Cute little store to grab any food and sundries as need for the convenience instead of driving out to a grocery store. They have a decent selection of souvenirs as well. They also have a dining area and a good list of breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The prices are pretty reasonable since most of their business is people from nearby resorts and just need to pick up a couple of items they may not have packed. I did buy a shirt which had a cute vintage look. The cashier had his back to me and was playing on his phone, so I did have to clear my throat to get his attention. We were the only customers in either the store or restaurant part. IT seems prominent phone use is just bad customer service. read more

What a nice surprise! Camped at the KOA nearby and stopped in at the Shawnee General Store for lunch on a gorgeous sunny fall afternoon. Vegan crunchy veggie wraps, chips, pickle and root beer were just about DEAD SOLID PERFECT! Service was helpful and super friendly. We sat out back on picnic table and soaked up the sunshine. Located right near shawnee the general store is a weird open space with random knickknacks and some T-shirts. Staff didn't seem particularly friendly didn't really have a lot of useful items. The attached deli had a better vibe in the General store. And the staff seem to be nicer. Parking in the lot next-door. Sad We walked from our resort to get a souvenir and a snack but they were closed. They closed early and a young lady was sitting in the store like oh well. This really should be reviewed as 2 seperate places. General store I give a 2, because the items are so limited. More like an outdoor bonfire/fishing store with souvenirs. When you need bread, cereal, basic staples like that...very limited offerings and were out of some varieties and sizes of milk. You need sunscreen or bug spray, it's close. Just not what I needed. Have to go to a supermarket I guess, which is a little ways away. It does also have icecream which I guess is good for a quick dessert fix near our villa. Cafe however I give 4 stars! Fast, friendly service. Great breakfast and lunch offerings. Reasonable. They did run out of eggs during breakfast hour which for a breakfast place is not good. Small dining area is seat yourself. Thankfully I came without my family because there wasn't a seat to be had in dining area. Brought the food back to our villa. We had blueberry pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes and egg sandwiches. All were great! So average out a 2 and a 4, you get 3. read more

My husband and I were staying at a Wyndham Resort which was close to the General Store. We had breakfast there twice on our stay. The ladies were so friendly and kind. The breakfast was delicious as was the coffee. Highly recommend the store. They have items that you might forget to bring on your vacation and them some. Love the feel of this place! We came for breakfast and lunch while visiting town. My breakfast sandwich on a wrap was pretty unfulfilling; there weren't enough eggs or bacon inside at all. But the breakfast platter was a good sized portion meal and the apple butter that came with the toast was amazing. Wish I had gotten that instead! And lunch was delicious. We were on our way back home and stopped to get sandwiches for the road. We got the Lenape on a roll and tomato/mozzarella/pesto with chicken (no lettuce). Both were good but the latter stole the show. Fresh mozzarella and pesto was incredible. Perfect with the fresh tomato and roasted red peppers. I really love coming here every time I'm in the area! The space is quaint and delicious. I usually get a bacon egg and cheese on a everything bagel along with a drink. I have gotten the pancakes before and those are great as well. They have a general store attached but I feel like most of the business comes from the food side. My only issue with this spot is the parking! I wish they were able to expand a bit and make the lot a little better. If not all good, this place is my go to! read more

This is a remote area that gets very bad phone reception. The gang at the Shawnee General Store let me use their phone gratis when mine blanked out. And I needed it, as I was a stranger in the community. You couldn't ask for more. I had their ham and eggs, which was also very good. read more

They have wine tasting in the back of the store. It is only $5 per tasting and you get a wine glass to take home. The wines are from Renegade Winery and are very fairly priced. Our favorites were Guilty (a semi sweet red only $12 per bottle) and Pink Crime (a rosé only $16 per bottle)! The store has many souvenirs and a breakfast and lunch deli attached to the store! This 150+ year old store offers a mixed bag. In one side of the store it sells "penny candy" ($.10 each), fishing supplies, novelty toys for children, handmade local items including soap and pottery. They offer some Poconos/Shawnee merchandise like hats and t-shirts. On the other side is a sandwich shop with a nice selection of fairly priced sandwiches, burgers, cheese steaks, salads and sides. I believe they offer breakfast as well. It's conveniently located to pick up sandwiches and bring back to your resort or they offer a small dine in area. The employees were all friendly and efficient. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. My group and I enjoyed a cheese steak, veggie burger, tuna melt, reuben and balsamic mozzarella sandwich. Most sandwiches are served with a few pickle slices and potato chips. For the price, quality and convenience, it really can't be beat! read more

Unlike the last review this one is great .... the staff informed me today that they saw my last review and apologized for me not liking my burger ... they know I eat cheese steaks from there and they bought me mine today ...so that being said thank you very much .. the cheese steaks are totally mouth watering and always great ....I love them. . This place has been here for over 150 years. It is great for what it is. I love the history and supporting these type of establishments so I had to go in and try their deli and check out the store. They have your basic grocery needs and have a small gift shop that carry Pocconos souvenirs. The deli is small but has a decent price and selection. The sandwich I ordered was delicious and they serve boar's head which I consider pretty good deli meat. The staff was friendly and I heard they have great breakfast served all day. I will definitely go back when I return to East Stroudsburg. They also had a good selection of tasty root beer : ) read more

Used to love coming here, the food was great, there were never any issues. But when the owners split, everything else fell apart. They are always out of ingredients, never have coffee ready. They sell expensive 1-day fishing licenses (not their fault, PA fishing laws blow) but don't rent fishing poles or tackle.
