I've been coming to Valle Luna for years, their food is the classic mexican food you'd expect. The thing that will always have my family and I coming back is the atmosphere and the staffing they have. Everytime I come here I get the sweetest servers, food runners and bussers. I always see the Manager (the nice blonde lady) saying "Hey!!! How are ya?" to the old timers and regulars, it's refreshing to see a manager actually care for the customers who keeps coming back. Tonight I was seated with James, Ive been with him before. He does everything with a smile, is very kind and super attentive. Being a server myself, I appreciate things like this a little more. Next time Ill be requesting him, his presence radiates all shades of wonderful, even when he's busy. I love this place and I'll always come back. I hope that the owners and everyone who plays a part and making sure this place runs knows how awesome they really are. No matter how busy, how tired or how terrible a day could be going- they'd never let it show. Great team. read more

Had our 43rd. Anniversary lunch today. Been going to Valle Luna locations for many many years. Usually very good. Today was made even better in part due to Taylor, our server. Very accommodating, friendly, and served us a delicious desert in celebration! Will always frequent the Luna locations read more

Great Mexican restaurant, love the environment, my server was super kind, very professional, always asking if everything was ok, ready for us all the time, my favorite Mexican food place. Border tacos are amazing and steak fundido is the best. I think everyone who loves Mexican food should try this Restaurant. read more

GROSS AND DISGUSTING- what happened? I used to live in area and the food was really good. Now it smells in there like damp and sewer and the furniture and carpet are dated. The food is nasty! Tortilla chips are over cooked. POLLO FUNDIDO is supposed to be shredded chicken crispy tortilla and cream cheese. we got greasy stewed chicken meat, soggy tortilla, a smear of cream cheese. I asked the server why my fundido wasn't crispy and she told me that the cheese makes it soggy! Obviously she's never had a decent fundido - only the garbage they serv there. and when I asked for more cream cheese they charged me for it. Next time I want pollo fundido ill go to carlos obrians. But ill never go back to valle luna on cave creek, so disappointing and not worth the $32 we spent on 2 lunch entrees. read more

Our go-to Mexican place, as it is for many people - parking lot still full, despite only 50% internal seating capacity. The staff is always friendly and attentive, margies are great, especially the mango version that is on special on Fridays. I also like the Sagria Rita. All the classic dishes too, and always enough to take home. This is our place! read more

We used to come to this place all the time but they changed their menu and increased their prices. Had been quite a while since we've come back but on Easter not much was open. We decided to give it another shot and I'm glad we did, it was delicious. Tacos were as they should be -where they deep fry the tortillas themselves. I also got an enchilada with green sauce which was very tasty. My husband got the red chili burrito with green sauce, also very good. Everything came out as ordered and we were very pleased with the service. One of the only margaritas on the happy hour menu was a raspberry margarita which isn't usually my favorite, but turned out to be really good. read more

What a great experience we had. From the beginning until the end of the meal things went just perfect. Host greeted us with an upbeat voice since there is no noticeable smile these days. Great job! We sat with Britney and she really didn't ever let us go unattended. Refills before we we ask, hot food delivered quickly and the skillet is still smoking .. love that. Kelly was just as sweet as our deep fried ice creAm... This is by far better Mexican food than what I've been allowing myself. I will now start being a regular. Thank you all for the best experience I could had ask for. One happy guest here who happens to have a large following on social media, and is always recommending new restaurants to try to everyone daily! read more

We chose to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday at Valle Luna. After eating, one of the family members asked if there were spiders on the wall. When we turned around we saw tiny ants crawling up and across the wall. It wasn't as if there were just a few. There were literally hundreds. One was even on the to-go box when we got home. We were rushed out of there. My mother-in-law was told she could get a 20% discount because we had already finished our meal and didn't say anything earlier. She then was only given 10% off instead of the 20%. There were 13 of us and within that group 8 of us are adults who have choices in where to dine out. The room was dim and had we seen the ants before, we definitely would have said something. Some of the food was cold and one of the orders was wrong. None of us are complainers. However, I think it was handled in a rude manner and as if we were the ones at fault. I am very upset and sad at the way we were treated and the situation handled read more

