Hands down our favorite breakfast spot yet since our recent move to Ohio! We absolutely loved everything we ate and the staff was just beyond amazing. We came Valentine's Day morning on a whim...had the chocolate covered strawberry hot chocolate (yesssss) and coffee, a big breakfast of eggs, spicy gravy, meats, and potatoes, and the Amish toast which was pure heaven. We came back again on Fat Tuesday for the crab cakes and shrimp and grits. So awesome! It was also clean and inviting. Can't wait to come back!

Saturday's call for breakfast in downtown Wadsworth at Valley Cafe. We were greeted and seated right away. Love having so many options to choose from! I definitely want to come back to try some items off the seasonal menu like that Lemon Blueberry French Toast! Plenty of parking on the street or in the lot behind the restaurant. I keep going back to this place because the food is absolutely fantastic--everything I've tried tastes amazing, and it's consistently delicious. That said, it seems like they've switched to cheaper flatware recently; the handles have rough or sharp edges that uncomfortably dig into my fingers and hands while eating. It's a small detail

Chicken fried steak (I ordered two, one on top of the other), scrambled eggs with cheese, English muffin, and homemade waffle fries.

Edit: Returned 1 year later (1/2/26) and the chicken fried steak gravy was so bad I couldn't finish it. Tangy in the wrong way, lighter in color than last year, and just straight up didn't taste good. The eggs were overcooked and dried out, and the home fry potatoes were passable but I couldn't eat much of it. To their credit, the service was friendly and attentive and they comped the plate. I hope to hear from Valley that they communicated with the old chef from January 2025 and consulted him to bring back the legendary chicken fried steak that once was.

This is like mom's cooking. Aunt Jemima's syrup, blueberry pancakes, thin bacon, drip coffee. Solid, not over the top. Great to bring kids or grandma. Service was very good, really appreciated my servers friendly attitude. Casual local eatery with no surprises.

A little late on my review but took my mother and my fiancé here and I've been begging to go back ever since. Atmosphere: it's a cute little diner bustling with customers and amazing servers with a sense that reminded me of the country hospitality I am used to. Lively, adorable and inviting in a comforting way. If it's your first time, it won't feel like it. Food: we got a pitcher of mimosas and it was strong and delicious. My fiancé and mom got Ruben's that they both loved. I got a crispy chicken sandwich but I believe it had bbq and no cheese so I got it custom with bacon, cheese, Mayo, etc. (pretty much made it a crispy chicken club that they should DEFINITELY put on the menu because it was the best I've had in a 30 mi radius). I'm telling you if I didn't live 20 minutes away, I'd be there twice a week no doubt. This is THE PLACE.

Diner lunch, with the soft snow falling in the window. #LoveIt

When someone takes over a small business their goal is sometimes not to make changes too quickly then to the detriment of the business some want to quickly make changes. Some changes chase people away. Hodges Cafe had a glorious heyday. Hodge was always a friendly face ready for nice conversation or life advise. The Hodge Burger was award winning in this area; people still crave them. Friday nights were great for a Hodge Burger then walk it off with a walk to the theatre for a movie (now closed) then walk back to Hodges for beers. Sad that most of the neighborhood establishments are gone now. Barberton had quite a few neighborhood places that could be safely walked to from home. It seems to now be a rarity that people can pass along anything and expect the recipient to love it with as much heart as the giver. Your public misses you Hodge.

Nothing super major went wrong, but many little things added up to a not great experience…read more First, the restaurant was colder than we expected, and the bathrooms were absolutely freezing. It was a cold night (20 degrees or so), but I was surprised the restaurant it self was chilly. I'm not usually cold, so it was surprising. Second, I ordered the "Build an Entree" and chose the pork chop and broccolini as my side (it comes with two sides, but I asked for extra broccolini because of my diet). The pork chop comes out covered in this glaze that I find out is a bourbon glaze, but there are onions in it. I cannot eat onions at all (allergy), and nowhere on the menu is it listed that there is a glaze. The broccolini was cooked but was no longer warm. I mentioned these things to our server, and she said that their pork chop has always come with that glaze and it is mentioned on the menu. I asked to see a menu, and the only place the pork chop is mentioned is in this "Build an Entree" section, and no glaze/sauce is listed. The pork also looked slightly undercooked for medium, but maybe that's just me. They cleaned off the glaze and reheated everything, and the food was good. My wife had the salmon and very much enjoyed it. Finally, the check came and everything was priced 4% higher than the menu prices. When I inquired about that, they said it was because of credit card fees, and if we paid in cash, they would remove that fee. I understand the need for credit card fees, but it's not listed anywhere on the menu that they have such a fee, and the fact that it came out with such a fee built in already makes me question whether or not they reduce it unless someone asks specifically. All in all, it just wasn't the quality experience we were hoping for on a date night. I don't think we'll be back any time soon.
