I will start by admitting that we are HUGE Chilli Verde fans. We have been loyal customers for more than 30 years following them as WE moved then they relocated to the Polaris area and yet we prioritize eatting at this family owned small business We visited on the perfect June day. Clouds are threatening rain but the day is in the 70's and inside/outside patio doors are open. After a warm greating, we were seated and our favorite chips and salsa were delivered . We are off to a great start! The salsa is house made with chunks of tomato, onion, peppers sourced from New Mexico and other spices that come together perfectly. This is one of those things you want a day old - it gives the flavors a chance to deepen and is the best salsa EVER. Our son joined us for lunch (which was a treat for us). BUT he is deeply committed to their kid's Mac & Cheese. (SMH) and the chips and salsa. Dont blame us; he was raised better than that! Hubs and I ordered the Lunch Shredded Beef Burrito. (Our favorite meal at Chili Verde.). The beef is fork tender and so flavorable. Wrapped in a fresh tortilla and served with your choice of red or green sauce on top. We opted to use that awesome salsa to top our burtito tableside. Lunch burritos include one side. Rice and beans are the default options but I ordered the corn and hubs ordered the mashed potatoes. Dinner includes 2 sides and a larger burrito. The mashed potatoes are hand-mashed with a few chunks here and there and lightly spiced. These potatoes are a family favorite. The corn is whole kernals seasoned with onions and bacon and lightly sweetened. This is my all time go-to! Hubs also recommends the pinto beans. Served as a whole bean served in a little gravy/liquid; the side dish is peppery and yummy. The secret is out about this restaurant and it is always busy. Very friendly, efficient and timely service from the host to our waitress despite the fact that every table was full. We tried brunch on Easter (made reservations) and it was fantastic! We each had different dishes-- Green Chile Stew, Three Sisters (I asked for a combo of chorizo and beef and they said, "Of course!"), Sandia Sopapilla with shredded beef. All were excellent and were attractively plated-- it wouldn't have mattered, but it was those little extras that really elevated the experience. We were also given a bowl of their latest salsa to try-- sweet and mildly spicy watermelon! We are regulars here and always enjoy the food and the pleasant ambiance, but this brunch was truly exceptional. We ended our meal with a plate of puffy Sopapillas with honey to share. Sunday was my third time visiting Chile Verde and it was my second time for brunch. My friends, my dog and I enjoyed our meal on their patio. Our server was friendly and provided great service. I started my meal with a beer. They offer many popular Mexican Lager style beers on draft and in cans. They also have rotating drafts. I opted for an IPA draft. The beer paired well with the chips and salsa. I struggled making a decision as many brunch items looked great. I landed on the Hueveos New Mexican. This was different from most brunch items I tried but it was very good. The green chile pork had a bit of heat for me but I still enjoyed it. The tortillas, sauce and queso were all excellent. Whether you are looking for brunch, lunch or dinner I recommend giving Chile Verde a try. They are three for three in my limited sample size. read more

Tex-Mex restaurant that seems very family friendly. Not necessarily large in seating but can hold a decent size group if needed. Interestingly enough, they were still offering lunch menu options at 5 PM. I went with one of my favorites, Chicken and Steak Fajitas. Should have done the lunch portion size because it was huge! Had to take it home. The black beans were my favorite part because it had a peppery note to them. The hot salsa was nice but wish it would be hotter. Complimentary chips and salsa were constantly being refilled. One of the guest said this was the best salsa she has ever had! The mocktail was nice comparable to a traditional Agua Fresca. We walked into Chili Verde in Polaris thinking it was going to be just another chain spot--but wow, were we wrong. This is a warm, welcoming Mexican restaurant with beautiful décor that instantly makes you feel at home. The bartender was amazing--super friendly and mixing up some of the best house-made margaritas in the city. Perfectly balanced, refreshing, and the kind of drink you come back for. If you're a fan of fresh-made, thin chips, this place will be your new go-to. The real standout for me was the green hatch chili crab cake--unique, flavorful, and unlike anything I've had at other Mexican restaurants. UPDATE - We've been here dozens of times and it never disappoints. They have some new items on the menu and we had the New Mexican Big Bowl and it is BIG and amazing. It easily feeds two, maybe three! I brought a lot of it home. You build it yourself from a large number of options. We also ordered the New Mexico Classics tamale and you can customize it with sides. Met up with family here, who love this place. We were in from out of town, and thought it was great too! Delicious salty chips, and their homemade apple salsa (changed every week, I believe), was really good. My skinny marg was yummy and the service was fast & friendly. Going in sequence, the chips and salsa were good. There was a typical red salsa with a little kick, but then there was a watermelon salsa that was the perfect, lighter, sweeter complement. The spicy mango margarita wasn't it for me. When I get margs, it's usually a house (lime) on the rocks with salt rim. I'll stick to my go-to next time. We were there for brunch and the sopai-pillows were nice. Light in weight and in taste on its own, but the accompanying cup of honey for dipping helps the replay value. I ordered my breakfast burrito with chorizo and green chile sauce, and I didn't regret forgoing the alternate choices of bacon and red chile. A solid dish. With everything else that I had, there was enough burrito for leftovers which I appreciated. My wife and I sat inside, and the open windows/doors leading to their patio created a nice ambiance, almost good enough to make you forget that you're surrounded by a suburban mall. I took a few bites of her Sandia Sopapilla. We agreed that the shredded beef was nice but the sopapilla (just like its aforementioned appetizer counterpart) didn't really add anything. First timer here! It did not disappoint. I have to say that spicy beef is no joke! I would add a business tip on that but Yelp is doing away with those. The rice was delicious, I would absolutely recommend. The service was great and appreciated the menu suggestions. The atmosphere was nice for a strip row restaurant and business block. Inside had a nice, respectful, Native American