So my clients picked this spot to get lunch and I ordered and picked up the food. I ordered tuna fish and french fries. The man that took my order was nice and when I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked in and it was a deli/post office. The nice lady asked if I was picking up and I said yes. The food was ready and I paid and left. I dropped off the food and took mine back with me which is kind of far. When I open the sandwich if looked good. I turned it over and found a huge hair in my food . Stopped in for a sandwich for lunch. It is small inside but they have lots of options! I had the turkey club while my husband had the Italian. Wow they don't skimp on meat! Piled high with delicious meat it's one of my favorite sandwiches for sure. The staff were friendly and quick to make the sandwiches. I wish I had grabbed some homemade coffee cake as it looked delicious. I definitely recommend stopping in if your looking for a bite to eat in the area! read more

As a new resident in Long Valley, I was so excited to learn about this general store and it became an almost weekly routine getting sandwiches there while my house was being renovated. There's a lot to love: the historic, rustic aesthetic, and more importantly their sandwiches are legit. The guy who makes the pizza in the back is super kind, and there are some younger college kids who work there who are friendly as well. Unfortunately, though, there have been several occasions where I've gone in to get food and was met by one particular worker who is somewhat rude and abrasive, and on numerous occasions she wanted to talk about her love for Donald Trump (to complete strangers) while rolling her eyes at customers who weren't nodding in agreement. Then today, I went in and she was the only person not wearing a mask, despite every customer wearing one, WHILE making food. If that weren't enough she loudly complained about "this mask nonsense" so the customers could hear her.... I am not one to leave bad reviews for political reasons, but you'd think a business that wants to survive in 2020 wouldn't be so reckless and antagonistic. This place has so much going for it but I'm struggling to remain a patron to an establishment that is purposely ostracizing customers and not taking the pandemic seriously. read more

The food is great, the decor is cozy & rustic, and in my experience, actually going here hundreds of times throughout my life, the people working there have always been nothing but courteous and kind to me. This place is a Long Valley institution that serves up the best sandwiches in town. I live in Jersey City now, and I make the stop every time I come back, cause for some reason I can't get a decent sandwich out here. Recommendations: The #1 with extra vinegar (personal choice). Pair with kettle chips and a Jones Soda for a full flavor experience. The Sausage, double egg, and cheese on a roll. Pepper and ketchup. They use a thick-cut sausage patty that is excellently seasoned, and the double fried eggs are always perfectly cooked. In my opinion, this is one of the top breakfast sandwiches in the tristate. I love to pair this with their dutch chocolate milk. Tastes like heaven. read more

Not sure why this place has some 1 star reviews. It's definitely not a fancy place, but it's not meant to be. The bread is great and the food tastes fresh. Fair prices and friendly employees. Also quick service when we went. If you're concerned about waiting, just call ahead and do the takeout option. Definitely would recommend this place! read more

This store is a lawsuit waiting to happen! I went to the store to mail a letter and almost fell on the deteriorated porch. The wooden railing and porch are rotted beyond repair. This place is a definite tear down. I'm totally surprised that this place has insurance. The new owners who bought this place in 2007 did not keep with repairs. I'm wondering how this place passed a Certificate of Occupancy! Be smart avoid this place, unless you want to fall through the rotted floorboards on the porch! read more

Ha, I'm not sure why this store - which has been around longer than the dirt it sits on - got such mixed reviews. You pop in for your basics (like when you absolutely NEED a Ring Ding and an Italian Sub and don't want to venture down the hill to the Shop Rite), not for a world class dining experience. Overall, it's a decent place to get a sandwich and some coffee.The breakfast sandwiches especially can get pricey fast, but it's a well-to-do area, so go elsewhere if you want to save a few bucks. I think they serve pizza and some other hot foods. Not the greatest, but again, I'm really not sure what you're expecting. There's a post office window here, too. read more

For such an incredibly sweet town filled with such nice restaurants, beautiful churches, rolling farms, and families that are predominantly made up of people that grew up here and either never left or came back to raise their families here, (I digress!) I just honestly don't GET that this place has not been updated or at least made to look like CLEAN nostalgia instead of "UHHHH what just happened" feeling when you walk in. I love the old, but why not make it more "cool" rustic? Daily specials? Rockers on the porch? Small side tables to have lemonade or coffee? Boxed lunch specials bc there are so many hiking trails nearby? Some historic postcards or memorabilia to look at (or buy)...... It just looks like a very old 1/2 stocked deli. I can't complain about the customer service, bc I only went in there once bc we just moved, and they were very nice. But food was eh..... So much potential considering the location. Needs some TLC. They're a deli, they make soups salads and great pizza but for me the real find here is their amazing luscious lemonbars. A deceptively simple seeming bit of deliciousness consisting of a wonderful buttery crust that manages to be moist and tender covered in lemon curd and dusted with powdered sugar. They go great with coffee, they're not too sweet and boarder line addictive! Go for the basics, stay for the lemonbars! read more

Long time customer. Place has seriously gone down hill. I called to make an order for 2 sandwiches over an hour before they close, and was told they stopped taking sandwich orders because they close soon. The extra miles to oldwick are worth it. read more
