I wish I had read these reviews before going to this practice. I used the word "incompetence" to describe the care I've received from them (on my 10th+ call and email about the same prescription not being filled correctly) and I was dismissed from the practice for "verbal abuse." I am the widow of an U.S. Army Officer and Physician. I am the mom to a childhood cancer survivor. I'm the wife and caregiver to a man who was a Director at Deloitte before being disabled. All this to say, I do expect professionals to be professionals. Fortunately, I have not come across this level of rudeness, disorganization, lack of understanding of how to do one's job (from the NP to the back office) in any other medical practice. Thankfully, I have many emails that support my claim of "incompetence." I will be sharing them with the medical board along with statements from myself and my husband -- who witnessed in person and through phone calls on speaker just what I was dealing with. By the way... it will be a month as of the 17th... and I still don't have the equipment a specialist told this office to prescribe. I have been a patient of office for over two years. I almost left his office due to , one of his nurse practitioners like other people here have said, Renee was rude. She only pushed me to see specialists instead of trying to see if there was another way. fortunately, for me, and all of Dr Black's other patients Renee quit. I was then able to see Holly, Dr Black's other nurse practitioner is like night and day. Holly has sent me to Physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in my legs so that I can put off hip surgery for a while. She also is having me go to pt to help me with my balance. I am a senior and she is concerned about the possibility of a fall. Holly also is very personable. She remembers me And what is Going on in my life and I would not go to another practitioner. I've been with them for years and have never had any problems. They can get a little busy at times, but the quality of care more than compensates. Office staff is friendly and responds in a punctual manner. They check their email and faxes on a very regular basis, and I am always satisfied with my care, and I am an extremely picky person when it comes to doctors and office staff. In fact, I had to switch doctors because my last doctor's office was almost non-responsive when it came to meeting my needs. I am a quadriplegic so I need responsible, punctual care. ****BEWARE**** The Office of Dr. Black will tell you anything you want to here to set an office visit in order to charge you $210.00.....TOTAL SCAM!!! I had a family doctor for most of my life. He understood my career, levels of stress, family history, and everything in between. I had been taken routine medication for over 10 years (and have the records to prove it). My doctor finally retired and had recommended me to Dr. Black. I called in explained everything, was told it would be "No Problem".....then the scheduled a "phone appointment" (due to COVID) where I was basically told "Sorry we can't accept you" now pay us $210.00. I found another doctor that was completely understanding of my situation, reviewed my history completely, and had no problem prescribing me what has been working for over 10 years. I called the business office and spoke to the business manager and expressed my frustration. She didn't care at all, and got pissed at me for disputing the charge. Rudely she stated she would speak to the doctor and get back to me. Her idea of getting back to me was sending another attempt to collect payment. Since it seemed they didn't care how I felt, I agreed to pay for the visit, but I made sure they knew I would be sharing my experience with the public so no one has to experience this kind of treatment! read more

Update: the Nurse Practioner came in and apologized after seeing my review. I guess it was someone's bday and they were finishing up on the back but usually that they have the door open early. It was nice that they were quick to see the review and address it. This is my second time here. I called yesterday so was very happy that they could fit me in today as it was so soon. They tell me that my appoint is at 2, but to absolutely be here by 1:50 to check in. I take my lunch from work, get here at 1:48 and the door is locked. It says "closed from 12:30-2 for lunch" on the door. Now I am 21 weeks pregnant, with a severe cold/flu (which is why I made the appointment) standing outside in the rain until 1:57pm when they unlock the door. WHY tell someone to be here at 1:50 if you aren't even open?!? read more

I just left there appalled. Never ever in my life have I gotten such horrible care. I saw the NP Renee who not only made me wait 45 to be seen but when I was seen didn't address why I was even there. I tried to talk about my concerns and she brushed it all off as age related and it felt like she didn't want to hear anything I had to say or care at all about my actual reason for being there. She mentioned a referral which was fine but without a word she left the room. Not a good bye. No wrap up. Nothing. Just left and didn't come back. So I waited there thinking maybe she was printing something but no, she just up and left without a word. So rude and seriously just weird. Then her medical assistant came in. Who by the way was the sweetest and deserves a raise. I can't speak on the practice as a whole but my experience was pretty shocking. More concerned about my medical history than why I was there today. I get they need your history, I have no issue with that but then to not care about why I even made the appointment was so weird. I injured my wrist on Sept. 22, went to urgent care and it was determined that it was broken.I called Dr. Black's office the next day and left a message with his medical assistant. I asked for a referral to an orthopedic surgeon because I was told I needed surgery. It's been several business days and I haven't received a call back yet. I finally sought medical care elsewhere. Has been primary for a few years. Last July, NP I had been seeing left, was told Dr. Black would take over my chart and was promised a call with a follow up on an issue. Never received the call, never received a return call when I called, only change was a prescription called in to the pharmacy that the NP and I had decided I no longer needed. Fast forward to appointment where I requested a prostate screening. Was offered a prescription for Flomax and told my concerns were baseless. Do yourself a favor and find a physician who will listen to you instead of dismissing your concerns and who is reluctant to even do basic screenings. read more