This place was recommended to us while my mother and I were shopping at the Anthem Outlets so we decided to give it a try. It was just ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I would say it's pretty average. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. So this review isn't a bad review but I wouldn't travel to eat there again. read more

"Went to Valley Luna on a Sunday for the specials I found using the Happy Hour app. $2 drafts and mimosas. Got there asked about the specials, they would not honor those prices, said they're $2.50. I decided to leave and the waitress bad mouthed me to my girlfriend..." read more

I really liked the food here and the service was good, but the noise level was horrendous. You can't hear the person sitting across the booth from you it's so loud. Plus they had four hostesses all standing around talking. They were very rude instead of greeting customers. Place could certainly use a renovation. They also might consider a few more vegetarian options. read more

We went out to dinner for the first time in months. You have to wear a mask in but once you are seated, you can remove your mask. They practice social distancing when seating and we were early enough (around 5pm) that our area was mostly empty (there was a socially distanced line waiting though when we were leaving). Food and service were excellent. We always enjoy coming here and will be back read more

We went for the first time on our anniversary, from a recommendation and now have our favorite Mexican cuisine in the valley. Hopefully you get Irene as your server. Best service, food and ambiance. LOVE IT!! read more

I want to give a higher rating, the food was a 4, the service was a 2, the menu on the table was a 1. We thought we were ordering happy hour margaritas but when the bill came they were full price. I guess the little menu they put on the table only had a few items that apply when you dine in. Not cool. read more

Very very rude on the phone!! Driving business away! When I called I was trying to order food my few people and the person on the phone just didn't wanted to take the order making very difficult ... When we got our food it was all messed up... She never gave us our salsa . Just sad to have that experience when the location on 35th n bell is so amazing! read more

If you like wasting your time try going to get Lunch at the bar. Hello!! Is anyone here?? Not that busy at all. I was hungry on my lunch break. I walked out! Never again read more

We have been coming here for years, to come to find out tonight they, for whatever reason, decided to change their hot sauce. Changing something unbroken!! Now it's just watered down (cutting corners) and supposedly more spices (watered down). We sent all of it back, unfortunately. Then the cheese-crisp was missing significant amounts of cheese (cutting corners). Unfortunately we won't be xomin read more

I don't know what's going on with this place. The food used to be pretty good and the service was acceptable. I went today and when the food came it wasn't even hot. The bowl of Albondigas had only two meatballs and was only lukewarm. My chile relleno was closer to cold that hot, and the sauce was even colder. There was no way the food was in compliance with health regulations. The service was awful; my water glass was never refilled. To top it off, I was double charged for an item. The serber obviously didn't check the bill for accuracy before giving it to me, or knew it was inaccurate and didn't care. This place is not inexpensive. In fact, it's among the higher priced Mexican restaurants. My bill was 40 dollars for two people and included only one drink. I will not go back. I really hate getting overcharged for food and service that is worse than mediocre. read more

Valle Luna is an amazing restaurant and bar. They have homemade tortilla chips and salsa as an appetizer. They were heavenly. I ordered the chicken fajitas and a strawberry margarita. I must say that this was one of best meals I have had in ages. The staff was energetic and friendly. Great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Valle Luna to everyone. read more

I lived in Mexico for six years, and I have to say this place has some of the worst Mexican food I've ever tried. I've had better Mexican food in Hong Kong!!! The waiters are slow, and leave a lot to be desired in terms of manners. The food tastes like nothing more than grease with cheese. read more

It's americanized versions of mexican food. Don't go here if you're looking for the real thing, only the american-washed version of the real thing. The wait staff is usually pretty ok, but the hostesses are by far the worst. I don't understand how they even got jobs as the face of the restaurant/first person you see when you walk into the establishment. They always seem to be teenage girls who are too busy talking to each other to give a damn about customers coming in. When they do turn around to service you, they act like you're ruining their day instead of paying them their paychecks. :P Also, if you're under 65 I don't recommend going during the day, it's a Senior Citizens playground before happy hour. read more

