    Full Size Oli's Mexican Pizza

I ordered a Mexican pizza with Machaka and sour cream. I had no idea what I was in for, this food was sooooo good. I cannot believe I have driven by this place so many times and never stopped! Who knew some of the best Mexican food was right under my nose. The employees are super sweet and the service was awesome. The place looks cool, I will definitely be back with my friends. I am so happy I tried this place today.

I stopped by here on Friday with the fam bam and we all love Valle Luna, we were greeted when we walked in and seated within about 5 minutes. It was very quick. The ambiance in here is nice as well very clean and organized and a darker setting not so bright inside which I like ( it is also not dark either ) it was good. I love their chips and salsa it is soooooo yummy! The chips were made fresh and were nice and warm when it was dropped off to the table, they also have a spicy salsa and that one is pretty hot if you are into spicy stuff. I love just the regular salsa. It is amazing. I ordered the steak fundido with extra jalapeño cream cheese with rice and beans. YUM! Seriously love this meal. My mom got the steak and shrimp fajitas with flour tortillas and it sizzles coming to the table, SMELLS amazing and a cool experience. She also got rice and beans and they serve fixing to add to it like sour cream, avocado, cheese and lettuce. Amazing! My son got the kids burger with fries - the kids burger is pretty decent size! He loved it, no complaints there. My cousins kiddo got the kids chicken tacos with french fries - he loved it as well! Their tacos are also yummy! I love the beef one. Chicken is also pretty darn good. Other kiddo got the 2 bean and cheese kids burrito with a side of rice, she loved it as well. Then another one got the dinner combos 2 Flauta's one chicken and one beef with sautéed vegetables on the side. Our server was good and attentive, checked on us a good amount of times. I liked that! All in all, amazing yummy experience! Thank you!!

    Baja Fish Taco Dinner

Valle Luna, direct translation Moon Valley, is an unsuspecting little Sonoran Mexican restaurant on North Cave Creek Rd. The parking lot was jammed packed when I pulled in and I hoped it wouldn't be a long wait. Upon entering we were greeted immediately and almost as soon we were being walked to our seat. I noticed the place is huge as the led us through several different rooms before seating us. The service was relatively slow but very friendly. I ordered the Baja fish tacos and my mom ordered the chimichanga. The fish tacos were so good. There is some kind of sauce on the taco and that along with the house made salsa was amazing. The chimichanga was good, nothing amazing. Margs were ok. My mom had the classic marg and it was very watered down. I had a skinny marg and it was average. The first one tasted better than the second one. Overall I thought it was good but not amazing. I'll go back for the fish taco and salsa.

Fundido with shredded beef, rice and no beans

This was the third Mexican restaurant we visited while in Arizona. And we LOVED IT! The place had a Spanish-styled home feel on the inside. We made it just in time for the lunch menu and ordered the burrito and their popular dish, Fundido. Both were delicious, with a nice size portion and for a good price. The chips and salsa were good and they kept it flowing as long as you wanted. The best part was the margarita special. $1.99 12oz margaritas. They were very tasty with the right amount of alcohol. This was a fave for us. There are more than one location so please check one out. The service was great as well. Our server was very helpful and the food came out fast!

The food is consistently good and they have great margaritas. Rustic vibe and service is always fun. Gloria is a GREAT server!

Corned beef tacos for St Paddy's day
    Timothy K.

I've keep missing the corned beef tacos on St Paddy's day but this year we made it! I honestly didn't expect much but a novelty but they were surprisingly good. They came out super quick and were so juicy. The corned beef had cheese and a cabbage slaw in a house fried crispy shell. I paired it with the melon margaritas. Can't wait for next year!

Sunday funday is a good day at Valle Luna. About 6 food specials with the taco basket being the clear best choice. Margaritas are still $6-$7. Bartender though is very repetitive.

Located on Cave Creek Road, I had passed by this bar several times and was excited to finally try it out. While I parked across the street at the venue where I was for my event prior, I did notice that they had a decent amount of free parking available. Ambiance (4/5): Cactus Tavern is a dive bar with some Arizona flair. Given the name of the bar, I expected some cactus decor. It did not disappoint...including square lights with cactus cut-outs above each table. There are several high top tables as well as seating at the bar. It's not a huge bar, probably fits 50 people or so, and it was about 90% at capacity when I was there. They also have one pool table. Seems like the type of place where regulars come, which is always a plus in my book. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a great job taking care of us despite being quite busy. She was friendly, efficient, and made some recommendations when I asked for some. Pro tip: they give you a cash discount, so if you'd like to save a little bit, make sure you bring cash. Drinks (4/5): With it being a dive bar, the options are going to be on a simpler side. They had eight or so beers on tap, so not a large selection, but I ended up going with a WOW Wheat. A few local beers, plus some usual suspects like Coors Light, Dos Equis, Modelo, etc. While the selection didn't blow my socks off, the prices are reasonable. That counts for a lot. Food (4.5/5): According to Yelp, Cactus Tavern is known for their quesabirria tacos. Since quesabirria is one of my favorite Mexican foods, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't. You get three quesabirria tacos (birria meat, cilantro, cheese, and onions), fresh off the griddle, served with a green salsa and consommé. These were hands down some of the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were served right off the grill, the meat was flavorful, and the oozy cheese was delicious. With a side of elote (on the cob), it made for the perfect meal. This is not your typical bar food, y'all. It's a notch or two above. I was pleasantly surprised. And like the drinks, the food prices are affordable too. Pro tip #2: if you're looking for deals beyond the cash discount, they have daily discounts on various items including a burger and a pint, Philly cheesesteak, etc. depending on the day.

