I used to come to this deli all the time, but I hadn't been back in years since I've found an another deli in the area and it had a more desire to my liking. I stopped in today and was amazed at how much it has changed. The new layout looks great, and the updated lighting makes the place feel bright and welcoming. It feels completely different in the best way. The food was even better than I could have ever remembered. Everything tasted fresh and high quality and I will be coming here a lot more often now. Not a terrible spot but terrible location when you are looking for it with your mobile GPS (e.g. Waze, Google Maps) because it brings you to the small plaza where it's at but on the front side where you will not see this place. I was about to drive off until my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to venture to the back of the small shopping plaza and finally found this small hole in the wall. I got some hiking fuel in the form of bacon, egg and cheese on a yummy bagel in the early hours so it was great that this place was open at 8am. Wait wasn't too terrible but I also only had one other person in front of me and as more patrons arrived they were waiting way longer than I was so I could see someone getting frustrated waiting for service. There were a max of maybe 5-6 customers during my visit and some waited well beyond reason just to place an order. But if this is the only shop in town open so early then they get away with this type of slow service. No seating inside so this is a grab your crap and get the freak out kind of place! read more

Last 3 times we've picked up breakfast sandwiches it's been a shit show. Sandwiches were missing bacon one time and the last two times, it took 30 minutes to get our sandwiches even though we called it in & was told 15. Valley Bagel is my favorite place to get a bagel, deli sandwich, chili or cheeseburger and fries. I'm so thankful to have a really good bagel and sandwich place so close to home. The flavored coffees are really good too. This place is popular and during your typical high volume times, you might have to wait a little bit since everything is made to order and this isn't McDonalds. If you are in a rush, you can plan ahead and call in your order prior. They are a fantastic local business and deserve support and patience like all businesses navigating the challenges around COVID. This morning I called Valley Bagel @ 7:07 am to place an order they took the order and told me 15 - 20 minutes , I was in the car already on another errand so I headed over. I arrived at 7:17 I fully expected to wait. What didn't expect is the counter person to be nasty and totally annoyed blurting out it will be another 20 minutes as if she was giving me a penalty for coming early. I was at this establishment the day before and waited 25 minutes because the women there was overwhelmed but as busy as she was never once did she "Bark" at anyone completely professional. Food is always great and we have never had an issue with service; and we have been coming hear for years. Can things get a little busy on the weekends yes, but not unrealistic. Absolutely blown away that a BAGEL shop runs out of BAGELS by mid-morning every weekend! This is not a one time occurrence. It's pretty much every day, including weekends. Anyone with an ounce of business knowledge would up the par so this doesn't happen. You cannot expect people to return to this business when they do not care about their customers. Don't waste your time, energy & money on this place. Hot Bagels Abroad in Hackettstown is a few extra miles & they never disappoint. Thank Jesus this place is under new management and has been turned around. You'd think the coffee/bagel options around Flanders would be infinite but they're a bit limited....not anymore as the new owners of this place are awesome, the place has been completely cleaned and scrubbed from head to toe, and the bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee are perfect for a Jersey deli. Not to mention it's only 15 minutes from me! My wife and I stopped in a few weeks back. I poured a steaming cup of holiday coffee (Christmas coffee? Can't remember the exact name), and my wife had their regular. Coffee was on point. Breakfast being my favorite meal of the day, I was very particular in ordering a taylor ham, two eggs and cheese on a round roll, with salt/pepper/ketchup. Completely typical breakfast sandwich....easy to order and came out as ordered, with a smile. The following week I called ahead and ordered 2 dozen bagels and an assortment of cream cheeses for an office meeting...everything was just as ordered, and they threw in all the utensils, plates, etc. So far they seem really easy to work with and I'd highly recommend calling them ahead of time for all your office meeting needs. All being said, it's a New Jersey deli that gets it right. The food and coffee are good, there's space in time to hang out for a while, and there are plenty of regulars. My wife wants to go back for the Sloppy Joe sandwich...we also heard they are working on some specialty sandwiches besides what's on the menu, so it might be something to ask about. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I've been here many times and the service and prices have always been horrible. The last time I went will absolutely be my last. They are located near rt 80 which makes for an easy on and off but I would rather drive to another exit or all the way into hackettstown to never have to deal with their rude customer service again. The owner is horrible, he's sooooo rude always has been. Acts like your bothering him. Plus the place is dirty and the bagels are horrible. This place sucks, every weekend they run out of bagels by 10 am, WTF? What kind of "bagel" place runs out of bagels? Who is managing this place, obviously a nitwit. Usually if they actually have bagels left (which is a miracle), the egg sandwiches aren't bad. Today, however, I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (on a plain bagel because there were no other bagels left), and there was 1/2 an egg and 1 piece of bacon on it. I then called them (which I never do) to let them know (out of courtesy, not to be an asshole) and some bitch who identified themself as "the owner" proceeded to argue with me. Don't go there!!! If you want a bagel at 11am (still morning) don't come here. They run out of bagels every morning and if they have any left they are super stale and hard as a rock. Great place for a bagel. Always fresh, and fantastic service. The owner Danny, is so nice as are all the workers. Standard bagel joint food. I have not had lunch there but have purchased lunch meat and it is alway fresh. Small in size and not for the claustrophobic but you get a real sense of community just from walking through the doors. I've gone here a couple of times, just for breakfast sandwiches, but I don't know why I went back. The service is ok, but the people there are not very friendly. I've also noticed that they did not wear gloves when preparing the sandwiches and they were touching the money, cash register, and other things, then touching my bagel. They also serve alabaster coffee beans which are a nice treat to take home for my French press. It's a great place and the people working there are awesome and very accommodating to me. This place WAS a great breakfast place. Now it seems as though the staff and owners are more interested in themselves than the customers. My breakfast sandwich was incredibly small for the price. It seemed to be half an egg and one piece of bacon broken a couple times to take up space on the bagel. I walked in and met with a relatively young woman with many tattoos. After I said good morning to her I was met with a look of disgust as if to say what the hell do you want. Wow. I guess common courtesy and friendly greetings are a thing of the past in this place. I was very disappointed to say the least. What a let down on customer service after the last owner. To make it even better. I was sitting quietly watching the news and texting to a friend when the same young woman thought it would be a good time to stock the drink cooler next to me. It's not so pleasurable to have drink bottles slammed on the other side of your small 2 foot square table while you try to make the best of a meager sandwich. I was hoping to make the most of a bad start to the day with just 10 minutes of peace. Oh well. That idea was crushed and with not so much as an excuse me or do you mind if I use your table as a work bench. I have been in several times and was met by the same person with a surly attitude. So much for just a bad day excuse. All the days have been bad I guess. I will be sure to pass by this destination on my way to enjoy breakfast at a more pleasurable spot.
