Don't come in expecting a "traditional" mexican restaurant menu. It's more Tex-Mex and bar food. Not that it's a bad thing. The menu is a little smaller than many or the hugggggge multi- page menus at most local mexican spots- but that means they can focus on quality food. (One would think)The salsa needs some cilantro and a bit more punch. Not sure if it's freshly made, but it gives a jarred salsa vibe. Service was fair/ our waitress was hustling hard, but seems like they were short handed, The burrito was just ground beef inside of the flowers for the dry and instead of plate. No cheese, salt, no vegetables, not even any beans. The chili relleno is breaded and hard fried in the weirdest way. Not at all traditional hard as a rock. I visit Findlay once a year to see family and we would go to Oler's on the way into town every year. The food was good, not great, but enjoyable. However, the margaritas were the best I've ever had. We would order a pitcher. But last year, the taste of the food had taken a dive and the margaritas were watered down. It was so disappointing that we're going to stop our tradition of visiting Oler's when I come into town. read more

One of my favorite places to go get a margarita! These margarita's are little but mighty! Get one if you like a margarita that is not syrupy sweet but is made with alcohol. As far as food goes, I usually get the shrimp fajitas. The shrimp could be a lot bigger but the onions and peppers are not greasy at all. Not a big fan of there beans. Ahhhhh, once upon a time, this place was renowned for good food. Just ate there tonight, sadly gonna be my last time. Tonight was the 2nd time I've had a Tostizza that tasted anything but Mexican..... bland as could be, nothing special. My dining partner got fajitas with 4 pieces of beef and 8 tiny shrimp, more onion and peppers, than anything else, lots of rice, cup of beans, also bland and definitely not worth $16..... This is one of my new favorite places to grab a drink and some delicious and inexpensive food. It's been up and running in Findlay for over 30 years and serves such tasty and unique food, especially for this area of the country. I've had several things on the menu and really liked them all. My go-to meal is the Navajo Taco! I order it with a mix of their chi zip and carnitas with the spicy green chili sauce and sometimes a side of sour cream for extra creamy goodness What makes the taco so unique is the Navajo flatbread, which is typically found in the Southwest of the United States and I've never had it in the Midwest! The chili rellenos dinner is absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and fried peppers filled with cheese with and extra spices to with a nice crispy crust makes this dish mouthwatering!!! Definitely check out the appetizer menu, there are a few items on it that you won't see anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs too, so that's a plus. Went on A Saturday afternoon, the hostess was so soft spoken I couldn't hear anything she said. We must have interrupted her nap time since she yawned twice while seating us. We thought this was a typical bar and grill, we were surprised to find a lot of Mexican foods. We ordered burgers, medium well. We were served hockey pucks. My husband received what I consider a normal order of French fries, but I had about 5 small burnt fries on my plate. Were we suppose to share? Restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived but business picked up by the time we left, which explains why service went downhill quickly. read more

We stood at the door for 20 or so minutes waiting on someone to seat us, while being completely ignored. Eventually getting the table that had been vacant (the entire time we were standing there). Our server was great and explained menu items as we had requested. I ordered a long island ice tea (the strongest I have ever had in my life), I'll not complain about it. The servings are generous but descriptions are deceptive. Three of us in our party ordered the grande burrito, it came with melted cheese which got hard and not melted cheese like queso. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Findlay. From the outside, most people would never even think once of stopping! It is down right dumpy, but the inside has a nice Mexican theme to it and is a lot of fun. I think technically they serve tex-mex food at Olers, but who cares about names? What matters is this place has good food and good service. They have a really nice chips and salsa on the table, it is not spicy salsa at all. My favorite dish is the nacho sampler, which I keep going back to over and over again. It has seafood nachos, nachos ole & macho nachos, which are all really good. The macho nachos has a lot of jalepenos, so if that is not your thing you have been warned! Occasionally there service can be less than fast. They have convenient parking. They serve pepsi products. The restaurant also could have a little tidier appearance, although that might just be part of there theme and it really works for them! On Mondays they have tacos for $1.25, so it can get busy. read more

