 spots and loading spot - exactly in front. Walk to front door maybe 20 feet. --- Cons: Bar stools to sit on to fill out one page form. Not practical for people with disabilities and seniors. You can sit in regular chairs in back of these but they are type hard to get out of if you have knee problems. Seats for testing your eyes are two chairs side by side in a tight space. Requires being able to lift your own body weight to shift to chair to left. This needs a better set up. Seat for blood pressure is narrow if your bum is "wider." Disclaimer: As a Woolsey Fire Evacuee, I had a Red Cross issued VSP gift certificate. A good year for a business is will someone coming in not paying full prices be treated well? This optometrist scores a perfect 10 so far on all levels. read more

SO excited we walked into this place! Came in here randomly after breakfast at Marmalade... This is my first time looking for prescription glasses... The woman was so attentive and patient. She helped my boyfriend and I pick a pair of glasses each - which took about an hour. She had us try and compare similar styles and colors and was enthusiastic about the whole thing. She even placed us in different light and walked us outside of the store with a mirror, so we could form an opinion about how they look in the natural daylight. She treated our experience as if it were Her experience and customer service like that, should never go unrecognized! She informed us that she would do her best to get us our glasses in one week and they did. I'm excited to go pick them up in a few minutes! This is a comfy high-class place to get a pair of glasses, regular or sun. I had my first appointment this December with a full eye exam. The staff doctor is super personable and easy to talk to. I had originally planned to just get an exam and take my prescription elsewhere because their web site only has an abbreviated list of brands they carry (that's why I removed a star). Since I was using up my year-end FSA money I wanted to get some high-end prescription sunglasses so I was tickled to see Chanel, Celine and Tom Ford are all carried in-store. I got a great pair of Celine sunnies which took about a week to make and replaced the lenses in my regular glasses with my new prescription, which took slightly longer. Parking at the Commons is always a bit of a nightmare but just keep going and eventually you'll find something! But it is indeed a beautiful shopping center and you can take in a movie afterwards and see it crystal clear with your new specs. read more

We suffered the classic "bait-and-switch" marketing method at Wink Optometry. We have been going to Wink Optometry for 4 years to have eye exams for my son. This month (July 2023) he wanted to try contacts. I called to set up an eye exam and asked if he could get a prescription for contacts as well. I was told yes, and that the addition of the contact measurements would cost an extra $20. I said fine and booked. We went into our appointment and I was told that no, it would not cost an additional $20. Wink does not give contact lens prescriptions during the eye exam. Instead, Wink makes another appointment for a lens fitting and charges $75. I told them that they completely changed their information, which I had expressly asked for prior to coming, and that I would have to cancel that appointment to go over options. I later found out that most places do not fit contacts for 14-year-olds, the minimum age is 16. The reason is that young teens would have to go back to have the fittings checked during the year. So this would be an extra $75 every few months. Costco Optical does not fit until 16 for this reason. My son then decided that he would continue to wear glasses for two more years. I called Wink back to make another eye exam appointment and went over how they did not give me the correct information, which is the reason why I cancelled. Wink 'said' sure, pay us $145 for the missed appointment, which we will refund you when you come to the next appointment. I was surprised. I never missed an appointment with Wink, ever! I did not miss any appointment, I 'cancelled' the appointment we went to because of their misinformation (or outright lie if you wish). It was their fault. Of course, no mention was made of the money and time I spent to go there on their false pretenses! I refused to pay as the penalty they were demanding applies only to the standard 'missed appointment', and not one that I actually went to but left because of their bait-and -switch routine. This is outrageous behaviour by a 'health' group. I feel that their 'bait-and-switch' method of getting people to come for contact lens prescriptions for one stated price and then changing the cost is illegal and immoral. Shame on them for putting my son and me through this, and shame on them for applying a penalty on me when it should be the other way around. Expect the worst from this group. If this is their marketing approach, you will be fleeced. You have been warned. read more

Had my first appointment here which was super easy to schedule online. The front desk optician was friendly and knowledgeable. The ophthalmologist gave me few tips on eye care as well as a new prescription for progressive lenses. The overall experience was great, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes for my initial eye exam. The office is very clean and modern, they also seem to have new and modern equipment as well. I brought in my own frames for them to fit the new progressive lens however they have a good selection of higher end frames for purchase. The cost for the exam and lenses is what I would expect from a place that provides personalized service. Not your typical big brand optical store but much better service and selection. read more

I was so pleased with the excellent service I received from Dr. Nersisyan and her wonderful staff. I am a contact lens wearer, with astigmatisms in both eyes, and have had trouble in the past finding comfortable lenses. Dr. Nersisyan is kind, listens, and found me a pair of lenses I can FINALLY wear all day without discomfort! I previously went to Lenscrafters (under my former insurance plan) and noticed a HUGE difference in the customer service & satisfaction, compared to Wink Optometry. I stopped by Wink while on a quest to find the "perfect" pair of frames. I'd already been to a few optometry shops throughout the southland and was coming up empty. I must say that, although I didn't end up buying my frames here, the selection was good, the salesperson was super knowledgeable and I never felt like any sort of snob factor that I thought might happen in a shop like this. Wink carries top designer brands I just couldn't seem to find frames that fit a smaller, more petite face. Big frames seem to be in vogue at the moment. One touch that I really, really appreciated was that the saleswoman was kind enough to take several photos of me with the frames on so I could run them by my friends and family. She was also clever enough to recommend that we take the photos in order and then photograph all of the frames separately, also in a line to match the photo order, so I could keep track of them all. Now that's "above and beyond." That's 5-star customer service. Thank you Wink, sorry I didn't actually purchase. read more

I would think twice about going here - great reviews are for Dr. Alpert & Corben but I saw Dr. Narsissen and although nice, had a horrible reaction to their glaucoma testing. They use tonometry eyedrops that numb your eye and I was told that I could put my contacts back in after the exam. I had extreme redness in my eyes for one week and when I called her, she said that this was "normal" and that certain eyes are sensitive to the drops. After researching on the internet, contacts are not supposed to be put back in until 2 hours after a tonometry exam. The actual tonometry scope touches your eyes so either their equipment is dirty, or she should had not advised it was okay to put contacts in after the drops were applied. Although nice, the office seemed very confused in dealing with insurance as well. Save your time and money - go elsewhere or make sure you see Dr. Corben. read more

Very happy with this place. My wife and I have been going here for the past three years not only because our long time Dr., Dr. Alpert is one of the three doctors, but also because they have a great selection of eye wear and the opticians are excellent especially Dianne who is our favorite. Our last eye exam was in June and I selected a pair of Oliver Peoples frames. After it was done, I wore it for a day and realized that they were uncomfortable and did not like them at all. I was sweating it thinking that I was stuck with these glasses for another two years before our insurance, VSP, would kick in again for new frames. I reached out to Dianne who was nice enough to take them back and help me with another frame that I very much like. Try this at some other place if it ever happened to you. Good luck. Glasses are a necessity like nothing else. I can be really miserable if you can't see well. But beyond that they are right on your face and can do a lot to or for your appearance. So I think it's important to not wear something that looks cheap. On the other hand something real nice could make a real positive statement for your appearance. Dr. Nersisyan not only gave me attitude when I asked the difference with my "eyeglass prescription" and "contact lens prescription" but she made me wait about 20 min in the exam room while she was doing whatever?! I got up to say something and she still took a few min. to come back in. She was very brief and I felt like I was waiting a lifetime. I def. will not be back again. The exam lasted a total of 5 min, but I was in the office for 40. I think there is a male doctor on this site, and he is WAY BETTER and is in depth about everything you need to know.