influence. I had the Spicy Beef Chimichanga, with queso salsa and chips. The regular salsa was really noteworthy too. Hadn't been to Chile Verde in a very long while when I decided to venture there on a snowy January night, and I was glad I did. The place is warm and welcoming (the host seemed to know many people personally, this place clearly has its loyal patrons--many families with children), but I was very glad I'd made reservations online, because it was also packed and there's almost no room to wait inside. Even in the packed restaurant, our booth table near the bar area had a nice intimate feel. Servers were all very friendly and prompt. The menu has great variety: some Mexican classics (enchiladas, chimichangas) and other entrees with a Southwestern flair (burgers etc). Prices are reasonable. I ordered the BBQ quesadilla; the Anasazi BBQ sauce was excellent and elevated what would otherwise have been a kind of basic quesadilla. My partner ordered the fish tacos; they were good, but slightly bland (we realized toward the end they seemed to have forgotten one of the promised sauces). My friends love this place and come here all the time so they suggested we get dinner here after OrangeTheory. The staff was friendly! They were going to close in 30minutes but didn't kick us out or rush us out. You get your own salsa dish which is nice! Loved eating the chips. Our server did a great job replacing salsa dishes and giving us another chip bowl. For entrees, my friends got the chile relleno, the Mac and cheese, and the chimichanga with beans and veg only. I also got the chimichanga but with chicken. My meal was good but the chicken was dry. It did have a nice seasoning on it and I liked the flavors. They are also generous on the side of beans. Good price for the amount too! I'd come back again though. I was impressed with the food as I've never had New Mexican food before. And I really liked the decor. They've got an outdoor patio and they open the doors so that you get that indoor outdoor experience when you're sitting inside. Tons of parking around the building. First time back at Chili Verde in yearssss and now it's got me wondering why it's been so long... I was stoked to see that their menu hasn't changed too much and they've got the same classic flavors. We started with a bowl of queso which was delish, and the bowl is definitely a great size for 3-4 people we ended up taking our leftovers home. For entrees I ended up choosing the pick two combo with a stacked chicken enchilada and spicy ground beef taco, my husband got the taco salad. 10/10 no complaints, no notes. The portions were huge and the flavors were on point. I'm obsessed with their Anasazi barbecue, it's the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. Also their blanco marg with Ocho was delicious and refreshing. Do yourself a favor and sit on the patio, it's the perfect set up and feels private even though you're in a strip mall and the umbrellas provide the perfect amount of shade. I used to live by the old location and went all the time. Loved it. This one opened and I didn't ever get up here, the old one closed, and today I had a chance so I swung by. Nice open feel to the place, patio was open and doors let light and air into the inside, where we sat. Not busy when we got there at 1130am on a weekday but definitely was by the time we left. Great service, though they were scrambling. Menu is something like I remember from the original location, with some changes. They brought out good tortilla chips with a salsa I loved, chunky and medium hot. Mom got the taco lunch special, with beef, and liked it, though they were hard to pick up so she went with her fork. She would have preferred refried beans to the intact ones, but she loved the tacos and the pineapple salsa. Said there was just a little heat in it. I had the Aztec wrap with pork. Big, held together well most of the way through. Packed with meat and veggies. Very tasty all in all, and flavors melded well. Pork was tender and flavorful. Came with fries or tots, I chose tots. Usually not a big fan, but these were crispy and lightly seasoned. Very good. Prices seem a little high till you factor in the portion size and quality. Well worth it then. Soo freaking good!!! My aunt, daughter and I went for lunch! They have a great lunch menu! I'm currently pregnant and was looking for a special drink and they offered no alcoholic bar specials! I got the lunch special with the chile relleno and tamale, it also came with rice and beans it was about $12 the drink was $5.50, plus my daughters cheese quesadilla with fruit that was about $7. My aunt got a burrito, they even offered to cover it in queso! She got a side salad which was definitely big enough to be the main entree! The chips and salsa definitely played a part in getting to go boxes! Servers were extremely attentive and friendly! I had the strawberry which was muddled with fresh berries and was so delicious. The queso was absolutely fabulous, possibly some of the best I've ever had! Crunchy rice two times in a row!! Seriously?!?!!! There was no seasoning on the chicken / steak fajitas. They seriously either didn't add fajita seasoning or their fajitas are super bland...either way, yuk. I eat here a lot..or I USED to. I'm over the dried out crunchy, inedible rice. I actually ended up sick and vomiting after my meal there....and it wasn't a virus or poisoning because once the food was out of my system..I was better. It was just a disgusting and disappointing meal. Stopped in for lunch while on a day trip to Columbus. It was a pure chance visit. So very happy that we did! Smallish place with some Native decor. Our server was top notch! Thank you! The top travel site on the internet rated the Sawmill Rd location as the third best Mexican restaurant in Columbus. Sadly, that location closed so I popped over to their other location - this one. I arrived during Happy Hour, so I gave that menu a look first: It's basically all the appetizers and a couple of sides at discounted rates. Not discounted deeply enough, I thought. So I moved on to the main menu and decided on the $20 Combo Plato, which came with three entre items among six choices and sides of rice and beans. I chose the burrito, enchilada, and tamale with the chili verde (hot) sauce: they were all pretty good- especially the tamale. And the platter was definitely filling; I'm a fat guy and even I couldn't finish it. On the bright side, the leftovers made for a nice midnight snack. As for the service, the waitress was as ideally cheerful as you would hope a real Mexican mama would be after she invited you over for supper. And the atmosphere, with a front façade that's actually a large garage-like door that opens to the outside when the weather is nice, was exceptionally pleasant due to sunny, mid 70s weather on an early Autumn day.