Excellent and friendly service and a fun combination of foods sure to please all appetites. Inside or patio dining. I tried the Beef and Bean Tostizza (their signature item) which was interesting and delicious. I asked a local where a good local place was to eat, and Oler's came highly recommended. This is my first time here. Their regular salsa was great and the chips were tender. It was recommended, if I like spicy hot, to mix their regular salsa with the hot salsa. I did and am glad. Their hot and mild salsas both had good flavor. Many times at other places you sacrifice flavor for hot, not here. Oler's is bookmarked for the next time I'm in the area. read more

I have been here twice before with work. This was my first visit with a friend. We went midday on a Sunday there were a handful of tables not busy. Our waitress came to our table with a menu as we sat down and was back within a couple minutes asking if we knew what we wanted. We said we weren't sure and waited about 10 minutes wondering if we were going to get chips and salsa. We finished our chips and salsa and still had t seen our waitress other than once behind the bar talking to someone else. We waited over 20 minutes for her to come back to take our order. I asked about the sauces listed at the bottom after another 10 minutes she brought a lukewarm dip that was lumpy like when cheese dip gets cold and then asked if we wanted chips with it. She then came back out and said they didn't have part of the meal my friend ordered addressed me. After two more baskets of chips and waiting our food finally arrived. My friend commented "we have already been here longer than the whole time we were at wal-mart and game stop combined". The other thing that I found frustrating was when I ordered the server asked if I wanted sour cream and guacamole on my dish I said yes not realizing their was an extra $1 up charge for each she made it sound like part of the meal. She also got my sides wrong. She did not apologize for the extremely long wait to take our order for bringing things out at the wrong time just made one excuse about the dip that she said they had to make when I ordered it. In closing I ordered chili rellanos, they were not breaded probably at all. They were half covered and the breading was hard, one was black and one was green. And the cheese in the middle wasn't hot. It was so dry I only ate half of one and took the rest home and tried to fix it so it would be edible. I ended up spending $17 and didn't even order a drink or alcohol. Terrible experience read more

Went out to Oler's with a group of 7. While outside looks like a dive, the inside space got a nice casual ambiance (still divey though). Service was good and prompt. Prices excellent - 7 people had dishes and drinks and w tax and tip came to $140 - crazy cheap. But the food was the star. Had low expectations based on yelp reviews, but local colleagues assured me it was good and they were right. The food was very tasty and well prepared. I had Carne Asada steak and the meat was of excellent quality, good temp mid-rare, and nice spice rub on the outside. Sides were tasty as well - rice & beans and guac were all good. The margaritas were solid - plenty of alcohol and good flavor (although I'm used to bigger glasses, these provided a good buzz) Overall had great time and good food. read more

I cannot begin to explain how bad this place is. Oler's has been around Findaly forever...and I have absolutly no idea why it is still in business. People rave about thier margaritas, but they are nothing but cheap tequila and Rose's lime juice. There were eight of us in our party and only my father finished his food...and he got the ribs....yes...ribs at a Mexican restuaraunt. We actually were laughing near the end of our meal it was so bad. Where to begin.... My girlfriend asked for a cheese enchilada with her enchilada dinner (cheese was not an option and now we know why). It was baiscally a greasy brick of shreaded cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and covered with chopped raw white onions. The chicken enchilada was equally as bad. I didn't try it, but the way my girlfriend described it to the group was shredded chicken mixed with either cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup. And the enchilada dinner was missing a key element: enchilada sauce. My girlfriend, who can put away some Mexican food, had about four bites of her entire meal. We also took a picture with the cheese brick to provide some comic relief from the horrible meal, and to show proof of it. It truly was disgusting. I had some pork dish covered in cheese. It, too, was missing any sauce, vegetables or flavor. Hey...just cover it in cheese and call it Mexican! There was absolutly nothing Mexican about my dinner. Its bad news when my mother says she can make better Mexican than a legendary eatery. They didn't even come close on the most basic of Mexican staples...RICE & BEANS. The rice was like no other spanish rice i have ever had before. It was more like a long grain spiced rice mix likely from a box. If you are going to box route, just get a box of Mexican rice, it could not have been any worse. The beans, well, I don't even want to go there. It was like the stuff you get a taco bell at 2:30 in the morning...been sitting in the steam table all day...all congealed and nasty. For people who are saying this is the Midwest's "take" on Mexican food, they clearly are delusional. I don't mean to be rude, but I cannot underscore enough how inedible the food was. I can't believe I even paid for that garbage. Yelp needs to change the rating option to include zero stars because Olers is not even deserving of one star. If I won the lottery it would give me great joy to buy this place and buldoze it to the ground so nobody would ever be exposed to their terrible food ever again. read more

