Went to Valle Luna on Cave Creek Road last night. I gave it two stars because my strawberry margarita was very good and our waitress was nice. My partner ordered the six small tacos and I ordered the cheese crisp. He gave me one of his tacos and there was absolutely zero flavor . Shouldn't the beef have some kind of Mexican flavor? I don't think there was even salt! My cheese crisp was just okay--by "okay", I mean totally boring. We have been there a few times in the past but never again! read more

First time visit to this location. Have gone to the west side location often , always great! Went to this location for sister Birthday Dinner. Food was great service was good , we all had a nice evening! Margaritas we very overpriced though. Other than that I give this valley Luna a 4 star visit! Sorry Valley Luna but over $7 for one margarita ( that was only 1/2 full iOS stupid! We had a large party that would have ordered allot of drinks but due to the prices per drink we ALL stopped at that first round an read more

A fan for many years, each location has experienced ups/downs depending on chef. Their Spinach Cheese Dip is worth trying - however, quality is inconsistent as of late. Food always above average for flavor combinations, but interior hasn't been touched in 15+ years looking tattered, worn and uninviting compared to its food. We'll return but much less frequently until they overhaul worn seats and borderline disgusting carpet. read more

Wonderful service from our server and the entire team. All of our meals were great and the margaritas too!!!!

We are usually Manuel diners due to the proximity of it to the schools, but my son commented on how full the parking lot is all the time at Valle Luna, so I mentioned it to Mom and she said we should try. I was surprised because she DOES NOT like Mexican food....but she loved this place. She commented on how the chips were light and crisp, not over salted or greasy at all. This is a big stickler with her when it comes to dining out anywhere. She liked the big chunks of tomatoes and other ingredients in the salsa. We started with a couple of frozen house margs and they came in nice "beer" mugs and were quite tasty. They will probably go down too easy if we go to watch a baseball or football game in the bar area (fair warning). We started with the spinach queso dip and it was really good and it has a hint of spice at the end. One of my sons who puts chili pepper flakes in his mac and cheese said he doesnt think it did. I had the house specialty and it was great. They melt the cheese over the sour cream. Nice touch. My wife had the fajitas and she loved them. My boys had a burrito and the chimichanga and they ate all of it. The service was prompt and Garrett was super friendly. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Great experience all around and we recommend it greatly. read more

Waitress was friendly and efficient. Hostess walked us through the main dining room where there were about 10 empty tables and seated us in the back room all alone. Salsa was bland, chips were greasy, enchiladas were not good, especially the chicken one. read more

When I used to live at Tatum in Union Hills this valley Luna, I went to often and I often left with a salsa stain on my shirt from their bottomless chips that you could get as a way to wait for your food to come and they had awesome chicken, chimichangas, and enchiladas with just regular sour cream or salsa each location is awesome. The one on Bell Road had a cranky waitress, but she was a good waitress. She never got anything wrong and would always keep our cups full and if we got drinks, we would always have some good drinks on order if we need needed more or wanted more and she would also top us off when she knew we were getting rowdy read more

My roommate and I have eaten there and orders several times. Every time everything is perfect. My roommate loves their Fundido, and everything I've tried has been really, really good. Our experiences in the restaurant have always been good. Customer service is great friendly and the staff is knowledgeable about their menu items. They will listen to your questions and answer them to the best of their abilities, which is really nice. I highly recommend this business. read more

We took the family out for a Christmas lunch and just wanted to say what an awesome experience we had. As expected, the food was awesome and the customer service from our waiter Angela was the best we've ever received! She was kind, professional, experienced and worked so hard to take great care of us. She is absolutely the best. Thanks Angela to you and your team for a great dining experience and we wish you all a Merry Christmas. Thanks, the Campbell family. read more

Love this restaurant it's definitely family environment. Great food great service. The ambience is awesome and drinks are great as well.

Dawn is amazing. She always remembers what I want and takes great care of me and anyone I bring with me. I love Valle Luna. Delicious food and great service. I highly recommend the LunaRita. Ask to sit in Dawn's section. read more

Always delicious! Never disappointed. Food servers are prompt, friendly and they get your order right. Sometimes it gets a little noisy, but it's just because so many people eat there. The wait is usually under 15 minutes. If you're with a larger party, call ahead and request the small room towards the back, it's private and quiet. read more

The chile verde is CRAZY good! I also loved the chicken fundido burrito. I took pictures but I had already dived into the food! Pardon the mess! Their chips are light and crispy and the salsa is mild. They give you a hotter one to add to it. Ale, our waitress was excellent. Knowledgeable and friendly. They are super busy here. A lot of to-go traffic, too. Parking is a bit tight, but honestly, this place is worth it! Yum! read more

Their mini chimis are always fried perfectly and chicken is tasty inside. This is my go to item!

Very ordinary Mexican food and not sure what the hype is all about. Really old restaurant with dim lighting and nothing modern about it. The Chicken Fajitas were less than ordinary and had no Mexican authentic taste. The vegetables were over cooked and lacked any flavors. The Rice and beans were filled with cheese and tortillas had a weird fragrance. And the most important mark of a good Mexican restaurant is there salsa but this tasted more like bottled than fresh. Overall, really mediocre food and ambiance. read more

It's packed, but you can still chat over some of the best Mexican I've had in a while! Mango margarita my SIL had was good as were her fish tacos. I didn't have much of an appetite but somehow finished a small Mexican pizza with great shredded chicken. Fundido? Excellent. Five people? Two cocktails... $105 read more

This is the worst place in the world. I ordered tacos combination with beans and rice. No utensils, no salsa, no beans and one bite was bland grease. Then when I called, the manager yelled and threatened me!!! read more

The food is always so good! They can be very busy at times but this last time we had an amazing experience sitting at the bar. We come back often. Love their food - my favorite place to dine for Mexican food. I find their fajitas the best in the valley.

