All three had flavor, personality, and just enough mess to prove they don't skimp on the good stuff. (If your taco doesn't drip, did you even taco?) For dessert, I went all in with the Cheesecake Chimi. Imagine cheesecake got invited to a cinnamon-sugar carnival and decided never to leave. Crunchy, sweet, and dangerously addictive. The service was fast, the place was clean, and my only regret is that I didn't order extra napkins up front. Verdict: Come for the tacos, stay for the chimi, and wear a shirt you're not afraid to baptize in salsa.

Walking in, it smelled delicious. I saw people plates and the food looked great, so of course I was excited for our meal and almost regretting that we got carryout. The staff were very nice and told us to make sure we come back to dine in (I'll be back ASAP!). Our food was delicious!! I had the Birria torta and my husband got an assortment of tacos (which of course I tried), we also shared the chori queso. The bread from the torta was fresh and soft and loaded with meat, it did get a little soggy but I wasn't bothered considering it was birria. I especially loved their salsas, they were both packed full of flavor and the red one had a nice kick. We enjoyed all of the tacos, al pastor, steak, campechanos, and quesa birria. They were a good size and very flavorful. The chori queso was pretty good, it wasn't overly greasy like some others I've had and the chips were fresh. Overall this seems like it will be a great spot, Delaware has plenty of Mexican Restaurants to choose from but Hacienda offers some different options I haven't seen at the others. Happy to have them in the area!

4 to 5 stars for the "Ostrich!"…read more Bottom line: This is a fun place with really good food. FOOD: We had 6 different taco plates and small plates. Only the pork belly tacos were sub par (the pork belly was over done - dry and tough). The seasoning on EVERYTHING (including, I might add, the pork belly tacos) was really great. The tamale bites and dipping sauce were my personal favorite. Not sure I wanna know the nutritional information for that one, but the dish was outstanding. My wife got both the raw oysters and baked oysters...whatever...she loved both. SERVICE: Stephanie did a great job of getting our order right, and keeping the food coming. She made excellent suggestions; important because we didn't know the menu. ATMOSPHERE: Fun and loud. It's a little too loud to have an intimate conversation, and it doesn't have the same amount of personality as a similar place, Deseo (in Cricket West), but it's fun, clean, and new. DRINKS: If you're drinkin', Avestruz is serving some pretty good cocktails. I'd give this category to Deseo, as well however. Overall, Avestrutz is a great addition to this part of town. For upscale Mexican, I'd give the nod to Deseo, BUT, we will come back here...plenty. 5 stars, for now.

With the sheer number of dining options in Toledo, we almost never hit the same spot twice in one…read moremonth--so the fact that we showed up at Avestruz twice in one week? That's saying something. Now, let's talk about "Ostrich Towne"--yes, that's what it's called. The branding is... let's go with "mysterious," and from the outside, it's hard to tell there's something amazing happening in there. But oh, there is. If you wait too long to try Avestruz, you're going to kick yourself when it blows up and the lines wrap around the parking lot. We found out about it through friends who were basically raving about how often they've been going--like, suspiciously often. And on our first visit, a packed Friday night with a line out the door, I got it. I was already late to the party. But then we went back that Wednesday, snagged a seat fast, got our food even faster, and realized: we've still got time to squeeze in a few more visits before patio season hits and Ostrich Towne goes full unhinged. Inside, Avestruz is spotless, modern, and way more stylish than you'd expect from a place parked in a development named after a large flightless bird. The menu? Wildly creative but laser-focused in flavor. The Caesar salad (yes, really) might be the best in Toledo. The tacos? Incredible. Oysters? A dream. Queso and chorizo dip? Say goodbye to self-control. It's all dialed in. The staff is genuinely hyped to be there, and the family behind the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. Plus, the whole thing is part of this surprising revival in a part of Toledo that had basically been in hibernation for decades. Bottom line: get yourself to Avestruz Tapas & Tequila before you start hearing everyone else talk about how they went before it got cool. You've been warned.

We have been loyal customers for…read moremore than 30 years following them as WE moved then they relocated to the Polaris area and yet we prioritize eatting at this family owned small business We visited on the perfect June day. Clouds are threatening rain but the day is in the 70's and inside/outside patio doors are open. After a warm greating, we were seated and our favorite chips and salsa were delivered . We are off to a great start! The salsa is house made with chunks of tomato, onion, peppers sourced from New Mexico and other spices that come together perfectly. This is one of those things you want a day old - it gives the flavors a chance to deepen and is the best salsa EVER. Our son joined us for lunch (which was a treat for us). BUT he is deeply committed to their kid's Mac & Cheese. (SMH) and the chips and salsa. Dont blame us; he was raised better than that! Hubs and I ordered the Lunch Shredded Beef Burrito. (Our favorite meal at Chili Verde.). The beef is fork tender and so flavorable. Wrapped in a fresh tortilla and served with your choice of red or green sauce on top. We opted to use that awesome salsa to top our burtito tableside. Lunch burritos include one side. Rice and beans are the default options but I ordered the corn and hubs ordered the mashed potatoes. Dinner includes 2 sides and a larger burrito. The mashed potatoes are hand-mashed with a few chunks here and there and lightly spiced. These potatoes are a family favorite. The corn is whole kernals seasoned with onions and bacon and lightly sweetened. This is my all time go-to! Hubs also recommends the pinto beans. Served as a whole bean served in a little gravy/liquid; the side dish is peppery and yummy. The secret is out about this restaurant and it is always busy. I recommend making a reservation through open table before you visit. I posted pics of today's lunch including our empty plates that we easily could have licked clean!

We each had different dishes-- Green Chile Stew, Three Sisters (I asked for a combo of chorizo and beef and they said, "Of course!"), Sandia Sopapilla with shredded beef. All were excellent and were attractively plated-- it wouldn't have mattered, but it was those little extras that really elevated the experience. We were also given a bowl of their latest salsa to try-- sweet and mildly spicy watermelon! We are regulars here and always enjoy the food and the pleasant ambiance, but this brunch was truly exceptional. We ended our meal with a plate of puffy Sopapillas with honey to share. Delicious! **This is New Mexican and NM-inspired food, not the same as Mexican or Tex-Mex.** If you're not familiar with it, you may ask for samples of sauces and meats before you order! NM cuisine is less about piles of cheese and taco shells and more about the flavors of their regional peppers (which they fly in fresh here!). It's a blend of Mexican, Spanish and Pueblo Indigenous foods, not American-Mexican. And yes, you still get great chips & salsa, but you're going to want to pass on the refills to make room for the stars of the meal-- the e

This is easily one of the top Mexican joints in all of Fort Wayne. It's a huge restaurant that was surprisingly dead for lunch, granted it was a Monday. It's a nicely decorated place, the service was friendly and really fast (food was out in less than 10 minutes), and the food was simply awesome. Their chips and salsa are outstanding... I could literally drink the salsa. You get a ton of food for the lunch portion (way too much to eat in one setting), so I can only imagine the size of their dinner portions. $30 for lunch (2 people) is a steal in today's restaurant price-gouging times. CDM might be our new "go to" Mexican joint, and it's certainly our favorite on the NE side of town.

We sat there and looked around but no one stopped over. There was a 6 top, 3 top, and 4 top there. The restaurant was pretty empty. So we left and the hostess who sat us said "have a nice night, and I told her no one ever came over" The chips were fresh but that's all we received. The restaurant was dead and quiet. There was no reason no one waited on us.