While the outside of the place terrified my girlfriend, I had heard good things about the place, so I was eager to try it out. I could sit here writing you a story about the place, but I think it's far better to just say it's really good. For somebody who eschews "Americanized" restaurants for the real thing, I was pleasantly surprised with Oler's. Their food, while not even remotely authentic, had a taste of its own that sat well with me. The service was honest and polite, none of that veiled resentment you get from a lot of restaurant servers. Food came out quick, refills came quick, and I have to repeat myself, the food was delicious. If you want a good, if unappealing to look at appetizer, get the dirty dip. One small note, I don't know if this is common or if we just came at a bad time, the chips were a bit chewy. A far cry from the delicious, light and crispy chips that come from basically every other mexican restaurant. While the outside may deter you (on the railroad tracks and attached to a drive thru) the inside is welcoming and comfortable. My favorites are: "Wet" Mexi-Cali burrito Tostizza hard-shell tacos Mixing their red and green salsa 50/50 (YUM!!) We waited 1.5 hours for our food and ultimately decided to cancel our order when we were informed it would still be a while. Olers is one of those perfect local dives; it looks scary on the outside but the food is good, inexpensive and filling. The atmosphere is super casual, staff is helpful and efficient and the margaritas are delicious. Great place for groups and families. It isn't traditional Mexican, though. Dollar Taco night on Monday night is great and packed. Expect a little wait on Monday as it's become very popular but it's fun anyway. Don't forget to say hi to Chrissy the bartender. She's one of the best and I always stop at the bar to say hi. She's as much a part of the experience of eating there as the old building and the chips and yummy salsa. She remembers her customers and their drinks. It's like she reads minds. She also has researched the history of the building so ask her about the bullet hole in the ceiling. The waitstaff are great and it never fails that I run into friends and family while eating. Definitely a Findlay gem. read more

My family loves this place. They eat there a lot, from what I can tell. 1: The restaurant is nice enough. You're getting a drink or eating Mexican style food. No complaints in that department. 2: Plenty of parking. That counts. 3: The staff is friendly. They work hard and I have no complaints with them 4: The major issue I have with Oler's is the food. It is plain, portions are too big, and the quality seems low. I have tried most things on the menu over the years, and nearly every time I have felt sick to my stomach immediately after eating. First, I want to let you know the staff was very cordial and the beer was super cold. The food however was a complete disaster. We ordered chicken nacho's. What we received was a small plate of tortilla chips with shredded chicken (what???) topped with shredded cheddar, onions that would have been more at home on a ballpark hot doc and diced tomatoes. To top that off, it was clearly microwaved. WE stopped by while travelling home from Toledo to Columbus and couldn't wait to get that nightmare out of our minds (and bellies). I've never had worse nacho's. Who puts shredded chicken (that obviously comes pre-packaged and wasn't cooked on premises. It was likely just warmed in the microwave. Nobody goes to Oler's for the look of the place, but if you love chili verde like I do, this is the spot!

I won't waist to much of your time on how bad this place is. Do yourself a favor and drive through Taco Bell you will get better food and save $20. This place is dirty, the food is horrible, and the service is bad!! read more