The cheese crisps were amazing. I grew up going here with my grandma getting the cheese crisps every time I would visit. They are still amazing every time. read more

Very disappointed with the Service and our to-go meals. We ordered meals to eat in and two to take for our spouses at home. There was a misunderstanding with the order and then a second misunderstanding. The manager HEIDI came to bring the to-go meals after they had been prepared incorrectly. She appeared to be insincere and made it seem like we were the ones to blame. then when we got to our separate homes, the comments about each of the to go meals was that the chicken was full of gristle. We've been customers at Valley Luna for over 30 years. There's never been an occasion like this where they didn't stand behind their mistake and make it right. I would give this a negative on the "star" scale below if I could read more

Visiting our daughter and she brought us here for dinner. Very Mexican vibe, very busy. Despite being told the wait was 20-30 minutes, we were seated within 5. Great service, good food. My wife and daughter had carne asada tacos that they really enjoyed. I got the "Fundido", a type of burrito with homemade jalapeno sour cream topped with melted cheddar and filled with chicken. Very good. We'll be back! read more

Tex-Mex restaurant. Good pricing for average food. Lucked in for $1.99 margaritas-fun but not great. 6 of us had a friendly dinner for less than &100. Will probably try another once next time I'm in town. Service was great!!! read more

Some of the better Mexican food you will find in Arizona, and we have done our homework over the last decade living here. Excellent service, a high energy ambiance, but just really great Mexican cuisine. Great margaritas, chips and salsa. read more

I've been going to Valle Luna since this location opened (mid-80's). I worked here in high school, and when I left the military, they took me in and helped me get going again through the transition process. The food has ALWAYS been consistent. I've never had to send an item back, and I've always enjoyed the food I've ordered. 100% this is Arizona/Sonoran Mexican food, or just food as we call it in my home. If you haven't tried one of their hamburguesas (called the Luna Burger now), I highly recommend it for a change of pace. The bar is a great local place to watch some sports and/or grab a drink. Every bartender I've know over the years had stayed here forever (Ian, Chris) and are/were loved by the community that they created. As with any restaurant, the people change, and you get some bad, and some good, but management is always present and visible, and ready to make things right. read more

We've been coming here for many years... more than two decades (wow!) and it has been consistently delicious. We live on the opposite end of the valley now and don't make it here as often any more. (We prefer this location to the others, maybe for sentimental reasons: we'd bring our kids here when they were little.) Don't expect a "fancy" place. It's old-school. The service has always been great and the food top notch. I really like the pollo fundido (there's a reason it says it is they're most popular dish), but I was running the next day and had to go "light" this time: no beer, no margarita, not too many chips and no fundido. :( I made do with a pair of machaca tacos and the frijoles de olla. The beans are awesome. Don't just get refried. The whole beans topped with pico are amazing. Just save some for me. The tacos were good, though by the time I got to my second one, it was a bit soggy on the bottom and fell apart. I'm going to be thinking about that fundido (cover it with red hot sauce when it hits your table) until I can get back there, but the beans made this trip worth it. read more

Tonight we went to this restaurant for my birthday. We got there and it was so hot in there we were sweating and had to keep our menus after we ordered in order to fan us off. We ordered our food and then proceeded to spend $70 on a meal that I made a sick and within an hour and a half my boyfriend was throwing up and it was also coming out the other end. I would definitely not recommend this place as when you're going for a good food experience you want to be comfortable and enjoy yourself as this is what you are paying for valle Luna has gone way downhill. We told the manager about her experience we got nothing comped and he did not care about our complaints at all. I was trying to complain in the nicest way possible.. I just feel if we're going to spend the money that the experience should be wonderful. It was anything but! $70 for a gross sweaty meal that made us sick! In this economy we all deserve to be taken care of when we decide to pay way too much money to go out & treat ourselves. Nandos is great usually read more

I DoorDash the Sonora Toto platter from Valley Luna today. Do not order this they lie and do not give you what's expected and the manager. Kelly doesn't listen what you have to say and tells you you're talking over her when she won't listen to the customer it clearly states on there that the chimney comes with Chicken or beef instead i got all beans! then she started saying what was in each item and I'm trying to explain to her. That's not what I got but instead, she wasn't listening to me at all. I lost my shit on her and hung up the phone. I will never ever go back to this valley Luna this is the second time I've DoorDash and I should've known the first time not to do it again. They are clearly ripping off the consumer trying to give beans and instead of beef to save money on their end this manager Kelly needs to be managed on her customer service skills and learned to listen to the customer not just read me off of the menu says because that's clearly not what I got. read more

Food was OK. Service was OK we have a toddler we were sit in a area where highchairs are not allowed. It was not busy it was almost empty. It's so sad when you live near a restaurant for years, enjoying your regular visits there - but you move to the other side of the valley. We were coming back from a road trip and had the chance to pay Valle Luna a visit again and it was just as good as I remembered. The chips and salsa are excellent- always a harbinger of a terrific meal. I got a lunch-sized shredded beef chimi and it was everything I hoped it would be. Make sure you request the frijoles de olla with your meal instead of the plain old refried beans. I don't know what they do, but those beans are amazing. My husband is a known menu-walker. He insists on trying new things. Once he walks through Valle Luna's doors though, he seems powerless to order anything but their Fundido since he loves it so much. Valle Luna, would you look into opening a NE Mesa location? read more