I have been going to this location for a few years. The last 3 visits were lacking in good service, or good food. First time, I brought it to wait staffs attention. Not much help. The second time, I actually called the next day to speak to a manager on duty. Manager told me to send the entrée back at time of service, to have it corrected. 3rd visit in a row, I sent the entrée back, got argumentative service, and just was not satisfied with the food that was coming out of the kitchen. Don't know what changed. We were addressed by a manager on duty. No suggestion = equals even more bad service. Asked to have our untimely meals, that were served separately, (like my dining party to eat together), boxed and left. Horrible dining experience. I then emailed the restaurant the next day to get an explanation. Never got a response. This was too many visits in a row, to say it was an off day. Too much of a pattern here at this location. Won't bother going back. Too bad, with the restraints of covid , we were participating in the 2020/2021 tip challenge with wait staff in dining establishments everywhere, during this hard hit time for servers. I will wait a long while before I try another Valle Luna , but probably won't be back to this one. read more

Had not been here in a very long time, but was in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. It was packed (Friday night) with a 20 minute wait - but the food and service were great!! We will be going back!! read more

Just stopped in for a drink and a cheese crisp, what a disappointment this trip was. First cheese crisp was burnt and the second was raw the only good thing was they didn't try to charge us. No manager stopped by they just said we are free to go, what has happened to service. read more

I have been going to Valle Luna since high school in the 80s Moved to Florida ten years ago and get super excited when traveling to Phoenix for some real authentic Mexican. As soon as the chips and salsa came out I knew something was wrong. Salsa was straight garbage Pace or chopped tomatoes straight out of the can. The chips were not the same great fresh fried chips most Arizona restaurants serve Not even good bagged chips Yuck. The menu is all chopped up so I just ordered the standard shredded beef chimichanga. I don't think the grease had been cleaned recently and the chimi was brown in color. The beef was very salty. Wife was not very hungry so she ordered just basic cheese enchiladas the red sauce was definitely subpar. The waitress a young girl named Meagan was horrible she did not seem to interested in working. Had zero personality. Our bill came to 92 dollars I am a very good tipper but I couldn't just feel bad for her and tip well. My mom worked at the Bell road location in the 80s and always did great on tips. Maybe Meagan should just collect COVID payments Instead of having a job . Did they sell to new owners? Not returning going to Macayos from now on read more

This place is a tasty locally owned Mexican restaurant. Salsa and chips are good. We've never had an issue using the Yelp check-in offer. The food comes out quick and our service has always been good. This place is worth checking out, not to mentioned you're supporting a long standing Valley business. :-) read more

This place was amazing very authentic .... hands down one of the best Mexican places I have been to in the pheonix area customer service/ waitress was incredidible very attentive and catered to our need I would definately come back to this place mmm mmm great as Tony the tiger would say :-) come on down read more

Love this place! We've been coming here every Friday for 2 years. The food is the best Mexican around (and we've tried them all). The service is always great. Only drawback is the limited parking but it's worth the hassle. read more

Great food and great service from Ian who recommended the fundito and for us to split it!

I placed a somewhat large order for my daughter's college graduation party. I included very specific instructions in how I needed to have the different items packaged and labeled. When my husband picked up the order, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that my crazy instructions were followed flawlessly! The food was delicious (no surprise there) and there were virtually no leftovers. Will absolutely trust them with future catering needs! read more

The steak is bomb. It is the definition of perfection. Service could have been a little bit better

We've been going there for years. I've noticed a steady decline in quality recently. Today was our last time. Prices up...Portions down. We pick our orders up. If you're going to pay $4.90 for a taco you should at least get the taco. $7.95 for 4 oz. cup of spinach con queso. Instead of the large bag of chips they used to give you with it they put about 15 chips in a condiment bag. I ordered the pork fundido. Pork was very dry and there was very little cream cheese. We were really disappointed read more

