I used to LOVE this place. I heard it had new owners so I was hesitant to go. I tried it again and the service wasn't great. The girl taking orders was not very friendly, wore gloves, but touched EVERYTHING after she spooned it into the bowl. Looked like the gloves hadn't been changed for a long time. She seemed annoyed that they were busy and had a line of customers. The assembly line was very messy *yes they were busy* but they made no attempt to keep the line clean. The girl at checkout seemed annoyed that she was working and didn't even tell me my total owed, just pointed to the screen. The guacamole was delicious, but my bowl with chicken was beyond salty. Quite possibly the rudest most unpleasant experience I've had at this place. The large extra sized girl that was so inconvienced go find a new place to hide, find a new job not in customer service, the night crew there is awful and should be ashamed of treating anyone like that. Laughing at the way my food was thrown together I even tipped I paid for food I couldn't eat couldn't even feed to the dog. And the taste inedible. The girl didnt use gloves for anything even grabbing chips. This is my favorite place to take home Mexican food in Lima. I am diabetic and love cheese and sour cream but it is not the best choice for me. I can customize my taco, or bowl with options that are best for me with no attitude because the kitchen has to make substitutions. Service is always quick and friendly. Great place that's similar to Chipotle but better! Chipotle is too salty and more expensive. Jalapeños offers large portions and delicious options. My favorite is the salad with the delicious vinaigrette. Rice, beans, veggies, salsa, and guac instead of cheese and sour cream. Perfect! They do have delicious queso as well! This is kinda like chipotle but better..I was there for the fish tacos and was not disappointed! During lent they do fish tacos ,bowls or burritos on Fridays. You can get it there way or make your own..there way is cheese, pico, cabbage and a spicy sauce. After receiving an invitation to try Jalapenos again, I visited with a burrito fanatic who has traveled the country hunting down the best burritos. However, she ordered a burrito bowl, so we'll never know what she thinks of Jalapenos' burritos. Anyway, I ordered steak this time and absolutely loved it. Again, it didn't have that cilantro-lime tang mastered by Chipotle, but the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Jalepenos is doing its own thing and doing it well. went to Jalapenos after ordering by phone. When I called, the man I talked to was very friendly, and he gladly took my order over the phone. As someone who doesn't go to Jalapenos often, I didn't know what you could put in a burrito, so I asked for options, and they were given, even explanations for foods like barbacoa. Since I wasn't going to be at the restaurant immediately, I asked for it to be put on hold, and it was. When I went to pick it up a few minutes later, they were just finishing up the burrito, probably due to customers in line at the time I called. I then paid, with a coupon, and I got a free drink. After eating the food, I can happily say that I had a good experience, for the most part. The only issues that I had were that the food wasn't as hot as I would like it to be, and that the burritos were labeled wrong (since I ordered two burritos). My verdict is that this is a great restaurant, but if you are ordering more than one burrito at a time over the phone, please do so at your own risk, and don't expect your food to be steaming hot. read more

Great burrito bowls, I frequently eat here on average two times per week for lunch, they are friendly and quick.

I love this place--been eating there a couple times a week for the last month or so. I get the burrito bowl with brown rice, black beans, chicken, corn salsa, jalapeño salsa, & shredded cheese. My hubby gets a less spicy variation with steak, & with two drinks it's just under $20. The place at Shawnee is awesome. Forget about the chains, come here instead. Don't expect fancy, shiny artifacts to distract you from the food. I ordered the Burrito Bowl and they packed it in. Have been eating here since it opened, but I will never return. The service for the last several months has been awful, the people working there are not friendly. We usually get the bowls, they reduced the size of the bowls and the servers do not even fill the bowl like they used to. So you get smaller bowls with less food and increased prices. Recently we went in for a carry out order and when we got home the server did not put the lid on the hot cheese so it ended up all over everything in the bag and no cheese to eat. What went wrong with this place is amazing, do not eat here or you to will be disappointed.