There is so much incompetency in the office staff. We needed a MRI they did not write the specifics to the insurance company, we where rejected many times. You call and the recording we will return your call within 24 to 48 hours. We needed a referral to a heart doctor, didn't get that one either, I had to hand carry it to the referral my self heart doctor. We found another Doctor, and guess what within a week we had referrals to a heart doctor, ex-rays, and an MRI done with no problem. The new Doctor got us referrals within 1 week of our first visit. Dr. Blacks office is very bad for getting back with you and following through with important referrals. My husband suffered weeks of pain because of their negligence. I have been a patient of Dr. Black's since 2008 and cannot imagine seeing anyone else. I am not an easy patient but he has always taken his time to hear me out, is sympathetic and attends to my needs. He is always available to me, is knowledgeable and is also open to learning about new treatments that he may not yet be aware of which is not often. Dr. Black's staff is always friendly, return calls promptly and always do their very best to get me in for an unscheduled appointment. Although there has been a turnover in staff due mostly to staff going back to school I still find the level of professionalism to be outstanding! That goes for the doctor and the staff. I can never imagine going to see anyone else ever! Dr. Black and his staff know my medical history and are attentive to my needs. I have no complaints whatsoever. Dr. Black and Sharon are amazing! My mother has been going to Dr. Black for many years. She is like family to them. My husband and I had the opportunity to switch to Dr. Black about three years ago or so. I will not go to another Dr. I always feel very comfortable and have had no issues. They are extremely busy so you sometimes have to wait for an appointment, but it is worth the wait to feel so comfortable. They listen to you and respond appropriately. We love this place! read more

I felt my review to be important as we put so much trust in our providers hands and we should be able to expect a certain level of care for ourselves and others. I am more patient that most as I worked for CIGNA for many years and understand the challenges in running a medical office. Having said that, I do hold providers to a high standard of professionalism and understanding as our health care is most important in all of our lives. To begin, I find their phone system to most impersonal. The wait time to see our provider is much to long. When there is a need to leave a message,as is always the case as there typically is no one available to take your call,the wait time for a call back is much to long as well. I was, in addition, disappointed with Dr. Black's responses to a few negative reviews. The lack of professionalism & care exhibited in his responses confirmed that it was indeed time to search for another provider. I had Dr Jason A. Black for over 10 years. I miss Dr. Jason A Black. He is a good doctor. His office manager is why I left Laura violated my HIPPA rights. She spoke with a family member about me being g a patient at there office. She didn't have my consent to do so. Not to mention she was extremely rude on the phone. I filled a HIPPA complaint with my insurance carrier. I decided at this time not to sue them. I could change my mind though as the HIPPA department at my insurance company agrees they did violated my rights. Dr Black needs to have a serious talk with his office manager. The rude behavior was prompted by a message I left on there phone. My message explained my frustration of trying to get a medicine filled after 4 weeks I was beyond frustrated. The message basically outlined my frustration at there lack of there ability to take care of a patient. I told them that there behavior was borderline on incompetence and that if I couldn't take care of this over the phone and had to come down there it was not going to be pleasant for them. That is not a threat that's a promise if I have to drive 28 miles to get something handled it should be handled over the phone. The office manager called back while I was on the phone with the insurance company I clicked over to answer with that and the first words out of her mouth when I spoke was you call this incompetent and I said no I didn't call you incompetent I said your behavior in order lining on incompetency and then she proceeded to say threatened us and I said how can come down there and doing with this in person face to face if that's what she thinks it's right is then I'm dealing with a snowflake office no thank you. Laura does not know the definition of what a threat is that's sad considering she almost got the office sued for HIPAA rights violation. I love my new doctors and my new doctor is being very proactive on my health. In the beginning of this mess I said I might go back if Laura wals gone. Not now noway Jose. I like my new primary care doctor, and my COPD doctor and urologist. I feel this doctor is taking a more proactive roll in my health. In closing I will say this about Dr. Jason A. Black. During the height of the pandemic in August of 2020 he lost a physician's assistant that really crippled his ability to be able to give all his patients they care they all deserve. He did not refill that position right away. Which meant calling and to get an appointment went from usually within a day or two to two to three weeks. I stuck this out. When the HIPAA violation was committed it was early in 2021 and we were going through another wave and I did not want to change doctors during that time. I was just waiting for the next shoe to drop and it dropped when they couldn't seem to get a medicine that I needed filled. Very Unprofessional! I never got to see the MD over 1.5 years, not even a hello, only an RN who I liked but she, along with other staff abruptly left. Then I could only make an appt with a new RN, who after the first appt told me to come back in 3 months, then only 1 month later demanded that I come in and refused to refill my prescriptions (no warning no notice ever!)... Probably so they can make another $85 on me since I was a cash patient. He also prescribed meds I never asked for and discussed my treatment illegally with my pharmacist! I felt violated! When I called to complain about the new RN and make an appt with Dr Black, my calls weren't returned! I got ghosted by my own Doctor! Hilarious! Dr.Black has been my Doctor for many years. He is always available for me, if I leave a message Dr. Black or his nurse will return my call within 48 hours usually 24. When He has refered me to a specialist and I was not happy with them He has no problem finding me the right one. I really don't know what I would do to find a better Dr. If ever needed. I just want to say how very grateful I am for Holly Rowe, the PA for Doctor Jason Black AND her assistant Susie. HOLLY KNOWS HER STUFF! She is like two steps AHEAD of things and ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!!. My brother has both dementia and Crohn's disease (harsh and serious GI problems). When we were dealing with a particularly difficult situation, to speed things up, she ordered a test that the GI doctor ABSOLUTELY needed to get things under control... saving us from suffering through another week. The GI doctor's office eventually caught it, and was very pleased that the process was already started. Thank you Holly! You don't feel like just a number with her. I find it interesting that when she gives me advice about a particular speciality problem, like, for example, dermatology or even urology or GI, when I actually SEE the specialist, they tell me the same exact thing as Holly said. When she doesn't know something, she doesn't guess....she checks. There is no arrogance in her mannerisms, as is sometimes the case with people of such high intelligence. She is kind, compassionate and a serious asset to this practice. Susie, her assistant, is VERY kind too! And...she returns calls!!!! In MY world, that has become so hard in caring for an elderly sibling, I'm so grateful for this wonderful provider. read more