I haven't ever received customer service as bad as i had last night, from any restaurant ever!! The host rather be on their phones finishing up texts than attending to customers . We ordered a chimichanga that was so burnt idk why the cook would let a server even bring it out , and my prickly pear margarita had syrup at the bottom of the glass and it didnt even taste like prickly pear . Ive ordered takeout, just to see that a lot of the items that i odered weren't sent home with me. The manager seemed uninterested when i called and he said i was welcome to go back to pick up the things i had ordered. The inconvenience wasn't acknowledged. I've been to Valle Luna twice, and both experiences have me unhappy. Ive work in a restaurant for many years and it amazes me how bad the customer service is at this place . Get it together read more

After reading the reviews about this place, I just had to go and check it out. There was alot of people but not overcrowded, it was alot of families and there kids. The food was awesome!! I had the fundido with jalapeno cream cheese and it was so good!! It had this awesome unique taste to it where you just couldnt stop eating, even when full. This was the only place that makes there mexican rice exactly like my moms!! It was delish! You can tell there refried beans were very authentic. Ive been to alot of mexican restaurants and this one is by far the best! read more

Valle Luna is the BEST Mexican food place in Phoenix! I have never been disappointed and always leave stuffed and oh so happy! I'm not a big tamale fan at all from stores/restaurants but this place does the so good! Chips and salsa are the best always! Margaritas are yummy yummy with 1800. Everything I have tried I have loved and so has my fiancé and another person I've gone with!! Service has always been good to us...the first time was the best "/ but I have not seen her in awhile. I love the coupons I get all the time for free dinners!! GREAT way to get me in there even on my diet ") thanks for making some good Mexican food!! read more

Great food! Great prices and special nights for family and children. Even when they are really busy the wait goes by quickly. Well worth any wait there ever is. Go early on the special nights. Parking lot gets full! Service is good. read more

I love Valle Luna. I can't eat tomatoes at all or spicy foods which is a bummer because I LOVE Mexican food. I order the fajitas as they don't have a lot of hot peppers and red sauce but DOES have good flavor. I have had the chicken and the beef fajitas and love both. The chicken is mild with almost no heat but good spice flavor. The beef is tender and has a little heat but not too much that I can eat it without any issues. The onions and peppers that come with it are done very well not too soggy but not crisp. The seasonings they use are true seasonings that don't affect my allergies. Many Mexican restaurants use an all spice that stuffs up my nose right away but not Valle Luna, I am very happy about this :) For the food restrictions I have Valle Luna is a place I can enjoy Mexican food. read more

This had been my favorite Tuesday night restaurant. My husband and I went so often that the waiters and waitress in the bar area knew our order. We ordered fajitas from the senior menu. We had not been able to go for a few weeks due to personal reasons, and went tonight and were not happy to see that the Tuesday night senior menu has now changed, and fajitas are no longer on it. Also you now have to both order a drink. I can't have caffeine or sugar and only drink water. So that is now another issue. I could order a soda and just not drink it. But unfortunately without the fajitas on the menu, we won't be going back anymore. They lost a very good customer over this. Before this it was a 4 star restaurant. read more

The food & the atmosphere are incredible. I feel like the steak burrito gets better every time I go. Cant beat the happy hour in the cantina either, with great margs and chips/salsa. read more

I'd eat here more often - in fact, I'd been coming here for ten years - because the food is really pretty good and the salsa is excellent, but the some of the wait staff are haughty and argumentative, and the management makes it clear that they don't care. I eat out to relax, not to have a rude, scowling teenage waitress debate and argue with me, then turn her back and walk away. Valle Luna is a busy spot here. I guess they have so much business that they don't care if they lose some. Manuel's has food at least as good, if not better, and it's only a mile south of Valle Luna. We go there now. read more