We ordered drinks and the food at the same time. The waiter walked away within five minutes the food was plopped on our table. The beef stroganoff was literally in a cereal / soup bowl that you would have from home. You know that one bowl that has no other matching set to it. It's the only one that's lasted in the cabinet all those years with the chip. It had no presentation no garnish just a plop of porridge in it that just looked horrible. For $25 I was expecting just a little bit more I went with my sister and we were just to hungry at the time so we tried the food and it didn't even taste good. Maybe it was the sour cream that had gone sour is what it tasted like. The meat was kind of sporadically through the stroganoff I got a lot of large pieces of seared tough meat. The kind of beef that been over cooked too long in a pan and it kind of sticks to the pan. No soft moist meat at all. It didn't have any of the flavors of stroganoff It had the weirdest taste. I didn't taste mushroom. I didn't taste sour cream, it kinda had a taste of a hollandaise sauce, tasted kind of lemony. Honestly, I should've sent it back for $25 for that slop of porridge. I couldn't get a waiter back over to us. I had a hunt down salted pepper just kind of spice it up a little bit. It was utterly disgusting I've had good German food and this isn't the place They had a nice courtyard. A guy was playing some polka music, then switched over to Americanized music. We continue to be impressed by both the quality and creativity of their food. On this visit, I ordered The Pilgrim, which is essentially Thanksgiving dinner wrapped inside a pasty. It features turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and gravy. It arrived absolutely piping hot--seriously, give it a few minutes before taking that first bite--but once it cooled down, it was phenomenal. The combination of flavors was comforting and satisfying, and a little cranberry sauce with each bite provided the perfect balance. My only minor critique would be that the ingredients could have been distributed a bit more evenly throughout the pasty. I also found the gravy slightly more peppery than expected, occasionally overshadowing the stuffing, sweet potatoes, and turkey. Even so, this has become my favorite pasty at Cornish Pasty Co. We also tried the Peppered Steak pasty, which features sirloin, portobello mushrooms, leeks, zucchini, Stilton bleu cheese, and a peppercorn brandy cream sauce. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, especially the steak and the wonderfully flaky crust. For my personal taste, the peppercorn brandy cream sauce was a little more prominent than I prefer, and I found myself wanting more of the steak, mushroom, and Stilton flavors to come through. That's simply a matter of preference, though--it was still a well-executed dish made with quality ingredients. One thing Cornish Pasty Co. consistently gets right is the crust. Every pasty we've had has been flaky, flavorful, and substantial without feeling heavy. This wasn't our first experience with their menu. Over the years we've thoroughly enjoyed the Tikka Masala, the Lamb & Mint (which was a genuine "wow" dish), and the Royale. Those are all excellent choices, but after this visit, The Pilgrim has moved to the top of my personal rankings. Our two pasties came in under $20 each, making for a filling and satisfying meal at a reasonable price. We ordered takeout, and while there was a bit of a wait after we arrived, it's worth noting that these are made-to-order pasties, not fast food. Even though we only ordered a few minutes before arriving, the quality was well worth the extra time. My biggest criticism has nothing to do with the food. While waiting, my wife and I sat inside briefly, and we found the music extremely loud. During our visit, the restaurant was playing Silth, a progressive metalcore band. Musical tastes are obviously subjective, but the combination of the style and volume made conversation difficult for us. My wife eventually decided to wait in the car because it was simply too loud. The restaurant clearly aims for a lively pub atmosphere, with games available and a diverse mix of patrons enjoying themselves, so many people may appreciate that environment. It just wasn't a great fit for us. That said, the food is outstanding, the portions are generous, and we'll absolutely be back. We'll probably continue ordering takeout, but that's a reflection of our personal preferences rather than any issue with the restaurant itself. If you're looking for creative, well-made pasties with high-quality ingredients, Cornish Pasty Co. is definitely worth a visit.

The drink menu was very interesting - I had the Oaxacan Pineapple and asked if it could be made spicy, and it was probably the best drink I'd had all week. Service was great and parking was easy.