The only thing I would want to fix is the 10minutes late reschedule appointment rule. This review is not about Dr. Black but his assistant. I called in on a Thursday, around 2:30 pm, to speak to her about having a couple of prescriptions called in. The call went to voicemail where I left a very detailed message and said that if there were any problems or questions she could call me, at which point I gave her my number. No prescriptions were called in that day. On Friday she called my husband and confirmed the location that we wanted the prescriptions sent in to. That was the last we heard from her. Waited all evening. Called our pharmacy numerous times. They never received a call from our doctor's office. It is now the weekend and we have to wait until Monday to try this all over again. This is unacceptable. Calling in a couple of prescriptions is a simple task. If something this simple is handled with such incompetence what else will be? This is an update from my last review. Unfortunately like all doctor offices this place has grown but in our opinion they are struggling to adapt to the growth and so now instead of receiving a call back in the afternoon after leaving a morning message for Dr. Black assistant you are lucky to get a call back within 36-48 hours(this time a little longer going on business day 3 with no return call). The last 3 times I have called to have Dr. Black see my husband he has been out of the office for "the week" and it is usually a 45-60 day window to see him. Sad that we have lost the feel that this office once gave us. Sarah is who I see(and now my husband )and have had no issues and her assistant does callback very promptly. Staff is still nice and no trouble with them just really frustrating how the service has dropped from a 5 Star to a 2 Star to see/talk to Dr. Black and his assistant. Still a clean office and friendly staff but not the timely personal service they once had and not that long ago. Plus Sharon is now gone which I am sure why they may be back logged even more but nobody is more disappointed than us. Thought we found our doctor. You know the one you feel like you would spend YEARS with. When you don't feel valued you look elsewhere. So the search is on. Wish us luck. read more

I have been a patient at Valley Internal Physicians for several years and I have had positive experiences when being seen by the staff. That being said however my last two visits have resulted in significant wait times! I understand that emergencies happen and times can't be predicted to the minute, but it is unprofessional to me to have them consistently overbook and to keep patients waiting for an hour or more to see the medical staff. As patients, we too are busy and have rearranged our day to meet our commitment to be at their office at or before the appointed time. I view that as our contract. I uphold my end of the bargain, but of late they have not. If you have nothing better to do with your time than wait in a lobby, you will probably receive relatively good care. But if you feel that being consistently late for a commitment is disrespectful, then perhaps you should choose someone else. read more

Dr. Black may be a good physician, but his staff and on boarding process for new patients needs help. After signing the form (which I have never had to do with another doctor), I got an appointment for five weeks out as a new patient. I had just moved to the area. In the meantime, I had a bout of diverticulities (history of this and surgery for it), his office person told me all they could do for me was put me on a wait list for an appointment. No recommending I seek urgent care or the ER. I even directly asked what they thought I should do. Just sorry that's all we can do is put you on a wait list or give you an appointment three weeks out as you are not yet established was the response. I found another practice, whose staff understands better what is a critical health issue vs. routine care and they got me in immediately. Care was excellent. Seems Dr. Black may have more patients than he can handle, I would have appreciated being told that right up front. When I called to cancel my appointment, his receptionist hung up on me.
